“ I love her, but it’s hard to explain certain things to my mother. We don’t have very much in common anymore, and I think she’s aware of that too. She likes to remember a lot, these days, when I was younger and maybe easier for her to understand.

I appreciate that she wants to give me the same experience she had growing up–there’s no good way to tell her that I absolutely hate it, so I don’t talk about it at all. We don’t really talk much these days. ”
