The Benefactor

It was in August of 2012 that Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak visited Vrindavan accompanied by the Volunteers of Sulabh International Social Service Organisation who in turn were approached by National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) following a directive from the Supreme Court of India to explore the possibility of Sulabh's intervention to render relief and sustenance to the 'Vrindavan Widows'. Since then, Dr. Pathak and his organisation have been working relentlessly to help the widows financially and emotionally.

Requiting the love

The widows of Vrindavan don't wear the sadness of white anymore on Holi. They see no shame in getting drenched in the festivity that they deserve alike anyone else. Celebration of festivals with them is much more than the idea of compassion and inclusiveness. It is about providing them with the hope and confidence to lead a life of dignity and purpose. It might not have been possible but for Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak who took the mantle and became the guiding force for them. Someone who has been the reason for them to not feel ostracised.
