spending a weekend at your grandparents’ summer cabin with ellie williams 𝜗𝜚

ellie’s not sure if she wakes up to the soft pattern of rain against the roof or the intense way you’re staring at her like she hung the stars on the sky.
”morning.. should i be scared?” she yawns, and you snort.
you snuggle your way even closer to ellie so that there’s zero space between your bodies. the sheets smell like years and years spent in the closet at a summer cabin, but it doesn’t even bother you since it’s accompanied by ellie’s soft perfume.
”no.” you murmur into her skin, ”i was just admiring my beautiful girlfriend. you’re so pretty when you sleep.”
ellie kisses your hair. ”softie.”
”mmh. and proud.”
you get up, eventually, after a lot of kisses and rolling around in the sheets giggling like teenagers in love. it’s cold and so both of you have to put on some sweats and hoodies before you step out on the porch to brush your teeth.
it’s raining less now. the terrace is still damp under your fluffy socks. ”you should’ve put on slippers, like i told you.” ellie says. you shove her softly, even though she’s right.
your grandparent’s summer cabin is actually two buildings. one, the little one with the sauna, near the shore. that’s where you and ellie spent the night. it’s literally just a bathroom and a bedroom. the other one’s a lot bigger with a kitchen and living room and so on.
the path from the little cabin to the big one isn’t long, but the stones along it are slippery and you both hold onto eachother and the nearby trees to avoid rolling down the slope.
”come pee with me?” ellie questions.
many would laugh. you two just open the door to the wooden outhouse. it’s a little bit creepy, since there’s a lot of spider’s inside and the old magazine’s there are covered in god knows what.
ellie holds your hand while you pee. you do the same to her.
inside, the lights are warm. your grandparents hug you both the way they’ve done every morning during your visit, letting you drown in their soft sweaters for a moment.
you eat breakfast with the tv on. it’s out of sight, kind of behind the table, but you can hear the familiar voice of the news reporter talking while you dig into your oatmeal.
the fireplace’s crackling comfortingly.
your grandma’s doing the dishes while your grandfather works on some crossword puzzles. he used to play the guitar in the mornings, but he’s lost his interest in that this year.
ellie doesn’t say anything, but you can see her looking at you over her phone screen as you eat. her eyes are soft and familiar, telling you all you need to know.
she loves it here.
she loves you.
