The only difference between the ending we have now and the horrible future chuck showed sam in 15x09 is that chuck is dead. other than that, in that future cas and eileen were both dead and dean was ready to die. the only difference now is that chuck is dead and eileen is alive. what would be the point of that whole thing if to not reunite them in the finale? am i going crazy?

Exactly. You’ve hit the nail on the head there.

The current ending is indeed the Chuck ending that Sam actively fought against. The whole point was that they didn’t want this. Sam and Dean will get back the ending that THEY CHOOSE for themselves. An ending with Cas and Eileen by their sides. You aren’t crazy. I am certain this is the ending Dabb is giving us.

The sanctuary doesn't have the world's highest mountain in it any more. The hallway isn't an ice cave with sparkly lights and a bubble machine. The Sunday school rooms don't have tents, camp fires, or snowflakes hanging from the ceiling any longer. But long after all the decor and props are taken down, after we've vacuumed up the mess the evergreen trees and styrofoam mountains made, after we've forgotten the lyrics to the theme song (but the tune will continue to haunt us FOREVER) , the rich memories will linger. The time well spent with friends learning the truth of the gospel will find a special place in the kids' hearts. The Bible stories that came alive will remain in their minds. The deep conversation we had with eight year olds as we all sat knee-to-knee in a circle will carve a precious place in their souls. And mine. How I love these people. These people who know the importance of investing in the lives of children. These people who serve so willingly and lovingly. These are my people. We do a lot of things wrong. But I'm so glad we do this right. Here's to another VBS week at Summerdean in the books.
