*walks on in tiredly, waves, leaves a basket of baked goodies, refuses to elaborate as i promptly leave to pass out for sixteen hours* Well hello there, it’s been a while since I left an ask, life’s gotten busy lol.

Anyway! Once again thank you for all of your work in the fandom and for writing so much for the boys, it’s always a delight to curl up after a hard day with a warm drink and just read everything, it never fails to put a smile on my face and make my day a little brighter, so once again, thank you ^^.

(Also I know this is properly incredibly late but happy anniversary to the blog! I haven’t been able to sit down and just write much of anything for a while else I’d have probably said this sooner, sorry about that.)

Also, uh, beware a long ask ahead? This idea has been consuming me alongside Assassin Reader with Warriors and Lustrous Reader and it’s kind of been intruding in the space the fairy tale au should be at while I’m writing it + Linktober, hope you don’t mind me just sharing it here so it hopefully leaves my system lol.

So I don’t really expect many people in the LU fandom to know about Mili (who is a japanese indie band, really good songs), but I’ve been listening to Summoning 101 and then suddenly blacked out and woke up with the idea of Twilight with an au with Summoner Reader (or any of the boys really, I feel like it would work well for any of them, but especially so for Twi, Time and First).

-So the gist of it would be that Summoner Reader is probably from a world where both magic and modern technology exist (albeit with some challenges and friction between magic users and scientists), probably a little more advanced than Wild’s world. And that they themselves had a Link and a Zelda, a Link on his own journey and a Zelda who was incapacitated but probably trying to get back to them, Summoner Reader gets roped into the adventure because they were close to Link and was really knowledgeable of magic, making several attempts to mix it with science which got them mostly ostricized from society, and they know a lot of Hyrule’s history so he asked for their help in locating Zelda, Summoner Reader agreeing because it would allow them to keep an eye on Link and also gather ingredients to hopefully make a breakthrough that would guarantee many of Hyrule’s older enemies like say, Ganon or Vaati or the like would stay permanently down, even if it means shunting them off somewhere else before they could be sealed to try and break the cycle of reincarnation (I mean if the enemy can’t be killed but can be sealed, then surely there’s some way of sending them back to the netherworld where they came from and make sure they stayed there). Surely nothing could possibly go wrong in the middle of this adventure-

-So. 

Things go wrong in the middle of the adventure.

Link dies sort of things go wrong. 

(Either in battle trying to protect Summoner Reader or trying to get Zelda back, or because at some point Summoner Reader overextended themselves healing him and he was just like, ‘Yeah no I’m not dragging them down with me after this one, I can accept the cost of my wellbeing to save my homeland, I do not accept Summoner’s life being added to the cost.’ And ended up going off on his own, Summoner Reader catching up and, despite their best efforts, being unable to heal him, to the amusement of a certain Darknut shaped shadow.)

So Summoner Reader very clearly panics because none of the stories says there can’t be a hero, and there was no one who is capable enough to take up the mantle (I mean they’re a magician and they know for a fact they’re not hero material, and as far as they know there has only ever been one hero per generation/crisis, even if one crisis is mostly only put on hold until another one can come around and finish it), so they think and think and think, until finally they look at the Master Sword, dormant and silent in it’s scabbard that they had to pry off their Link’s long stiff hands hands, and have an idea.

It’s an insane, foolhardy, and incredibly selfish idea. 

But it can work. It can finish what their Link started, it can save their Zelda.

(It can help ease some of the guilt they feel at failing them both.)

So, they get to work, get some decomposing Wolfos fangs, a lot more powdered moonlight than is probably advised, the Master Sword (it could find things once upon a time couldn’t it? So what if it burns their hands, they will make this work, it will work with the last ingredient they’ll use, it will be worth it-), some of their own blood for the circle-

And half a Hylian.

Desperation drives one to do awful things. If they had enough time maybe they could perfect the spell, if they had enough time maybe Link would have still been there to talk them out of it, for finding a better way-

But their Link isn’t there anymore, is he? And they never had enough time.

(All the stories say is that there has to be a hero, never which one.)

(Summoner Reader was trying to pull literally anyone over that fit the bill,  but I like to think that they were specifically aiming for Fierce Deity while using the remaining power of the Master Sword  and well, since he’s sealed in a mask it kind of just targeted the next closest thing he’s related to, maybe he felt a tug in the mask and kept Time up about it and the poor guy is just very over it  lol)

-So now this can be pre-LU or during LU, but the gist of it, is that because Summoner Reader used decomposing Wolfos fangs, the one they end up pulling through the ritual is Twilight (who maybe was on a journey of his own looking for another way into the Twilight Realm like in the TP manga, maybe because Dusk cryptically informed him there were magical disturbances going on where the mirror once was during one of their weekly wine times or something and he immediately took up the quest).

Needless to say none of them trust one another and there’s a lot of complicated feelings going on there (with Twilight still holding some hope that maybe it was the Twili and promptly being smacked over the head with a brick that it wasn’t and Summoner Reader feeling bad they pulled him into all this and over the demise (hah) of their Link and promptly deciding they’re going to A: Not get attached and B: Not let it happen again so help them goddesses).

The plan is that things will be solved and then they’ll go their separate ways, surely it’s simple enough of a goal to achieve.

Right?

-Things do not, in fact, go according to plan, and these two end up catching feelings along the journey, but end up not saying anything to each other because they’re both terrified of trying to say anything and then immediately losing one another at the end of the journey. Except the choice ends up being robbed of them anyway because an enemy (Dark Link as a monster and already up to his shenanigans being the logical option, the funnier option {for me} being a version of Zant from Summoner Reader’s verse that Twi has already decided It’s On Sight on Principle) catching onto the fact that Twilight should not be there and targeting Summoner Reader and, since they used themselves as a tether to bring and keep Twilight there, immediately ends up opening a road to send him back where he should be. Summoner Reader trying their darnest to pull him back and keep him there and Twilight trying to hold onto them-

But they’re attacked a second time, it causes their hold to slip.

The last thing Twilight sees before he falls through is Summoner Reader crumble to the floor like a puppet with it’s strings cut, and next thing they both know-

He’s gone.

(As you may guess, neither side takes this turn of events well.)

-So! If this is pre-LU, Twilight is eventually called by Dusk again and meets the Chain and, remembering what Summoner Reader did, basically went “... Mysteriously opening portals you say?” and doesn’t ask further questions. If anyone notices he’s a little more aggressive to the Shadow than any of them, or that he always look a little disappointed after looking at the portals, well, they won’t ask the same way they don’t ask about Wolfie. Everyone of them has their secrets they’re not ready to share yet, it will come up in time when he’s ready. 

-Meanwhile Summoner Reader, who’s barely managed to escape alive, hastily gotten themselves healed, has way too much coffee and energy potions in their system and with zero sleep, just managed to break out Zelda on their own after a series of Shenanigans, hastily recreating the ritual on the ground while the Princess is trying her best to hold off Ganondorf on their own so they can finish it even as the Master Sword is quite literally trying to burn their hands off and sacrificing all of their years of research to make this work darn it: Surely it will work this time right? If it worked once then it can work again right? *trying to convince themselves and has been actively overextending themselves even more than they already are*

-Next thing they know the Chain is yanked through another portal, much more violently than the last few times, in the middle of a battle, is that Ganondorf?! Why is the Princess fighting alone? Wait why is Twilight rushing over to that fallen person- is that the Master Sword?!

After they’re done with the urgent matters they are definitely cornering the Rancher for answers.

(For context, Summoner Reader didn’t give up on trying to bring Twilight back, because again, they didn’t finish their quest, and he didn’t want to go, that’s reason enough to bring him back. But due to the Chain being all in one place it was harder to find him among them, so they got… creative, and paid a more extreme price for it in spite of Zelda trying to dissuade them because they were sacrificing all they had. It’s a grand ol’ time.)

Huh, in hindsight this could also connect nicely to a Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery au. 

Anyway that’s all I’ll  elaborate on for now, because this is long enough as is and I’m tired, sorry for the sudden writing dump lol.

They were being held together with bubble gum, duck tape, and sheer power of will. That last summons would have been enough to put them in a coma. Summoning that many people while being that weak would have definitely caused some organs to shut down. If not just have them drop dead entirely.

I wanna see Twilight see their body, attempt to get to them only to be blocked, and then absolutely lose his mind.

Forget turning into Wolfie. Twilight goes straight feral. Full barbarian- "I would like to Rage," sort of thing.

“Alfonse, have you finished deciphering those texts yet?”

The room was quiet, save for the shuffling of papers. It was a serene, peaceful quiet; not an ugly one that would cause nothing but awkwardness. You enjoyed the peace you had with Alfonse in your shared study, the times when neither of you were constricted by your titles. In your study, you two were simply partners, not crown prince and summoner.

Alfonse was always eccentric when it came to studying the secrets of Breidablik and its heroes, each new discovery was a step towards unlocking new secrets. The only thing he ever seemed to truly talk about was the wonders of the legendary weapon; he talked about his research like a proud father, you being his wife.

You silently collected the scattered papers of your research together, letting the question ring through the air. When the papers were in a neat stack, filed into their respective categories, only then did you realize that the silence in the air wasn’t your usual, comfortable silence.

“Alfonse?”

When you were met with silence, your eyebrows furrowed with confusion. It was only obvious that you’d be worried that he didn’t respond. You turned around on your heel, worry engraved on every crevice of your face, only to pause in surprise.

Under the light of the heavenly moon, Alfonse dozed peacefully. His face was tucked between his arms, his cheeks squished against the wooden table. His bangs brushed over his eyes, tickling the bridge of his nose like a feather. His nose twitched slightly, before he settled back into his world of dreams.

You couldn’t help but let your face soften at the sight of your serene, sleeping companion. The worry on your face faded away, melting into a soft smile that tugged at the corner of your lips. You had to admit. . . he was quite adorable, as scandalous as it was to say. The crown prince and the summoner—oh, the rumors that would spread! But in your shared study, your own world, none of that mattered.

Silently, like the night’s wind, you tugged at the cloak around her shoulders. It was a traditional cloak meant for the summoner herself, covered in designs native to Askr, yet you decided it served a better purpose for your other half rather than resting uselessly on your shoulders.

It fluttered in the wind as you placed it carefully around Alfonse’s shoulders, taking care not to jostle him. Once it was resting where it was meant to be, providing warmth for the man under the moon, you let herself run a gentle hand through his hair.

“Oh, Alfonse,” You spoke, your voice soft and low like a melody, “sleep well.”

You left without another word, taking your heart filled with love with you. He may have had your cloak, but he hadn’t stolen your heart yet.

But, if he kept it up, you might just find your heart in his hands.

“Alfonse!”

Before the Prince of Askr could respond to the call of his name, he found a pair of arms wrapped around his torsos. His chest bloomed with a warm, welcoming feeling, as you pulled yourself closer into his chest.

“Oh, Alfonse, you don’t know how much I—we—missed you…!” You lamented, basking in the warmth that was Alfonse. He could only chuckle at your antics, gods you never failed to put a smile on his face.

Delicately, he wrapped his own arms around your smaller form, a feeling he’s missed every since he wound up Alberia. “I’ve sincerely missed you, too, [Name],” Alfonse echoed.

Back in Alberia, Alfonse had come to know many. Euden, the seventh in line for the royal throne, was one of those pleasurable people he had found himself acquainted with. There was also the chivalrous Paladyn names Elisanne, who had been more than kind to him ever since he arrived. Luca and Ranzal were two rambunctious souls akin to his dear sister, he was sure that she would’ve loved their acquaintanceship. Oh, he couldn’t forget Cleo, the two had especially shared their worries over their beloved armies.

Despite all the people he came to know, Alberia wasn’t home—Askr was. Home was where you’d be waiting for him, arms wide open to welcome him back into the hugs he loved. Askr would always have his summoner, his sister, his commander, his everything.

Finally, he was back home, in the arms of his everything once more.

“I’m home now, with you,” He whispered, dazed, as if saying it would reveal everything was a dream. It couldn’t be though, he could vividly remember the smiles on his friends faces as he departed to his own world. You nodded your head at his words, “Yeah, dummy, you’re home.” You sounded just as breathless as he, perhaps you thought it was a dream too.

Your hand laced itself through his own, eyes closed in bliss. Each day felt like a week when you were apart for him, wondering when your love would return. It was both your wars, not only his; you had taken up arms alongside him, ready to fight for the Kingdom of Askr with your beloved prince. It felt like a dream come true to have him in your arms once more.

“Don’t ever leave like that again, alright?” You begged, looking up at him through your watery eyelashes, “god, I’m beginning to sound like you now.”

Alfonse nodded his head, unable to hold back the light chuckle that left his lips as he placed a gentle kiss upon your forehead. “Never again in a million years, my love,” He promised, his free hand brushing back some stray strands of hair, “Askr is my home, and so are you.”

You smiled at his love struck behavior. “I love you, Alfonse. I never stopped, and I never will.” His hand held yours tighter, “I share the same sentiment, [Name]. From now until forever, my heart shall beat only for you,” Alfonse spoke, before sealing his proclamation with a kiss.

In life, Takumi was an admired man.

As one of the princes of Hoshido, Takumi was no stranger to fame and power. His prowess with his legendary bow, the Fujin Yumi, earned him a title as an impeccable archer, admired in both aim and strength. His skill was one of the things he especially prided himself on, as well as the only. There wasn’t a thing the prince couldn’t shoot down, be it the enemy or a training dummy.

At least Takumi thought there wasn’t anything he could shoot down, until he tried to capture your heart.

It was true, the prince had fallen utterly and hopelessly in love. As embarrassed as he was to admit it, you had him completely wrapped around your gloved fingers. A single, lingering gaze made his cheeks dust pink, he could only imagine how his heart would go into a frenzy if he saw your adorable smile once again.

Oh, how the woes of love had his heart spinning in circles. It was only fair he shoot your heart with Cupid’s arrow too, right? No matter times he tried to take aim, to steal your heart, he always found himself falling deeper and deeper in love.

His failures didn’t mean he would give up—oh no, it meant the fool in love would try harder. Takumi was never one to admit defeat, even in the game of love. With a bouquet of flowers in hand to replace his trusty Fujin Yumi, he strided through the vacant halls of the castle.

Takumi felt his hands shake, something unbecoming of an archer. The petals of the colorful flowers threatened to fall with every vibration of his nervous hands, but the thought of the slim chance that you did reciprocate his feelings did nothing to stop the shake of his hand.

Gods. He really was in love.

Faintly, he could hear Sakura and Hinoka’s surprised squeals after he had confronted them with his affliction. He closed his eyes, embarrassment overcoming his expression once more. Now that he was here, on his way to your quarters to confess his feelings, the doubts he always harbored came rushing back tenfold.

The thoughts were eating him inside, ever so slowly like they always did. He was helpless before the dangerous thoughts swirling in his head, causing him to stop at a corner in the wall. His eyes lingered towards the flowers in his hand, the peonies wrapped with ribbons and paper resting peacefully.

[Name] will never like them.

Before he could let his thoughts get the better of him, frantic footsteps caught his attention. He had no time to react before he felt a smaller figure collide straight into him, sending both himself and the bouquet flying.

“Ah, Takumi—!” A voice that sounded like music cried out, flustered and embarrassed in nature. Of course with his luck he’d run straight into you, just as he was planning to leave his endeavors in love for a different day. “I’m, uh, really sorry about that. . !” You faltered, a nervous laugh leaving your lips right after.

You scrambled to pick yourself off the floor, hands shooting to pockets to ensure your gift was still there. You let out a sigh of relief once you felt the comforting weight of it in your pocket, patting it as you withdrew your hand.

After weeks of pining, watching your love from a distance, you had finally gathered up the courage to confess your feelings. Now here he was, standing before you with his own gift in hand.

With his free hand, Takumi reached a hand out for you. “Need a little help?” He spoke, looking at you expectantly. You took his hand into your own, your beating heart finally finding a moment of peace. “Yeah, thanks,” You replied, shooting him a sheepish smile.

In a matter of seconds, you were back onto your own two feet. “Thanks. Again, I mean,” You stumbled, finding yourself unable to speak. Just say it already! You yelled to yourself mentally, yet you found yourself holding onto his hand for just a second too long instead.

“It’s no problem,” Takumi tried to respond nonchalantly, to hide his anxiousness before you, as he pulled his hand away from your own. To his surprise, you clasped your own hand on top of his. “Don’t go yet!” You blurted, a spur of the moment decision, “I have something to give you, Taku!”

Takumi could only watch with curiosity as you searched your pockets like a madman, until you finally revealed what was awaiting him: a bag of sweets. You placed the small bag into his hand, closing his fist soon afterwards.

“It’s not much,” You started to say, looking to the side in embarrassment, “but Anna made me pay a lot to get some goodies like the ones in Hoshido! I hope you like them as much as I like you.”

It took a moment for either of you to process the words that left your mouth. You had been too busy babbling to ease your anxiety that you had let it slip in such an informal manner—you were ready for Hel to take you now.

“You. . .like me?”

Yup, you were definitely ready.

“I do, Takumi. I wanted to tell you a better way, but I just had to go off and babble like a fool,” You laughed. You were expecting him to laugh along with you of all things, just to ease the awkwardness swimming in your heart.

Instead, you were met with a bouquet of flowers.

“I love you, too,” Takumi confessed, “and don’t worry about the confession, I like you just the way you are.”

You couldn’t stop the giddy smile that made its way to your lips, both your hearts free from any doubt from before. You accepted his flowers without hesitation, founding they reminded you of your own home. Just like before, you held his hand in your own. This time though, you laced your fingers through his as lovers, not companions.

The two of you wandered through the castle, wondering what to do know that your feelings had been revealed. “You know, I never thought you’d like me back,” You mentioned offhandedly, “tell me one more time so I’m sure you like me?”

Takumi rolled his eyes, albeit playfully, “Do I have to?” You nodded your head vigorously, “Yes!” You responded. A content sigh left his lips at your antics, even when you didn’t act like the almighty tactician and summoner you were known as you were cute.

“I love you, [Name].”

“I love you, too, Takumi!”

♡ he is STRESSED. the castle is practically babyproofed at this point

♡ paired with chrom, the two of you are literally walking disasters. he makes sure one of the ninjas always have an eye on either of you, just in case

♡ breidablik has fallen so many times he’s amazed it isn’t broken at this point 

♡ alfonse tries to be sly and hold your hand under the guise that it’ll “keep you from tripping” BUT WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH!

♡ honestly? he probably uses your clumsiness as an excuse to spend time with you as well as calm his own nerves

♡ he chooses to train with you so you don’t accidentally injure one of your own heroes 

♡ you find yourself in the kitchen with him more often than not whenever you decide to be helpful and cook for the order

♡ the last time you were in the library by yourself you accidentally set off an ancient tome that destroyed a nearby table. he makes sure you stay clear of that section of the library from now on.

♡ he’s Big Dumb and Big In Love. . .you’re so clumsy that he’s too busy making sure that askr’s summoner doesn’t accidentally dying or get injured to be mad at you. 

♡ your smile whenever he helps you is worth it anyways he wouldn’t trade you for the world

“C’mon, Ike, at least try it on!”

Ike stared at the outfit in disdain, his blue eyes scanning over the purple suit’s intricate designs and colorful accents. It shined and sparkled in the sun’s bright lights with all the glory of spring, paired with a set of bunny ears to top it all off. While it was eye-catching, it simply wasn’t his style.

He needed something he could fight in, that could protect him. As a mercenary that’s been through the tragedy of war, he knew how important it was to always be prepared. He never went anywhere with Ragnell by his side, nor did he leave his quarters without some form of protection on his person.

It was only logical to say no, but the look on your face made him think otherwise.

Dressed in a suit that resembled the one in his hands, you stared at him with eyes that begged him to give it a chance. Your familiar, distinct summoning robes were gone, replaced by a cape attached to your collar with bunny ears sewn into the hood.

Underneath the cape was a purple suit, similar to the attire of all the other festive heroes in the castle. The suit you wore had its own outrageous frills and decorations thrown about, patterns of gold intersecting one another to form elaborate designs.

Breidablik was, as always, attached to your hip. Besides the legendary weapon were a row of daggers shaped like carrots, dangerous yet cute. Despite your suit’s flamboyant nature, you seemed perfectly content with wearing it, even going as far as to request that your favorite hero should match with you.

“[Name], are you sure I’ll be able to fight in this. . ?” He asked, his tone unsure and his eyebrows furrowed. You nodded your head, “I’m sure of it! Even then, you’re such a skilled fighter that I think you could beat our enemies anyways,” You reaffirmed, tapping his muscular arms playfully.

His cheeks flushed a little at your actions, but the light pink hues that dusted his face seemingly went unnoticed by your curious eyes. Instead, you found interested in a hat sitting on a nearby table.

Ike watched curiously as you plucked the hat from its resting place, brushing off some stray dust with the back of your palm. You held the hat above you in the air, positioned so that it looked like Ike was almost wearing it from your angle.

A light laugh left your lips at the sight, a smile finding its way to your lips. “Aw, I think it suits you!” You beamed, holding the hat in front of you for him to take. Ike felt his heart flutter whenever you were smiling like that, your happiness almost contagious.

He found himself taking that hat from your hands, gently placing it atop his head. It looked comically small on his head, seeing how it was supposed to be a miniature hat meant for the costume. “Like this?” He questioned.

You clapped your hands together, delighted, “I was right, you do look cute!” It took the Radiant Hero a minute to process your words, the abruptness of that small phrase throwing him off guard.

He adored seeing you so happy, especially because of him. It was almost like you had him under a spell, one that made him fall in love with each and every part of you: your smile, your mannerisms, your laugh. He was head over heels for you, you made him feel like a fool in love.

While he didn’t have the guts to confess just yet, perhaps he had the courage to put on that bunny suit for the day, just to make you happy.

♡ ever wanted a challenge?

♡ well, everything gets turned into a challenge with him. who can collect the most orbs? who can kiss each other the most through out the day? who can scare the other first? it’s a mess

♡ lots of hugs where he just lifts you in the air!! he gets to show off his strength and hug you, it’s a win-win

♡ he is VERY prideful of his people, almost every knows at this point. he’ll gift you little things from his culture, whether or not you know it’s meaning.

♡ along with that, be prepared for late night talks about his clan, other heroes, or anything really. he likes being by your side, it lets him know you’re safe!

♡ he’s so excited to meet new heroes and test his strength….;_;

♡ on the battlefield, he’ll listen to you dutifully, yet he’ll be hesitant to leave your side. if you need his eyes in the sky though, he’ll be there in an instant. he trusts you more than any other beorc in his entire life.

You barely had time to react before a pair of strong, muscular arms snaked around your torso from behind, lifting your smaller form into the air and twirling you through the grassy plains of Askr’s gardens. Your surprised squeals were drowned out by the joyful laughs of the Prince of Ylisse, the only sounds to be heard in the quiet, quiet garden.

“Chrom!” You cried, slowly joining the Prince in his fit of laughter, “put me down!” He gave you one last twirl before placing you back upon the ground, his arms still wrapped around your waist. “I don’t want to be away from my love for a second longer, especially since this war is over,” He pouted, resting his chin atop your head.

His words tugged at your heart strings, sending a pang of sadness through your heart. The smile on your face slowly fell, hardening into pressed, thin line. You didn’t know how to tell Chrom — you couldn’t.

How were you supposed to tell someone that the love of their life was going to leave them, forget them.

It wasn’t long after the Askr-Embla war had ended that Alfonse had pulled you to the side, pushing a scroll with ancient Askran text into your hands. He gave you a look of sympathy as he explained what it said, and you could only stand there and accept it.

“[Name],” He spoke, voice wavering as he fought an internal battle within himself. He knew the words world break your heart yet… you deserved to know. “Anna found this not too long ago in Vaskrheim, I’m… afraid that you won’t retain any memories once you depart back to your world. I understand if you wish to stay, Sharena and I would be more than happy to provide you with a place to stay.”

Alfonse was right, your heart did break. Yet, you gave him a shaky smile anyways, “I’ll be alright, Alfonse. You should worry about rebuilding Askr and Embla instead.” It took you long, way too long, to decide whether or not to stay. You wanted to, you really did, but you couldn’t just abandon everyone in your old life. They were waiting for you.

“Chrom, I…I don’t want to be away from you either.” Your arm moved away from your side, now resting on his arm that held you close to him. He seemed to notice the solemn tone in your voice and paused, “Is something wrong, [Name]?”

He sounded so confused, so lost. You were thankful for that somewhat, you would hate for Chrom to hear this news from someone else. You clenched your fist; you opened your mouth to finally spill your heart out, along with the secret that’s been eating you up inside, yet no words left your mouth.

You were glad Chrom couldn’t see your face, then he would see the frustrated tears fall from your beautiful eyes. “I’m so sorry, Chrom,” Your voice shook as you spoke, obviously trying to keep the waterworks from falling. Your hands found themselves on top of his own, before your fingers entangled with his. You turned on your heel, facing Chrom with saddened eyes.

You took a deep breath, trying to compose yourself. Chrom, on the other hand, could only watch as the love of his life broke down. “The other day, after we freed Bruno and Veronica from their blood curse, Alfonse told me something.” Although the words were unspoken, his gaze prompted you to continue.

“Anna, she found a scroll in Vaskrheim”— The name was vaguely familiar to the Ylissean prince, yet he was distracted by your gaze suddenly fixated on the grass — “Alfonse translated it, and he told me that I won’t remember a thing once I leave.”

The tension was so thick, you could cut it with the legendary Falchion.

“You won’t…remember me?”

The tears fell down your face the moment you heard how utterly heartbroken he was, “I’m sorry, Chrom.” That was enough to answer his question. The tears started falling faster than you could stop them. No, a voice told you in the back of your mind, you can’t cry. Not here. Everyone is depending on you. Askr needs its summoner—

The fact that Askr didn’t need its summoner anymore hit you like a truck.

When you finally tore your gaze off the floor, the first thing you noticed was the tears that fell from his own face. “You mean you won’t remember any of this? The nights we shared under the stars, our victories, our love?” He choked out, and oh god your heart was hurting even more now.

You could only nod.

He raked a hand through his hair, obviously overwhelmed at the news. His eyes darted around nervously, searching for a solution to keep you here by his side or at least preserve your memories. “Are you sure there isn’t a way around this, or—?”

You stopped him right there, not wanting him to grow false hope. “Alfonse said it himself, there’s no way around it.”

He seemed to resign himself to the fact that this was fate. He was always one to defy fate though, and he’d be damned if he wouldn’t defy it again. From the corner of your eye, you could see him fumble with his hands, catching your attention immediately.

He grabbed your hand with his left, placing a small, cool object in your hand before cupping your hands. “With this, I’m sure you’ll remember me,” He reassured, a broken smile on his face. He dragged his hands away, revealing a silver ring resting in your palms.

You recognized it immediately; it was a ring you had gifted him as a proclamation of your love. “Chrom, I can’t take this!” You tried to place it back in his hands, but he simply lifted his hands in the air. “Ah, too late. It’s yours,” He insisted.

Hesitantly, you placed it on your own hand. It clung loosely to your ring finger, but still clung to your hand nonetheless. You looked back to Chrom, this time his tears were replaced by a smile. But a smile could only hide so much, you realized, as you saw the pain in his eyes.

He was trying to pretend everything was okay with a facade of happiness, and that hurt more than anything else.

You held the hand with the ring close to your chest, “I’ll keep it treasured forever. I’ll try my best to remember you, Chrom.” His smile only grew, “I hope so, or I may just have to follow you back to, er, what was it called…America!”

For the first time that day, you showed him a genuine smile.

“God, I don’t know how I keep falling in love with you over and over again.”

“I love you too, [Name].”

When you woke up you felt like complete and utter shit. The feeling of a hangover pounded your skill, yet you couldn’t remember touching a single drop of alcohol last night—or anything concerning last night for that matter.

You shot up in your bed, vertigo hitting you like a ton of bricks. You groaned in misery, trying your hardest to remember anything from yesterday. You were worried to find that you couldn’t remember anything.

You peeked around your room, finding everything the same. Your sheets were sprawled around you like every morning, the T.V. was still on from whatever show you decided to marathon last night, and the chinese takeout containers still littered your room.

Everything was the same, there was no reason it shouldn’t be, yet something felt off.

You brushed a hand through your hair, recoiling in shock once you felt something cool hit your forehead. Startled, you pulled your hand away, only to catch sight of a silver ring resting on your ring finger.

You studied it intensely, trying hard to remember where it came from. When nothing came up, you chuckled to yourself softly, “Did I get hitched or something last night?” You joked, flopping back down on your sheets. The sun was barely rising from the horizon, you still had time to kick back and relax.

You closed your eyes, lulling yourself into a quiet sleep. In your dreams, you could faintly remember a man with blue hair reach out for you with the brightest smile you’d ever seen. You reached back, and in that moment everything felt right.
