My teenaged years were a very long time ago, and trying to recollect those memories is like walking into a discolored and surreal dream. We take that journey alongside Sun Drift, aka a musician from Sheffield in the UK named Zac Barfoot. Teen Dream is a washed out bedroom pop dalliance that drifts with leisurely languor. It’s a searching, penetrating daydream with sun-dappled striations and a bleary wonkiness. Any sentimental memory that has faced the test of time feels like Teen Dream. In the end, those memories are what we’re left with, strangely soothing but also haunting, like those thoughts that invade our minds late at night when we’re laying listlessly in bed, unable to sleep. Has the best come and gone? But at least we know that we can still listen to Sun Drift tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, too. For another new dose of Sun Drift’s inebriating bedroom pop, take in the woozy psychedelic curlicues of Want To Do below. The dual release is available on Bandcamp, here. They’re reportedly one offs not to be featured on any album, and they bridge the gap between Sun Drift’s Dumbo from 2018 and a forthcoming album due next year.
