A Walk Through the Signs - First House Pt.1
Welcome to a Walk Through the Houses - First House.
In this next series for the novice level we are going to be taking look through the houses. This includes what they mean. What they look like through the zodiac and planets, and what that means for you. I recommend taking a look at the element series prior as it helps to build up who the signs are, and what they mean. Soon enough (after the through the Sign Series at the beginner level) I will be doing a walk through on the planets which will be included below. Have fun and take a look around- but let's start getting into the nitty-gritty.

Welcome to a walk through the houses - first house . Where we walk through the houses, what they are, and how they appear.
What is a House in Astrology?
The houses are an imaginary wheel circling the earth. this is how we get our Ascendent, Descendent, midheaven, and Imum Coeli. The houses each designate a certain part of your life, appearance, and how you handle certain areas of your life based on any planets and the sign it's designated to.
There are a total of twelve houses. One for each sign to rule over. The planets also play a major role in this as they operate and spin in their houses. You can have multiple planets in a house, which leads to many different draws in the area. However, you may have no planets in a house, and that's ok too- you just aren't carrying that vibe. That's why we are going to be going through house by house, and coving all twelve signs- and planets to ensure the full scope is achieved. So let's cut the rambling and get on with it.
First House
Today we will be looking over the first house. The first house is ruled by Aries and Aries' planet Mars. This is also where your Rising sign appears. So the first house acts in kind. Whatever your first house is is how you deal with challenges. How you appear to others, your outer personality. It also designates how you appear physically. Depending on the sign (and planet) it can physically change your appearance. So let's take a look on how all twelve signs and their ruling planets affect this house.
The Signs and Planets
Aries and Mars
The Ram in the first house leads to a fiery personality. A lot of that get up and go energy that leads with passion. It helps to take charge and lead the life with assertiveness and passion. Typically how the physical portion of this sign presents in this placement is with an air of confidence. Shoulders back, walking tall, and with purpose. Exuding the confidence (albeit sometimes naive) sense that you know what you're doing. You may have been told that you have vibrant expressions, and may have been told you have a bit of a baby face. You also may have some scars from childhood incidents as Aries leads with the head.
Having your Mars operate in your first house can give an essence of leadership. Mars is the planet of ambition, and decision making. So people may often look to you as the person to get that done, as you just have that aura about you. That you know what you're doing (whether your Mars is in Aries or not). Having your Mars here can give you a much more red appearance specifically on the head. A natural blush if you will, and maybe a fire behind the eyes. There's also a high chance for acne- as Mars is literally bursting at the seams.
Taurus and Venus
The bull in the first house is going to appear as someone who is patient, and stable. People will look to you when they need someone they can depend on. That's what the Bull exudes. Is the stability and presence of someone who can endure most hardships. Especially when you have a battle coming on that you need someone to be headstrong through. The outer appearance of Taurus might appear more robust. Strong shoulders, sturdy hips. Like the element of earth itself- you aren't one who appears as though they can be physically moved. Only you decide when, where, and how.
Venus in the first house (Libra's ruling planet as well). Gives you beauty beyond compare. You are going to appear very attractive in many different manners, not just physically. You have been blessed by the goddess of beauty herself. People are naturally drawn to you, and you may have had many flirtationships, situationships, and relationships. You are magnetic and people flaunt over you. You may also have a craving for material goods as well. Often adorning yourself with things you find pretty. This is also accompanied by a fairly high urge to get some if you catch my drift, and it shouldn't be hard for you to find it.
Gemini and Mercury
To others you are going to appear as the chatterbox of the century. You seem to walk through social circles with ease, constantly able to match energy and talk with anyone. You are the ultimate shapeshifter able to be whoever anyone needs at the time. Mentally alight, and able to talk through anyone's problems with ease. As far as physical appearance goes, you may appear as a bit of an air head with sharp features. The angular shapes communicating the sharp wit that you carry. You almost come across as though you could float away at a moments notice, and take flight.
Mercury in the first house (also ruled by Virgo) is one of the sharpest minds in the zodiac. Coming across as quick minded, and sociable. Like you can talk your way into and out of trouble. Mercury gives that high minded energy that's associated with Gemini and Venus, and expresses both of their traits well. Exuding their mental prowess for quick judgement. Like Aries, having a Mercury in this position may often make you appear younger, and have more of a baby face- as you carry that energy of youthfulness often associated with Gemini.
Cancer and the Moon
With a Cancer in the first house you may come across as someone incredibly nurturing. As Cancer is the sign associated with mothers and femininity (even if you are a man), you carry the traits of a nurturer. Someone empathetic who will lend and ear to help. The "mom" friend of a group, you are incredibly protective of those who are close to you, often wanting to keep them in your protective shell. You may appear very soft and round, as an essence of the moon. Round eyes, round face. Carrying that vibe like you give everyone a sweet nickname, and want to care for them.
To have your moon in the first house you may appear as someone who is deeply emotional and intuitive. Like at near every moment you could spill someone's inner most thoughts. Unlike Cancer, who keeps a small circle- the moon radiates an energy that pulls people to you and you may have a larger social circle. Radiating a vibe that people are drawn to and want to be around. The Moon's effect on physical appearance is going to be incredibly similar to Cancers. Giving more rounded out appearance (in women particularly in the chest area). You radiate a youthful, yet matronly appearance that people read as motherly.
Leo and the Sun
Because of Leo's love for the spotlight this is a nice placement for them. They revel in the first house, offering up the air that they are in charge- more so than Aries. They can be melodramatic, and vibrant, less temperamental than the ram. When you have a Leo in this placement one of their main goals is to spread their social circle, and bring forward people into their lives. They love people and people love them. Leo gives a magnetic charm that people find hard to resist. Appearance wise, they usually have a luxurious head of hair (mane if you will). You may also be ripped, or appear as incredibly strong. Giving a regal, and commanding presence fit for the king of the jungle.
To have the sun in the first house is to know who you are inside, and out. You present yourself wholeheartedly. There is no "outer personality" there is only you. This creates a very strong drive that sets up the map of the rest of your life perfectly. You know exactly how you are going to accomplish your tasks and there is no one that can stop you. Physically, you might appear as though you are glowing, radiating heat, and you may be physically- very very warm. You may also be very healthy physically, and not have many issues health wise.
Virgo
The maiden in this placement may come across as hypercritical of the world around them. They are the ones that are sought out when someone needs a good eye. The keen attention to detail, and the ability to pass quick judgement makes you critical in decision making. Because of the nature of the sign, you may be more intune with other people's needs versus your own to the utmost degree. Often figuring out what people need before your own. As for the appearance, you may have more of the person-next-door type. Looking more plain than some of the other signs, with an underlying beauty that often goes amiss.

There you have it for the first house. i personally love the ascendant, because you know- that's how we perceive people. It's how others see us. It's also the sign that the first horoscopes were written for. They are so much fun, and gives a great view of people.
