HEADCANON 005 : ELIA MARTELL
brannyn had no liking of politics, yet kingslanding reeked of it. he understood that as the capitol, it was an important part of everyday life for many, yet he tried to separate himself from it. he didn’t make decisions from a political perspective, but from a personal one. like the dornish princess, it never truly mattered to him that she was an outsider, different (he could relate to this to SOME extent). most of the court either treated like a bug they wished to squash under their boot or simply ignored him altogether. but the few fleeting times their paths had crossed, she was always kind to him. bastards aren’t despised in dorne. it was a welcome attention. soon, brannyn kept volunteering for chores that might put him in her path once more. one more than one occasion, brannyn even promised to be of service to her ‘should she ever need it’. everyone knew her to be in a somewhat delicate disposition (after having given birth a second time) but the bastard still saw a strength, and a fire to her.
when rhaegar ran off with lyanna, brannyn was so disappointed in the prince. he couldn’t understand why the prince would throw aside such a woman. one who was beautiful, kind and proud. upon learning on elia’s death (and that of her children), brannyn found a dark alley and cried for her. that such an extraordinary person could have had such a cruel ending.
