This episode piqued my interest off the premise alone. Snufkin joining Moominmamma on an adventure of her own! What I love is taking time to focus on how much Moominmamma is having a little fun with her trip and is a capable traveler even Snufkin the vagabond has trouble keeping up with.
"I'll miss them tomorrow." I love that Moominmamma gets to say that and it doesn't come off as selfish or ungrateful. Obviously being written by a queer woman you'd expect a more defined mother character but this was such a good example of Moominmamma at her best. I'm at the phase of life where it hits me hard and I don't even have the day-to-day duties of child rearing. Moms need a break and often feel too overcome with guilt to take it. Respect to Moomintroll & Moominpappa for trying to make the best of her absence.
