Shining Gold | Narihisago and Taiyou

Being constantly monitored was something Narihisago had come to live with. When he was in prison, he was closely watched by the guards. Now that he was released with certain conditions, he knew was being watched by someone in Scepter 4.

But Narihisago watched, as well. There wasn’t much else for him to do, outside of thinking, which he did way too much of as it is. He didn’t entirely trust Scepter 4, and he brushed shoulders with some of the clansmen in order to subtly get information.

Which is why when he noticed a young kid with bright hair in the streets, he had noticed them. He remembered them from other peoples’ memories, flashes of their face, some words here and there. He still wasn’t sure why, but he knew this kid had been questioned by Scepter 4. This kid couldn’t have been any older than his daughter was... and maybe that’s what spurred Narihisago’s curiosity the most. What would Scepter 4 need from a kid?

“Excuse me,” Narihisago called, approaching the teenager. “Do you mind if I ask you something?”

Justice || Akira & Taiyou

The soccer field Taiyou frequented wasn’t exactly on the way back to his apartment, but occasionally, including today, Akira was okay changing up his routine to stop by. Although their relationship was still fairly new at this point, the sense of camaraderie Akira felt with Taiyou ran deep. The bond he’d forged with the golden-haired kid had already carved such an immutable impression into his heart. Put simply, something about Taiyou resonated with Akira in such a way that he felt almost compelled to trust the boy with everything. Such feelings had been what had urged him to so readily join the gold clan, and so far he certainly had no regrets in that regard.

Akira stood outside the field’s bounds, observing his King in action for a moment as he silently finished his iced coffee. Then, tossing the cup into a nearby disposal bin, he stopped delaying and stepped out onto the field, raising one arm in greeting. “Hey, Amemiya-san! You got anything going on right now?”

A sigh left her lips, albeit silently. It wouldn’t be proper if she let it be heard by the one on the other end of the phone line, but the conversation at hand was the same tired spiel she’d heard countless times before. The day’s plan and schedule all laid out for her, reminding her that she needed to attend a lecture later, and that she needed to check on another shipment. 

Really, she’d wanted to take today as a day to relax, so she could have some time to herself but that didn’t seem to exist. Well, the lecture was important and she did enjoy her studies, but she’d just made her rounds yesterday. Surely she didn’t need to check on them every time.

“Yes, I understand,” she stated briskly. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to be going. There’s something I’d like to take care of beforehand. Yes. Goodbye.” Once she was finally free and the call had ended, she let out a much louder, more exhausted sigh. At the very least, she was going to get some time to herself today before class.

She noticed then that the path she’d been walking had brought her by a sports field, where it seemed some sort of game was going on. Or perhaps it was practice. She was familiar with it, vaguely, though she deemed it a bit confusing, since it seemed to have two names depending where in the world you were, and one even belonged to another sport entirely. Her phone buzzed again then, drawing her out of her thoughts as she grimaced. “Oh now what?”

Though in the moment her attention was drawn away from the game, she didn’t even get the chance to draw her phone before a warning shout sounded, and she was too late in turning to look, resulting in a stray ball careening into her face.

Ah, so this was how today was going to go. Lovely.

Magic and Belligerence | Inosuke and Taiyou

Inosuke couldn’t remember dozing off, but he was aware that he was waking up. For someone as aware of his surroundings as Inosuke, a mountain-grown boar, it was very odd that he couldn’t recall falling asleep, but that just made his senses jump to high alert.

And what his sense of sight was giving him wasn’t something that he could comprehend. There were little tables everywhere, and a large white rectangle on the wall. Everything about this place was new to Inosuke, and he wasn’t sure he liked being placed somewhere he wasn’t familiar with, and definitely not when he didn’t even remember coming here in the first place! And without his boar mask, which he had only just realized he didn’t have at the moment.

But vibrations in the air told him that he wasn’t alone in this room. And these vibrations... they were like Yuuka’s, but at the same time completely unique. Another king? He spun around to face the source of the vibrations and saw a kid with golden hair, seemingly just beginning to stir as well. Surely he knew what was going on. He might’ve been the one who put Inosuke in this place!

“Hey you!” he shouted, standing from the small table he was previously sleeping on top of. “What is this place?! Where is my head?!”
