been thinking about sunpowder lately

- kūgo’s training helping madeline during her exile (he’s still protecting her in his own way, even tho he’s no longer in her life)

- madeline & kūgo’s friendship turning them into better people in like an infectious dual relationship. madeline stands up for herself & puts a voice to her courage, kūgo learns genuine empathy & what it means to save people. & it’s those virtues that destroy their friendship but they’re so proud of who the other person became.

- them still looking for each other in people they meet & kinda double take when they see someone that looks like the other

- madeline’s patience rubbing off on kūgo it actually helps him out later post collapse

- “i’ll keep you safe” and they both mean it

- madeline helping kūgo pronounce elven while dying from a strong toxin so he can cast a spell correctly to save her life (he’s holding her in his arms but she’s trying to keep him calm)

- the slow drift from adonia that starts this platonic triangle drama in the first place

- madeline missing high society customs & forcing kūgo to go with her to stuff

- the one time kūgo doesn’t brandish his service revolver to intimidate ppl for a whole day & madeline is secretly proud with how charismatic he can be without it
