Just hhh ramble about Iyami? I want to know what you like to think about the most ^^
Pbbbt ahh this is so nice!!! Idk even where to start, I just love him so much... seriously, I’m responsible for like, 70% of the content on his tag on Tumblr. I could go on and on about him all day long if left unsupervised heh
Ok so, for some basic background, Іуаmі is a character from the 60s manga series Оѕоmаtsu-kun that was about a family of identical sextuplets. It has been adapted twice into anime (once in 1966 and another time in 1989) then, in 2015, it got rebooted into a new anime, Оѕоmаtsu-sаn, which follows the exploits of the now 20-something sехtuplеts who are all unemployed and mooch out of their parents.

Іуаmі was the ineffectual antagonist of the series and he’s pretty unique in that he became much more famous than the actual protagonists because of his his trademark pose and catchphrase (the “shееh”), which became a nationwide meme back in the 60s! People even got the Beatles to do it when they visited Japan.
His name means “gaudy, disagreeable” and boy IS he both of those things! His profession changes a bit from story to story, (Оѕоmаtsu-kun has kind of an “Tom and Jerry” or “Looney Tunes” canon, in that the character’s personalities and some of their connections stay the same but the setting often changes) but he’s more often than not a con man or a petty thief and, when he’s not, he’s just an all-around unpleasant to be around. He’s a braggart, trashy and obsessed with foreign things -which he assumes to be superior- with a special mention to France, which he always claims to have just returned from vacationing there. He even affects his speech with his idea of a French accent. In truth, he has never been to France.
As its to be expected, it’s very easy for him to get on people’s nerves and his only friend -who’s he’s often at odds with just as often- is his scamming buddy, the street urchin (former street urchin turned оdеn seller in -sаn) Chіbіtа. He surprisingly goes on a decent amount of dates, though they end up badly most of the time, heh. In -sаn, they went a bit meta with his character, making him aware that he was a big deal back in the 60s and yearning to be that famous again in a modern world.
But enough backstory! I have a thing for haughty types (especially if they can’t “back it up”) AND for wonky teeth so it was pretty much love at first sight with him, heh. I just find him really cute... His loud, arrogant self hides someone who’s fairly insecure and lives a very tough life. No matter what his profession is, Іуаmі is usually very poor and starving, straight up homeless in many stories, living in a shack under a bridge. He just brings out the “I wanna take care of you” instinct in me, y’know? I like to picture being able to spoil him... give him the love and attention he craves so much, even if he doesn’t really deserve it. And, of course, since I am me and even when he’s not starving he has a hearty appetite (Alright, alright. He’s a glutton) I also like to think about cooking for him and making sure he never goes hungry again... of course, given that he’s a bastard he’d probably get a big head from being treated this way and get increasingly whinier but I wouldn’t really mind it... like I don’t mind he’s usually a petty asshole but I like to think about him making an effort to be a good boy only when it came to me~
A fun fact about Іуаmі is that, in at least one episode of the 80s series, it’s revealed that he gets -and I’m being 100% serious here- uncontrollably hоrnу on a full stomach. Like, it’s treated as a werewolf-like thing. So I like to think he’d enjoy getting stuffed full as much as I would enjoy feeding him, hehe
