Sometimes Sokka & Toph especially can get things started off on the wrong foot - she can’t even count the times she’s had to smooth things over with offended parties.   ‘I’m sure that they didn’t mean it - I apologize for their rudeness’   she shoots an irritated look back at the pair   ‘but we’re just passing through.’

HERE  IS  WHAT  IT  MEANS  TO  BE  BRAVE    in  a  language  he  has  forgotten   how  to  speak:   his throat a war-ground of lost battles and  pyrrhic victories,   his heart a clenched fist made for obeisance,   his body a weapon honed to be brutal  to be absolute.   and in spite of everything that has been done to him,  fear so palpable  it beats like a second pulse in him,   he surges to meet the terrifying dark of being  laid bare.   he has never been so afraid of  becoming someone  than when she looks at him as if he is  real,  as if he is  real.    her arms are a too familiar refuge,  and  this  moment            A  PLACE  /  A  FEELING   /   A  SAFETY   he never wants to surrender            stills suspended between them like distant stars.
