It was only a matter of time before Serenity met someone that was determined enough to sit her down and make her talk about what they saw. It's probably not a daily occurance to find a teenager with seemingly magical abilities.
It just so happens that her story involves a talking cat and a magical crystal. It's not exactly the most likely thing you'll hear.
