A little pout seemed to form on the shadow's not-face, even as it nodded. Usually the creature would take advantage of the human's sleep period to commit crimes and get itself in trouble, but it supposed cuddles were an okay way to spend time. So it snuggled in, soft fur-mimicking shadows splaying out as it flattened itself across Kimiko's chest and sank into the blanket, almost merging with the material like a black stain six inches at its widest point. There it supposed it would rest, soaking up the human's body heat and producing a soft rumble as it hummed itself to sleep.

“  AH  SHIT  .  ”  five  staggered  ,  leaning  against  the  wall  &&  giving  a  low  pant  .  his  features  stained  with  his  own  blood  &&  his  hand  grasping  around  a  gun  .  it  took  a  moment  for  his  body  &&  mind  to  connect  &&  he  dropped  it  with  a  realization  on  what  he  was  holding  &&  grunted  slightly  .  he  stood  swaying  for  a  second  ,  then  his  eyes  met  kimiko  .  who  was  standing  ,  staring  at  him  ,  her  hands  closed  around  a  white  bowl  of  steaming  ramen  .  five  SWALLOWED  thickly  ,  pretty  sure  he  swallowed  some  of  his  own  blood  ,  &&  tried  to  focus  on  her  .  “  bit  of  a  problem  .  ”  he  muttered  ,  slumping  against  the  locked  door  that  he  had  managed  to  blip  through  .

Beth Dutton was hardly the person with the patience to babysit the supe that couldn't speak, but here she was anyway. Whoever thought it was a good idea to leave her alone in this big house with Kimiko while everyone else went out to do whatever it was they were needed for. Eyes sorted up from the piece of paper the words were written on. "I don't know you and you don't know me. You want some advice about life? Well, too bad, because you're gonna take what I got anyway." Pursed lips let silence stretch a beat. "You're not a ghost; you're a person. You're alive. They're not. Blood flows in your veins and a heart beats in your chest. Ghosts are a little bit of energy left over on a plane that fuckin' used them up until that's all they had left. Ghosts are a memory. That's all." An index finger parked itself in Kimiko's face. Nonthreatening but firm. "And I will say you better get your shit together and start living, make use of your time on this earth. Live. Love. Do whatever you wanna do. You wanna fuck a varnish roan with the biggest fuckin' horse cock on the entire ranch, then go for it. Word of simpler advice, though, would be to teach yourself how to speak again, because all this reading and writing shit takes too much time. If somebody needed our help they would have bled out already... Goddamn."

          What was she supposed to do now?  A question that had been at the forefront of her mind since escaping that mad scientist madhouse with her newly acquired powers  -  powers that she was still trying to figure out. 

          Brows pinched together as she read the typed out message.  Right, protect  -  cause that’s that supes were supposed to do  -  what a bad joke.  For a moment she stayed silent,  moving around in her seat until one foot rested on the seat with her knee to her chest..   “There’s no one left that I love.”   she said in a plain tone before bringing a hand up to bite idly at her cuticle.

Annie felt an inexplicable kinship to Kimiko. All supes had, at some point, been dosed with Compound V against their will but Kimiko... Kimiko had suffered. And, though she was the very last person who required protection or doting attention, but Annie felt compelled to offer both.
