Veteran rumba musicians Kasongo wa Kanema and Loboko Pasi have announced their reunion after an 11-year split.
They buried their differences last weekend and agreed to work together under their original band — Orchestra Super Mazembe.
The two had disagreed in 2001 with Loboko leaving to form Orchestra Mazembe Academia, which has been performing in Nairobi and Mombasa.
Last weekend, their fans thronged Club Studio, Kwetu Poa and Ivory Pub in Mombasa to witness their reunion shows, which also featured Disco Longwa Ngoie and Malezia Mupia-Mupia on vocals, bassist Zungu Chai ‘Saitoti’ and rhythmist Pierro Kapamba, among others.
