You are the kindest thing that ever happened to me
Betty Cooper was the princess of the northside. She was everything a princess should be.
She was beautiful. She was wealthy. She was kind.
She was the perfect puppet.
People loved her and looked up to her. Everywhere she went they came up to her to give her gifts or offer their praises or ask her to bless their daughters to become as beautiful as her.
She was both beloved and envied for the life she led.
Every girl wanted to be her, except for Betty Cooper herself.
Her mother controlled her every word and action. Her father liked to play with her, torment her for his own amusement.
But the people didn’t see this side. They just saw the perfect king and queen with their perfect princess.
One day, after being tortured by her father and yelled at by her mother, she wandered over the border into the southside. The home of Jughead Jones, the serpent king.
Her mother had warned her to never cross the border. Dark, evil things happened in the southside. The people who lived there were criminals and not worth their time. It was no place for good little girls.
It looked like freedom to Betty.
She walked right into the home of the serpent king and demanded he’d steal her away from the northside.
He knew who she was. He had seen the king and queen parade her around like a doll. He had seen the glassy look behind her eyes as she walked amongst her people pretending to care. He had written her off as another dull, perfect princess.
But as she stood in front of him, ordering him to save her, he found he couldn’t say no to her. He was intriqued by the fire that now resided in her eyes.
He sent a message to the northside saying that Betty Cooper was the serpent queen and would rule along side him over the southside.
Her parents were outraged.
The people cried and feared for their princess. Stories were passed around saying she was kidnapped and held captive. People speculated about the gruesome torture the serpents were inflicting on her.
Betty Cooper heard these stories and laughed at them.
She stood next to Jughead, her king. A man she truly loved, who saw her as his equal and loved her back.
