So, since Bolin told he did not could bend metal, i always thought that Ghazan lava bending was a sign. So i was wondering about reasons for these special bending techniques: I think bending powers are affected by genetics (?), and i just came up with the idea that maybe the reason why Bolin could lava bend was because the mixes of his parents genes: Fire and Earth. And maybe online pure earth kingdom benders bloodlines can metal bend (even with normal parents)? Idk, are just weirds headcanons.
but korra could metalbend and she’s definitely not earth kingdom. genetics/biology/science in general doesn’t really apply 100% in the avatar world. it could be genetics but i don’t think bolin can lavabend because he’s mixed. like metalbending, if you’re earthbender there’s a chance you could lavabend but it’s rare
