Vampires, it was a family affair. Two brothers, two wives. And decades upon decades of secrets and lies.

Naomi had been the first. She’d been a vampire from the early turn of the millennia. Born in 968 A.D. in what was then Wessex Kingdom of the Anglo-Saxons. She never knew the vampire that turned her, only that she’d been attacked from behind, killed with a sharp blow to the head and woken up something new. Something undead. She was alone for many many years. A solitary queen.

It was in Victorian England she found Mycroft Holmes and his younger brother Sherlock. She befriended Mycroft, almost unintentionally. But she was lonely and he understood her in a way she’d never experienced before. He was too quick, too intelligent, not to miss that there was something different about her.

She hadn’t wanted to turn him into a vampire. But it was his decision in the end, and she obliged. It was a curse, as well as a gift. She sunk her fangs into his pale neck and they drank together. Sherlock followed not too long afterwards. He wanted to be better, to be more, to have years to reach everything he could hope for. He knew there was always a way out if he needed one.

Natalia was the last of them. She’d been a Soviet agent, born in 1918, code name Black Widow. And a double agent on the side of the Allies. She’d been someone Sherlock had grown very attached to. During the second world war, he followed her all across Europe on a mission. He turned her after a bullet punctured her heart. Both apologetic to pull her into this world and everything associated with being a vampire…and happy he had a mate. Someone to share his forever with.
