i've jusr read your review and SO MUCH GPOY!!! but this thing about Stannis and Melisandre- them having sex- kinda dissapointed me. i know there's this heavy innuendo in books that Stannis sleeps with her, but i don't want to know it. Davos admires Stannis so much for his dignity and justice and rightness and i hate to see what Melisandre doing to Stannis. and i want to see Davos's hand too! and i was really dissapointed with Salladhor Saan
Haha, thank you about my review! I'm glad that some people enjoyed reading my mess of feels about the episode, haha. XD DAVOS WITHOUT GLOVES SOON, Y/Y?
Regarding the decision to show Melisandre and Stannis having sex on-screen: for me, I think that the decision to show it really has a lot to do with the adaptation from book to screen. It was definitely a bit surprising to see, yes, but I feel as though they were building up to something (I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't read 'A Clash of Kings') that happens later in the season that could be really jarring and confusing to a TV audience if there was no foreshadowing. Because I know that when I hit that part in the book my response was wait holy shit what the fuck is going on, which is fine for a book when you can flip back and explain later in the narrative? But bad for a TV show where you can leave an audience confused and lost for weeks at a time. When I think about the decision through that lens, I personally think it makes a lot of sense for sure.
And oh wow, holy different first impressions Batman, because I totally loved Salladhor Saan! I thought he was sassy and had a good dynamic with Davos, and he was such an awesome cheeky pirate. He wasn't one of the characters I'd developed a strong headcanon for, though, so maybe that makes a difference.
