NY Pride weekend
I miss the The Wizard of Oz themed Mckittrick pride party
For Friday night's inferno party, at what time does it usually ends?
The parties, regardless of night, usually end around 4am. There is a last song played, and the the long-suffering security folk begin the slow shuffle of getting everyone out of the building. Just like in the show, the upper floors that have been open for the party are gradually closed off well before the end of the party. There becomes a point around 3am or so when you can move down, but not up.
Update for the curious
Because I posted on the irritation caused by the Mayfair ticket situation, I thought I’d give an update. Yes, they have offered a solution that is reasonable and makes sense, although not every ticket holder has been contacted about it as of writing this.
I want to emphasize that everyone I know who is frustrated is not upset about the actual change in the tickets. The solution is fine and will work. What is causing the general negative feelings for several of the long-term fans (and I mean people who have been around since the early days) is that this felt like just another link in the chain that includes too many instances to mention of disrespect. Several have been mentioned already, so I won’t go into them, but there is a general understanding that the recurring fans are not valued by the production company, even though some of us have spent many thousands of dollars at the McKittrick over the years. (When I say “production company” I mean Emursive and those who report to them. not the creative staff and cast or the stewards and bar staff who are generally absolutely delightful and a major reason we return.)
One of the most serious issues is the lack of communication. Many of the problems (including the most recent one) could have been avoided with a simple email saying, “This is what we are doing and why.” When something is clearly described and paid for and then it is changed without explanation, people get very justifiably annoyed. After the debacle of last year’s Mayfair dinner switch where the later dinner guests paid for a dinner in the Heath and ended up on Gallow Green lining up for food in pouring rain--there just isn’t a lot of trust left for some. (The heavy rain started between the dinners, so those of who were at the earlier one were just in a drizzle.)
If changes in the structure of the party are necessary to sell tickets, which is the case in this instance, that’s all well and good. I just hope that from now on, the people in charge of logistics will remember that they have patrons who are loyal (although some are starting to lose that loyalty) and that communication PRIOR to major changes would be wise.
What made you choose to see TGP and go to that NYE party instead of going to the Supercinema NYE party? I'm trying to decide right now which I want to do. I'd only be going to Supercinema late night, because I can't currently justify spending $225 on a party ticket unfortunately!
I have never been to a McKittrick NYE party, for a variety of reasons, including money. I have heard from my friends who have gone that it is the most “douchy” of all the parties. The more people who are not there because they love the building and SNM, the worse the vibe is, and NYE tends to draw those out more than the other parties, from what I have heard. Also, I am told the crowd is much bigger than usual.
This year, I was interested in the theme, but then The Grand Paradise announced that it was closing for good on the 31st, and my decision was easily made. I wish it wasn’t on the same night as Supercinema, because this is the year I would have finally made it to a McKittrick NYE party. But I planned to go to the TGP closing night long before I knew that they were making it into a NYE/post-closing party.
I know some people have issues with TGP, but I have always really loved it. I don’t disagree with some of the criticisms I have heard of the show, but there is something about it that draws me back, and I want to be there to say good bye.
NYE party tickets are now on sale
Just found out NYE party tickets are already on sale.
I won’t be able to make it, so I will need your recaps, pix and vids to live by!
The Clue party was everything. Dinner was great, but the post-dinner scavenger-hunt-slash-escape-room completely blew me away. The Carolines and NPH’s surprise appearance were particular highlights.
The party itself was great too - nowhere near as crowded as some McKittrick events I have been to (looking at you, every NYE ever) but there was so much to see and do. The whole night completely surpassed my expectations. I wore a wrench on my head.
A+++ would attend murder party again.
