I just watched the live stream from McKinnon hotel it's the coolest thing ever. First person perspective watching cabaret in Manderley (Nick Bruder was singing in bar) and performance on the 2nd and 5th floor, with some real scenes happening in the show (BW Porter phone booth, Nurse limb, Banquo lost luggage, etc.) mixed with special cheroes for this live stream only (new choreo for White Snake wedding), even included 2 1:1 experience (WIB and Husband). Also there was narration accompanying the performance (in Chinese of course) so could be helpful in interpreting some of the scenes as well. All and all very satisfied.

Since when the Lady Macbeth/Boy Witch pendant got much more moderate? First time following the two residents last night since the reopening got me noticing the difference.

Don’t know if this would be something that ppl would be interested to discuss. Of course there are a lot of deciding factors for someone to play a certain role or not. Here we may discard the constraints and just nominate residents or former residents who you think would be very fitting for a character or multiple characters yet they never did or at least haven’t started doing (according to the unofficial SNM cast list).

I’ll start. As a matter of fact, the whole reason of this post was because, at a recent event I saw Gino Grenek and it occurred to me how unfortunate he never did The Porter since I always thought he would be so great in that role.

So are there no more 1:1s during covid? <3

I heard the 6th floor 1:1 is still a thing, tho I didn't get it so no clue whether it's the exact same routine. Other 1:1s (strictly referring to those used to happen behind closed doors) are not happening. However, most characters would do some open door renditions of the old 1:1s, or even fill out the gap with brand new scenes. Some non-skin-touching interactions are also happening.

I really hate to spoil all the new and exciting things in the show, so I would just say this: watching 2 shows back to back, I stumbled upon completely new scenes, saw creative renditions of the old 1:1s, discovered new set pieces, witnessed new ways of keeping the audience engaged and different creative decisions made by different performers. The show felt familiar and new at the same time. It is actually very exciting and I can’t wait to go back to find more missing pieces. Even though the logical thinking is some of the iterations are done for safety concerns, I liked a few of them so much I wish they could be kept in the show even when it’s safe to start doing the 1:1s again.

New gift shop, new merch

@readwithjoy summed up the changes in the show pretty well. Last night on my way out I stopped by the newly opened gift shop. There are a few new merch items they put out, among which I bought these two sets of cards, with beautiful illustrations of the show/hotel.
