So I'm kind of exploring polyamory at the moment having always assumed I was mono (but now I look back I realise I was in love with at least two people for most of my teenage years).

It's HARD. It's super hard to keep remembering to respect boundaries. It's not hard to remember that my existing partner is still a massive part of my life, but it's hard to remember to keep reminding her of that, and not get selfishly caught up in this whirlwind of excitement. 

It really has been a whirlwind though. It's only been like five days and I'm just dizzy with everything. There's twice as many commitments and dates and things to organise, but there's twice as much support and twice as many hugs and kisses and talks.

I love that I have the chance to explore different ways to be in a relationship, and different ways just to be around people and discuss things. I love that I have different people to talk to for different things; if I need a Taylor Swift fix or a My Little Pony fix I know just where to turn.

I don't know if I'm just excited because everything's new, but I'm finding it so hard not to just go and tell EVERYONE about this poly thing and how it's wonderful.

And I will never ever be able to say how grateful I am to my lovely wonderful girlfriend for letting us try this out. She's been generous and selfless and wonderful, and I love her all the more for it.

I really hope this all works out for everyone. I'm so happy.

just ignore this, I wanted to write it down because it's lovely Linny normally falls asleep before me and I'll do some puzzles and tumblr on my iPad, and normally she's all splayed out like a starfish on her side of the bed but tonight she's on her side all snuggled up against me and she's got her nose on my elbow and idk it's just so cute

Still alive.

Yesterday Ellie and I went to Kumlinge, one of the smaller islands that make up the Åland Islands (despite all of Åland being island, they call the main, largest bit "the mainland"). It was..... it was a trip.

We got the full Kumlinge experience: I woke up with a cold sore (surprise, you have herpes!), it rained buckets, the church was closed, we got served tea and juice by a man who was both drunk and hung over and was playing Bejeweled SUPER loudly when we came in and didn't seem to know what his name was, we went to have a look at a "point of interest" that consisted of a bench on a hill, we checked out the local shop with an actually kinda impressive variety of wares but EXPENSIVE, and we went to look at an admittedly cool "house museum" with lots of stuff from the early 1900's but also some utterly creepifying sculptures outside the house of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Random Penguin and Nightmarish Monkey.

Then we'd seen everything Kumlinge had to offer, so we went to the ferry and sat in the car for three hours reading HP and playing Bejeweled and impatiently waiting for the super late boat to come get us so we could EAT.

When it finally came, we had what turned out to be the grossest chips in the history of man. We ate all of them. We were hungry. (On the other hand, there was an impressively delicious carrot cake).

Anyway would not recommend Kumlinge unless you have a great sense of humour.
