Kouha rubbed at his neck as he looked around. They arrived only a few hours ago, set up everything for their stay, and now he was wandering through the streets with the three maids that accompanied him on this assignment. One would think that a country wouldn't let a foreign general spy on their wealth and, in the end with all their crops and technologies, also their military strength. It seemed though that the mages of Magnostadt were more than confident and probably even hoped that they intimidated the spy.
This wasn't though what made Kouha uneasy. Something about this place made the fine hair in his nape stand up and despite the warm sun on his skin, there was a cool chill in the air. There had to be a catch to this. Plants didn't grow so fast so big, water didn't flow up against gravity by itself, and using a flying carpet exhausted you, and yet everyone here did so without hesitation. Even his maids seemed uneasy about how magic was used in this country, and as magicians themselves, they probably had even more an understanding of it than Kouha had.
However, he wasn't here to judge on these people's lifestyles. At the moment he wasn't even truly strolling through the streets as general, but as a curious young man who wanted to see the world. He picked up a few fruits, looked at clothes and other goods, got a few souvenirs for the people at home-
… there was a teenager crouching at a thing gap between two houses. They reached inside the shadows between the houses and wiggled. The curious nature of Kouha was spurred and he stepped behing them, leaning in over their head and looking down. There, further in, was a little cat. Immediately a wide grin came to Kouha's lips and he couldn't help saying, "Awww, this one is cute!"
