Photo journal August 17th: Summer In The City Here is one of my favourite shots from my most recent collaborative shoot with model @hmirrin, MUA @kayleighbrock_mua and designer @sukwanchan. We wanted to take the feminine shapes and cuts of Sophia's Spring/Summer '16 collection and contrast it with grungy styling to give a youthful feel. I am very pleased how the make up artist Ali de Val has translated a look from my pinboard and how well it worked with the colour gels I used on this occasion.  I really liked the effects I was getting during my Front Cover shoot and I new then that I wanted to experiment with mixed light again. I love that technique, mainly because it’s not that predictable. It’s good to practise it though as the results are still directable. 

I used a couple of lenses 24 - 105mm and 40mm during this shoot. I don’t have a preference for either but the wide angle made me a bit more creative I think.

She was nice and brave enough to pose with a couple of taxidermy ducklings that I brought in to add surreal feel to the scene.  I really liked the combination of the hat beautifully wrapping up around her face and the sophisticated ‘pets’ so to say. An eccentric and strong image in my opinion.

I managed to arrange for a model for this shoot from Superior Model Management. 

She came on time and was quite professional, maybe a bit inexperienced but definitely with great attitude and we made the poses work for us.
