cas found her entirely accidently. but also, he knew he couldnt take her home because dean, poor dean, was allergic to cats. truly a tragedy that dean couldnt be near such wonderful, joyful creatures. because one look at her and cas was already gone. so he started bringing her food everyday. each day she would accompany him to and fro his office, running w her tiny legs to keep up w cas' fast pace and occasionally stopping when he did and enjoying head rubs.
dean did notice tho. he noticed the spare blanket that got 'lost' one day. he noticed the basket where they kept their old clothes went missing. he noticed castiel's unusually higher intake of cooked carrots and fish all of a sudden as well. but he didnt really question it because he trusted his boyfriend.
until the day he heard it.
"honey no- that tickles! stop it, no, stop!" dean stopped dead in his tracks as he heard cas' laughter from outside their front door. he wasnt supposed to be home yet. but hed wanted to surprise cas, but now...
maybe hes a masochist because he opened the door to face things first. if he got hurt, it was his fault, thats how jts always been. hed thought castiel was different but he was clearly wrong.
or not. because he came face to face w castiel looking guilty and confused. in their hands, the feline tried to lick their neck as they fed her a single piece of carrot.
"dean! oh- oh no. im so sorry, you werent supposed to be home yet. shit im so sorry i know youre allergic, I'll send her outside at once."
"what the hell cas?!"
and that led to cas confessing that theyd been providing the little cat, named honey, shelter outside of their apartment for the past few months.
dean chuckled and said, "you know we can keep her, my allergies arent that bad anymore and i got meds. but she cant sleep in our bed. thats where i draw the line."
castiel's face went soft with endearment as he looked at their boyfriend. honey moved in that same day.
