Shy takes the wrong train in the subway and winds up on the wrong end of the city?
This was the first time she had ever taken the subway. And from the looks of things, it would also be the last.
Cheyanne Wyatt dodged a falling chunk of debris with a shrill, plaintive “Hey!” and a slight gasp as she stared upwards in awe. Above her, two men-at least, she assumed them to be men, but given their strange, almost alien look, she wasn’t too sure-battled like animals to the death.
“Aw, man! See what you did?” The one in red and blue whined, voice dripping with sarcasm. Shy recognized him immediately, thanks to her over-exposure to television and the internet, as the Spider-Man. He continued, “Not only did you break a perfectly good building, you almost turned this poor kid into a pancake!”
The other man growled, a deep, feral sound. His voice was gravely, though if it was natural or from pure rage, she couldn’t tell. “You and I both know that I’m capable of much worse, arachnid.” He spat out the last word, a bitter taste that he wanted gone. Of all the times for herself to get lost, especially in New York, she had to do it right in front of a good vs. evil fight.
“Um...excuse me...” If she was going to die anyway, she might as well make things worth it, right?
“What?!” Villain and hero spoke in unison.
“...Do either of you know when the next bus gets here?”
