That's no reason to over-react to it, though. It may very well be a movie centering around Gallifrey's history before the TV show, the Time War, how the Time Lords came to be - anything, really! More than anything, with the proper writers, this could be a great time to explore different aspects of the show that haven't been covered yet. Chin up, eh? It might be something worth looking at.

To be honest, I hate the idea of it being about Gallifreyan history. The show has been going for near enough 50 years - that means people have built up serious headcanons. As far as I'm concerned, people are far too invested in their headcanon for a new canon to be introduced.

I'm not happy with the whole idea, just as the rest of the fandom isn't. I'm just hoping it doesn't go ahead, frankly. Yates has a reputation for taking away the light-hearted magic, and I'd hate to see that happen with Doctor Who.

Honey, calm your tits. We've had movies in the franchise before, it's not the end of the world. We don't even know anything about the movie beyond the fact that Yates is directing and that the concept exists. At least wait until the idea progresses further before being so needlessly brash.

We know that he doesn't plan to continue it from the series [ie everything DW fucking is], he plans to 'start from scratch'

We know it's an American thing - it all seems to be based in LA so far

We know he's ignoring all the previous actors for the Doctor

We know he's doing everything we don't want him to

We know he tends to ruin good things
