FGC in 2012 [SFV Edition]
2011 ended on a pretty awesome note for me personally. Pretty much one of the best holidays ever with the purchase of a new laptop and cell phone. After moving out it was pretty tough to do anything online regarding FGC stuff (SuperTurboPodcast Blog). Now I'm back online in full swing trying to set up a few new "business" ventures. Now I call them "business" ventures but I have no real interest in making any money. My main interest is just building the community and making more new friends.
First things first, I wanted to help support a old site that was near and dear to me, AllisFighter that I used to run around 2009/2010. I wanted to help those Online Warriors out by giving them a surrogate tournament experience with something on the line. I haven't ran an online tournament since the AiF x iPW collab long ago (yeah bitch me and Haunts started this shit!) So I plan on running a nice little online UMVC3 tournament series called "Go For Broke," (interested? sign up!) so far I don't have any prizes planned because I am in a tight bind when it comes to money but hopefully later on in the year I will add some gift card prizes for winners.
Along with putting in more work for the Online Warriors, I plan on reviving the SuperTurboPodcast and getting more content out for the blog/podcast. Slowly but surely getting there.
As far as my role in the offline scene here in the San Fernando Valley (the SFV, not Street Fighter 5), I wanted to breath some fresh air into our little scene here. My goal for 2012 is to have a dedicated place for local players to play UMVC3 and AE2012 (and other games) along with Family Fun Arcade gatherings. Like SoCal is huge! A lot of stuff actually happens all of the region, we have; Super Arcade with LevelUp, Round 1 Arcade, Japan Arcade, Don's Arcade, and other random gatherings but I always noticed that there are NO SFV gatherings. So I'm planning some bi-weekly gatherings at this awesome venue. The venue is dirt cheap and in the valley, it will be more reminiscent of the good ol' WNF days back in SHGL BMX's garage and hopefully get a stream up and running or something. I don't know yet. I want to get all the details and figure out all the venue rules before I say much more. I just know I am pretty hyped.
I also wanted to donate some stuff to a local broadcaster so his streams would be more GDLK.
Just rambling. But those are my current goals, OH and EVO2k12 trip! Definitely going this year. Plane trip because FUCK 8 hour trips.
