in that picture set you reblogged of the Victorian babies, I thought it might interest you to know that one of the reasons that the mothers were covered was as a way to keep the babies in place, as a cheaper alternative to portraits after the babies died. (making it extra spooky) They painted eyes on the eyelids and added blush so they looked alive. They did that with adults that had passed away as well. It's kind of interesting in a really creepy way.
