Hayman takes the new device out for a test drive. Will and Louis adjust to a new normal that's wall to wall patent data entry. And the new device has a name.
Ya'll, it took almost 9 years, but Spilling Guts is done!
Now I have to figure out what Will and Louis need to do next....
I've been hacking away at the latest Spilling Guts chapter (cause I want something to post on my bday tomorrow) and realized that there was a scene planned out for Megan and Teegan that never made it in for pacing reasons. Whenever I get to printing Spilling Guts, it will be in two books and this scene will be back in the first book.
This takes place at the end of Spilling Guts - Part 35 on dA. Or Spilling Guts - Part 62, Monday Plans on wattpad.
Enjoy!
Friday evening, George skipped onto the school stage in his soft, well shaped carrot costume and rattled off nutritional info and his favorite carrot recipe. Megan's family had snagged seats closer to the stage thanks to her crutches, and they took high quality video of George's performance. Her husband had made a booklet of carrot recipes to hand out to the other parents. Richard was an utter nerd. But he was Megan's nerd.
Because of him, Megan could still have a "normal" life outside of work. She squeezed his hand between the performance of the eggplant and broccoli and Richard brought it up to lips.
"Cara mia," Richard whispered.
Gracen pointedly ignored them.
Between costumes and funerals, Megan had been looking up fishbowls, and interesting things to keep Gracen happy too. He was looking up articles on beta fish, making a list of pros and cons for what pet would be best for the family; and not a shark like George wanted.
"What about alpha fish?" asked Gracen on Saturday, as Megan and Richard shucked peas from the farmer's market. Ever since the Vegetable Recital, George had declared peas his favorite veggie. That his best friend had been dressed as a pea pod during the recital probably had a hand in his decision.
"Hm? Alpha fish?" asked Megan.
"Yeah. Says here something about alphas, betas, and omegas?"
Richard's eyes went wide, and he deftly changed the subject while "borrowing" Gracen's tablet to change the parental settings.
"You want to tell me what that was about?" whispered Megan as they rinsed the peas at the sink.
"Later," said Richard.
"How much later?"
"Bedtime later."
"Oh my."

Tia's hands fluttered from one word to the next, matching her grin. "Hearing aid now has office hours!"
Teegan paused in rolling out the dough for her cinnamon rolls. She had wanted to try homemade for once, and a free Saturday allowed her to experiment. Teegan signed back, flour drifting from her hands like fairy dust. "Office hours?"
Tia had spent the last hour on a video call with her supervisor at the VA negotiating for time to take her hearing aids out. The increase of sound at the office had been giving her headaches that impacted her quality of work. Rather than cut out the hearing aids entirely, she had compromised to having them in for only five hours during the day. The rest of the time, she could work with lip reading, writing, and signing.
It would show my clients that they could push for accommodations, Tia had said. And that sometimes, the world should change for them, not the other way around.
"And less headaches," said Teegan.
"Yes!"
"Congratulations!" signed Teegan as she went in for a hug.
"I'm wearing black!" signed Tia as she stepped back from Teegan's floured hands.
Teegan pouted.
Tia roller her eyes and motioned for the hug.
Teegan squeezed Tia, airy and pleased like rising yeast. Small victories amongst hard days at work. She would take every one and be thankful.
