Your average alley brawl finished, the thin man disguised as a delivery driver who had been stupid enough to challenge the famed Shibuawa to a fight was on the ground, beaten. That wasn’t what gave the man cowering on the wet concrete such a look of fear, though. He was staring at the entrance to the alley, where past the rain there was the sound of footsteps on the concrete and the approaching figure of a man in a yellow raincoat. With a lilting, excited voice, he chirps from the shadows:
“Shibu-chan! Long time, no see. Guess you’re finally outta the slammer, huh?”
The man who steps into the flickering light of the street lamps is grinning maniacally from ear to ear, one hand gripping an umbrella for the rain but both arms spread out wide in greeting as he saunters forward. One gray eye shining, the other hidden behind an eyepatch, he turns the smile back down to the man on the ground, who flinches.
The ace symbol on the eyepatch and the red leather jacket underneath that raincoat were a clear sign that the man before them was the Mad Jester, Adachi Tohru.
“And I’m pretty sure you heard the orders I gave out, right? The ones that said ‘Don’t fucking touch Shibu-chan’? Or do I just speak to hear myself talk?”
“B-Boss, I didn’t know he was Shibusawa-”
“Shut your goddamn mouth.” Adachi snaps back, and the other immediately shuts up. Satisfied, he turns back to Shibusawa with that crooked smile.
“Speaking of orders, I got a few that pertain to you, Shibu-chan, so I guess we got a little business to attend to. Just like the old days, huh?” He gives a cackle that makes the deliveryman cower again.
“But first...” he takes his umbrella and gently sets the tip under the deliveryman’s chin, “Whaddya want me to do with this prick?”
