You know what’s spooky all year round!??
Navigating medical and wellness expenses as a trans woman!
TL;DR: Donate to/share Naja’s Transition & Recovery Fund - https://ca.gofundme.com/f/naja039s-transition-and-recovery-fund
In less than two weeks, my dear friend Naja is undergoing a surgery. Thanks to the support so-far, she achieved her first fundraiser milestone for the deposit. Now, the next milestone is to go towards her recovery expenses.
These funds will support the limited income she will be receiving from taking a medical leave from work. During her recovery, she has a dedicated group of friends who can come and help her with errands and chores. So, this next milestone will help her cover expenses for: the care/recovery material she needs and her (+ her care team’s) day-to-day expenses.
Please take the time to share this in your networks with intention! It’s important to consider that, recovery is a process that is hard to balance with catching up to work and social expectations. These donations will help Naja get the financial resources to recover less stressfully.
Even donating 1 - 5$, sharing with friends who can also donate 1 - 5$ and getting that chain going will get this fundraiser a long way! Don’t scroll past, even one quick share can make a difference!
P.S.: Don’t stop there! Consider the difference you can make by seeking out, sharing and donating to other local queer and trans people of colour who can use help with boosting their network and access to resources. A lot of the time, it is us, their queer and trans friends of colour who are also struggling, who maintain the work of helping each other access better opportunities.
If you want to Stop Oppression Today, start by questioning the help/support you extend to local trans and queer 2Spirit, Indigenous, Black and racialized people.
