Katie Cassidy + Rupert Graves requested by suranneinvancouver
Suranne- I'm sorry your present didn't arrive in time for Valentine's Day, but I guess I forgot to factor in how long Customs takes to clear things. You'll have to forgive your scatterbrained boyfriend for that one. I wanted to get you something that would not only remind you of India, but also of the gift that the two of us are going to be receiving in a few months' time. I hope you like this. Paul

Paul: Going to be rehearsing with Tennant at some point.
Paul: Should I bite the bullet and say hello and get it over with?
[Inside the box]
If I had all the book knowledge in the world, It still wouldn’t be enough for me. Because the one subject that would still elude my grasp… Would be You.
I’d want to know how your hand fits into mine As we walk down a crowded city street. Would your shoulder bump mine as we stride together Or would your arm sneak around my waist as I place mine Around your shoulder in a band that no force on earth could break?
I’d want to know what makes you happy, What lights you from within. And then I would surround you with those things Or speak of those ideas and places So that you would always be full of joy.
I’d want to know how it would feel To hold you in the deep of night. Whispering secrets that my lips had never told anyone before And to know the things you fear when no one else is there. My arms would hold you close, this contact my silent offering Of what little I have to give. It would still be yours for the having.
And I’d want to know how you look asleep, How your face would shine in the first rays of morning. I’d want to know if you’d wake up right away When I kiss your shoulder or if you’d grumble and try to sleep more.
All of things are what I want to know. And my knowledge is nothing without these facts. So let me know you this way. Let me study you and make you my lifelong pursuit. I would write my greatest life’s work… If only I knew you this way.
Iniya Pongal Nalvazhthukkal! (Paul&Suranne)
Paul had almost forgotten, until he'd overheard a few people talking in the lobby, that the festival of Pongal was staring up soon. He'd explained it to a wide eyed Suranne about all of the things that people did for the celebration and he'd taught her the two common greetings that people said to each other during this time, Iniya Pongal Nalvazhthukkal which translated to Happy Pongal, as well as Pongal Vazhthukkal which was Pongal Wishes or Greetings, depending on who you asked. The day was marked by offerings to the sun god and usually this took the form of brightly coloured kites. He'd managed to sneak away from the hotel the morning before the big second day of festivities and procured a large orange and gold kite for them to fly by the river in the morning. Pongal was a time to look your best so he had found a linen shirt in the marketplace that would be cool as well as look decent and he'd suggested she wear her new sari. No matter what they did, they were going to stick out since they were a couple of white people, but at least they would be showing that they were respectful of the traditions and culture of the place they were staying. He did battle with his hair, getting it to stay down for the most part before making sure he had everything they would need. They would be spending most of the day out and about, so he had his camera, plenty of money converted into rubles and some new sandals he'd also gotten in the marketplace. They had to be some of the most comfortable things he owned and he hoped they would last him for a while. Leaving his room, he knocked on Suranne's door, his jaw dropping slightly when the door opened and he took in the sight of her in her sari. "You look...I...wow." he blurted, slowly shaking his head.

Rupert: How's India?
Rupert: Hot enough for you?
Shubh Rātri, Vancouver (Paul&Suranne)
It had been a bit of a long shot, but Paul was glad that he has asked Suranne to come to India with him. He always loved going back there and he was looking forward to showing her around some of his favourite areas of the country. Life was different there, but the kind of different that he was able to appreciate and he hoped that she would have a decent time as well. Nothing formal had been said about just what they were to each other, but he knew she returned his interest so he was willing to sit back and let things develop as they would. While cold in Vancouver, it was going to be bloody hot in India. Average temperatures there, at least in the northern part were well into the 80s during the day and he remembered how beastly it had been to film "Lagaan" in the summer. He and the few other "foreign" actors had to drink water almost all the time when they weren't in a shot and as soon as they were done, they had to retreat to the shade. Still, he was proud to have been in it. In some ways, it made his travels in India a bit easier because people recognized him when he spoke. Dashing off a quick text to Suranne to let her know he was on his way over in the cab, he zipped up his coat. Underneath, he was wearing just a t-shirt. He wasn't going to want to be wearing a hell of a lot more than that when they landed in Delhi.
