Surdulica
A couple of years ago I submitted an entry for the Big Finish Short Trips annual writers’ opportunity. It was sparked by a comment made by Sarah Sutton at a Big Finish Day convention, where she was asked what time period she’d like to see covered in a future audio, and she picked the First World War. I started thinking about the Western Front, and was intrigued by the story of the Angels of Mons, but then thought that the Eastern Front was a bit more of an unusual angle. When I happened upon the horrific real-life accounts of what happened at Surdulica I knew I had to factor this in, and the chance to tie in Tegan’s Yugoslavian heritage was too good to miss.
Anyway, like hundreds of others the story wasn’t picked. I held off posting it for a while, entertaining fantasies that Big Finish would want it one day, but I’ve since decided to flag down the Reality Bus and hitch a ride to Sanity Town :)
So here you go. It’s not good enough for Big Finish (!), but I hope the discerning readers of fanfic land find something in it to enjoy.

As always, comments are not compulsory but very much appreciated. Unless they’re bad, when they’re not ;)
Enjoy! xxx
