This is the third and final one! Would have posted this a while ago, but I've just been feeling out of it. I was also thinking of writing a story from scratch on Wattpad, and I have ideas. I'll get into that later, most likely right after this is posted.
Recap: They ate breakfast, consisting of some dried fruits and vegetables that were crunchy, almost like chips. They headed out to the docks that lead to Čerešňa, hoping they could make it there by nighttime if they went fast enough.
It had been another 10 hours of walking, taking breaks, and eating when they finally saw the Ryby(air-rib-B) docks.
“Finally! The.. Ry-bee docks!” Callum yelped, happy they would be able to take a longer break than normal.
“It’s pronounced ‘air-rib-B’ roll your tongue on the R”
“Oh, okay. Ryby... Ryby… Wow! So… Why does no one speak that language instead of English? You said English was the common tongue, wasn’t it?”
“It is. We just call that the ‘Old language’. Everyone used to speak the Old Language until a mysterious person, by the name of ‘Whiteout’... Well that was what everyone called her. She was named after a dragon that spoke oddly, so odd that most dragons outside of its own family couldn’t understand it.”
“Really? You sure know a lot about… Everything!”
“Yeah, you learn a lot when you explore the whole world multiple times over. Doing quests, slaying beasts, etcetera etcetera. Anyway, she was called Whiteout because almost no one could understand her. Not until her brother, who was named ‘Darkstalker’ because of his mysterious personality. Apparently he spoke our language, and the other, and he taught everyone the other language… Your language. He then tried to kill the king of Oheň so he could rule.
“Oh. I... I didn’t expect that.”
“No one did. He just went mad and tried to kill the king, the many greats grandfather of the current king of Oheň.
They finally made it to the docks. Now all they had to do was find a boat, and preferably a captain to sail that boat. Sam said he could work a boat well enough, but he’d prefer a professional that had years of experience.
It had taken a bit longer than expected, but they managed to find a captain of a small ship that took 5 silver coins an hour. Sam and Cal set up their beds, ate a snack, and went to sleep…
The next day was a bit more unusual than normal. Not much had happened on the walk, but here they saw rainbow-colored fish that jumped through the air, whales that dove out of the water and created huge waves… All of it was beautiful! That was what Cal thought, at least. His photographer's heart was leaping through his chest at this point, all he wanted to do was take a picture!
They got to Čerešňa fairly quickly and ended up walking a few miles before it got too dark. After a few days of travel, buying and selling anything they needed, didn’t want, or didn’t need. They made it to the Thinning Point of Čerešňa. It was called that because it… Well… Thins out. East Čerešňa and West Čerešňa were connected through a thin bridge of land(similar to the connection between North and South America). The bridge was guarded by the Červená(chair-ven-ah) knights. They showed the knights they weren’t a threat and were easily let through to West Čerešňa. The capital, Červená, was more beautiful than all of Čerešňa combined. All the trees were pinks and reds, the grass had a dark pink tint, the flowers were everywhere, and the buildings were absolutely beautiful. They walked through the town, Callum almost got lost after accidentally following the sound of music that was being played by a sitar with cherry blossoms all over it. Čerešňa was easily the most beautiful place in Surelia, Teplý coming in second place for its warm tropical weather and exotic animals. Sam and Cal were admiring the scenery when the ground shook, and the sound of wingbeats pounded through the sky. The roaring of a giant creature echoed, the people screamed and ran into their houses. Knights were running towards the sounds. Sam tried to ask what was going on, but only one replied… “Dragon”.
I applaud anyone who got the references, I'm literally obsessed with the Wings of Fire book series. I've read all 15 books, the 2 legends, and ever winglet(except for runaway, not even sure if it exists anymore because no one talks about it, and I can't find it TvT).
Yes it's a cliffhanger. Next year I might possibly make the other half for school and post it here
Here's the second part! Will be posting the third part tomorrow.
Recap:
“Don’t worry! I’m not a threat, not at all.” A man about 5’8 walked towards them, he had straight brown hair that reached his shoulder blades. He looked young, and yet seemed so mature. They both almost immediately noticed the pointy long ears that protruded from the man’s head.
“Elf…” Sam said quietly.
“Yup! My name is Fred. I’ve never seen the gate open before, you both really surprised me! I mean, THE sacred gate of THE Gated Forest, OPENING! Who knew! I didn’t even know if it COULD open. Y’know they say The Goddess Gem is behind the gate, but now I guess not! I was just on a picnic with the animals, and…” Fred went on, and on. His aura went from mysterious, and mature, to terrifyingly bubbly, and bright.
———————————————Flashback——————————————
Fred was just placing down the basket full of food, along with the red, and white checkered picnic blanket. He opened the basket, handing out food, and snacks to the creatures around him. He even took out another basket and dumped out the contents a few yards from the blanket, all for the dragons to eat. A few small bottle-sized dragons came bounding towards the food, and then the larger ones started surrounding the area. The eldest dragon, Drak, stayed on the trail to the gate, as always. Fred never worried about the gate opening, the thing was multiple millions of years old. Now imagine his surprise when the creaking of old metal sounded through the forest. Fred jumped up and bolted towards the trail. Drak and Fred watched two people come from the gate in silence, looking at each other, then continuing on the long path. He watched for a bit, while Drak decided to quietly fly behind them. When the two wanted to turn back, Drak was right there, stopping them from leaving. The boy with dark brown hair yelped ‘dragon’ before they scrambled past Drak deeper into the forest. The ancient dragon didn’t bother to follow after them but instead lied back down. Fred was following them through the bushes when they stopped, and he finally approached them.
————————————End of flashback—————————————
Sam and Cal got to know Fred a bit better after sitting with him for about 30 minutes while the elf kept droning off about random stories. Callum was told by Sam that elves are a bit different than humans, they have more magical ‘cores’, is what they call them. They say elves, even humans with a bit of elven blood, have some sort of connection with an ancient tree that has a small chunk of The Goddess gem within it. Callum had started writing down any new history he learned in a notebook Fred gave him. A small dragon the size of a dining chair stumbled towards Fred, handing him a fancy-looking letter. Fred quickly read through it and looked a bit surprised.
“What’s it about? If I can ask…”, Callum asked.
Fred put the letter back in the torn envelope, “It’s a letter from a friend of mine that lives in the L’ad region.”
“L’ad? Euhg. I remember that sad ice waste… I was there not right before I got hurled into The Overworld..”, Sam whispered the last part to Callum. “The place is infested with more monsters than Oheň(O-hen… Yeah).”
“That’s the reason for this letter. My good friend said that the town they live within is being infested with more monsters each week. They have asked for my help… Though I don’t think I can accept their request, I have much to do here. I am part of a group and a very important group at that. We take care of the things of old, the relics of the past, sacred things that if anything got their claws or hands on, disaster could fall. I cannot afford to leave this place while our members are low on numbers.” Fred became serious again.
“Hmmm… Could we go instead?” Callum turned to Sam.
“What?? Why would we want to go to that… That… Stupid wasteland?! Trolls roam under every bridge, every cave, haunted penguins or polar bears, maybe even ROCS will attack us at every corner!” Sam shivered at the thought of going back, and not because of the frigid temperatures.
Fred became bubbly again, pleading for the two of them to go help his friend in L’ad. Sam kept refusing, and refusing, saying that Callum had never been in a monster-infested place before(conveniently not mentioning he’s also from The Overworld). After trying to convince Sam for almost 20 minutes, he finally caved.
“Fine! Alright! Alright. We can go to that ice dump for you… What exactly does your friend want us to do there?”
“They said they need help to find the source of the monsters. Rumor has it that there is a hidden area where the monsters are… Spawned, basically. They don’t get birthed and grow, they just… Appear.”
“So... You want us to go to… Lat? Let? To find where these monsters just appear from, destroy it? And then come back? Maybe kill a few monsters on the way back?” Callum said with a hand on his chin.
“Yes! See, the short-eared blond one here gets it!” Fred clapped
“Fine… You provide our supplies though since technically you were the one that was supposed to do this, not us.” Sam said, pointing to Fred.
——————————————————————————————————
Fred told Callum, and Sam to stay for the night since it had already hit around 5 pm when Sam decided to do Fred’s task. The three of them had eaten dinner and went to sleep in a guest room Fred had in his little cottage. By the time they got up, Fred had all their supplies ready. There was a basket of food for each of them, a smaller bag full of coins attached to the side of those baskets, and another bag of clothing. The bags were stacked on top of each other, so Sam and Callum could hold them easily like a backpack with multiple openings. They said their goodbyes, and headed off to L’ad which was… Oh… Two whole regions away… Great. They were currently in Tráva(Trah-vah), and needed to travel North to Čerešňa(cher-esh-nah), and then West from Čerešňa to get to L’ad. They decided after 2 hours they would take a break for 20 minutes, meaning within 10 hours they could make it halfway there. Sam hoped they could make it to L’ad in a week at least. They set up camp, Cal set up the fire while Sam set up the food and sleeping areas. When they woke up that morning the fire was now just charcoal and embers. They ate breakfast, consisting of some dried fruits and vegetables that were crunchy, almost like chips. They headed out to the docks that lead to Čerešňa, hoping they could make it there by nighttime if they went fast enough.
I've been working on a story that will have at least 3,000 words for school, and decided when it's done I'll put it in here! It will have two main characters, and Fred will be included! Callum(Cal), human of The Overworld. Sam, the traveler of Surelia. And then Fred! Fred the elf of Surelia. Sam comes from Surelia, and is teleported to The Overworld after he blacks out. He wakes up in a theme park, and after exiting he meets Cal. Cal invites Sam to live with him, and Sam tells him the basics of Surelia and such. They find themselves back in Surelia, and meet Fred. Fred receives a letter from Wren, saying there are more monsters then usual. S & C go to the very north of L'ad in the north to find the source of the monsters, and destroy it. Here's a little peak!
His eyes opened. Half asleep, and already confused. The world shaped around him as his eyes adjusted to the dark. Sounds of water falling on rocks played through his head, water droplets splashing on him as he rolled onto his back.
After a few moments of laying there, letting his eyes, ears, and brain adjust to what was around him, he finally sat up; taking in even more of his surroundings. Sam was confused when he saw the shiny black rock, slick with water, and the green weeds poking through the cracks. He remembered he had finally gotten information from the southern part of the L’ad region, and headed back to his own village. After just barely making it out of the coldest region in Surelia, the ground shook, and crumbled beneath him. He felt himself falling through the earth before it all went black. Now Sam was here, in this unknown place that was most likely nowhere near L’ad. He got up, wiping the water droplets from his face, and clothes. He went around the small waterfall, taking in the outside world. There were trees, rocks, and so much grass. The grass was so green that it almost looked fake, the area was surrounded by a short wall. He walked out, following the wall, and was met by a gate about 6 ½ feet tall that had a sign saying, ‘Surelia’ on it. That was odd… Why would there be a sign with the name of the whole kingdom of Surelia on it? Was this place like a giant map that people could walk through? He’d heard some of the larger cities had some of those. He saw a few people past the gate, wearing odd clothes, and holding even more odd objects. They were wearing colors that could only be found in flowers, and some rare creatures. Bright purples, pinks, a blue more blue than the sky, and they were all so weird looking. There were no guards patrolling the ‘town’, and only a few ladies were wearing dresses. The dresses that were being worn were extremely short, making their way around the knees. Sam had heard in some places that women wore shorter dresses, reaching above the ankles, but in the region that Sam grew up in it was frowned upon. Sam opened the gate, and saw stalls of so much variety. The place was bubbly, and bright, filled with laughter and excitement. He walked around the ‘town’ for a bit, and saw very weird looking buildings. The buildings were adorned with magic lights, colors of all sorts, weird names like “Rocket ship” written in bright bold letters, and even some with paintings of aliens, people, magic items, etc. There were a few people that dressed similar to him, but they still seemed off to Sam, so he decided to ignore them while finding a way out of this place.
Here is this! I could have written more, but I don't have very much motivation lately. I guess I'll draw the map of Surelia now since I have nothing better to do!
There lived the people of the ice. This particular one was named Wren. Wren was an iguana lizardfolk(I know, funny a tropical type cold blooded lizardfolk lives in a town of ice). Wren was a mage, that was one reason why they could live on the ice plains. At this time, Wren was writing a letter to a friend that lived near The Gated Forest(wonder who...). This letter was for his eyes only, the ink they used illuminated the glistening walls of the igloo. They finished the letter, and sent it off by a Bird of the Elements that could withstand the harshest of terrain with little effort.
So, the Surelia does have a plot, kind of. I just don't really know how the plot goes. With the stories I've written they aren't in order.. at all.. Maybe I can try to organize them later, right now I'm too lazy to do that though...
It was still sprinkling by the time you got off the bus. You couldn’t tell exactly where the rain was coming from, for as far as you could see it was still pretty sunny out, other than a few clouds. You walked behind your house towards the forest, and when you looked up you could see a rainbow had appeared in the sky. You wandered off the trail for a moment, finding a weird looking mushroom that had started sprouting within the cracks of a tall tree. That was when you noticed something through the thicket, something glowing… You realized you were somewhere below the rainbow, when you looked straight up you could see the rainbow curving down towards you. You looked back down, and the glowing thing was where the ‘end’ of the rainbow should be. When you neared, you saw a shallow pond, and in the middle of said pond was a stone pedestal. The pedestal had cracks in it, making it look like it was made from marble. Water was going through the cracks, down into the pond. The thing that caught your eye the most though, was a book. An old book that had no name, author, or writing on the cover, looked extremely old as well. You picked up the book, and the weird glow that seemed to come from everywhere, and nowhere had vanished…
When you made it home you opened the ominous forest book. The book seemed to have almost 700 pages, and was filled with strange words, strange pictures, and an even stranger map of multiple continents that didn’t exist. Two recurring words that had been capitalized, and said more than a few times within the book were, ‘Surelia’, and ‘Surelians’. Looking through the book gave you a headache, so you went to sleep and left the mystery book for tomorrow you to handle.
