Possibilities

A line in the water will always catch my attention. I keep hoping to witness a  man-vs.-fish drama amid the smattering of surf anglers on Hilton Head’s 12-mile-long South Beach. 

But in four years I’ve witnessed only fishing. Never catching.

Patience is, of course, the lifeblood of fishing, accompanied by a philosophical outlook. As it says on a website summarizing the fishing opportunities here:

"If you’re not worried about filling the cooler or reeling in a monster, you can have plenty of fun fishing from dry land." And there’s no danger of sinking.

Theoretically, anglers can catch redfish and bluefish from the beach. There’s a chance - a possibility. That’s all an angler needs.
