When you want things done right, invest in a training programme
Skill, planning and a lot of training are what make Magicman repairs look incredible and so easy. That is why we celebrate every group of new trainees when they become qualified.
In some jobs more than others, there is a right way of doing things with proven and measurable results but consequently of course there is also a wrong way that ends in failure. This is especially true of technical roles.
It may be convenient to blame the skills gap as people have done for decades but when you have bespoke methodologies in place or want to protect your intellectual property perhaps you should consider training people yourself.
Yes there is the risk of drop-outs or creating highly skilled workers that are attractive to competitors but better to identify employees who are incompatible to your business early on. As for head hunters and defectors, you can protect your company to a large degree through employee contracts and a legal framework that includes non-disclosure agreements and embargoes on working for rival companies.
But the best protection of all is to engender loyalty through fair pay and career advancement. Magicman is accredited as a Living Wage Employer and apply a minimum of the higher London Living Wage to all staff nationwide.
Ultimately as an employer only you know what standards must be met and how the right results are achieved. It is because of that realisation that the Magicman Training Academy and rolling 5 week training programme came into existence. Every Magicman technician goes through extensive training on how to perform every kind of hard surface repairs, as well as colour matching, health and safety and customer care.
Only when they are fully qualified do we send them out into the field to help our customers and even then they are fully supported by some our most experienced and longest serving technicians regionally and at Head Office. Further training is available when technicians want or require it either to brush up on skills or to embrace technological advancements and changes in work practices.
Not since Hogwarts has an academic institution turned out so many magicmen and women. Regular readers will know that Magicman have invested heavily in a new Training Academy which is a recognition of its importance in our operations overall but our bespoke training programme is an investment in people as well as facilities.
So Magicman would like to congratulate our latest trainees on completing their 5 week course successfully and receiving their certificates. Well done Florin, Kamil, Luke, Jeremy, Ricardo and Mindaugas pictured above. Thank you for being so dedicated and working hard.
All 6 have now joined our nationwide team of repair technicians where they are helping Magicman customers on a daily basis and today a new set of hopefuls have taken their place in the Magicman Training Academy.
