Feature Friday at The Dice Cabana
If you run a startup or you're looking to execute on an idea you have,then Feature Friday is the perfect event for you. It's a great event for networking with founders and entrepreneurs and see what's new in the tech industry in Seattle. I met with Nick Hughes from SURF Incubator and we chatted a bit about the event.
Tell us a bit about Feature Friday?
With Feature Friday I wanted to introduce a unique event to the tech community scene. Feature Friday gives a chance for startups who can't afford a launch party the chance to present their product or feature. It's a happy hour that takes place at the Dice Cabana at SURF Incubator. Five companies are handpicked to present in front of hundreds of people from tech community. Each company has 99 seconds to announce and demo their product. To add a twist to the event, the audience gets to vote for the company that they like best.
The presenting time is short, after which the audience gets to ask the companies questions. This allows people to network after and build connections. This networking can lead to opportunities that can benefit them or their company in the long run.
This event is perfect for?
I would say the event is perfect for anyone with an idea that they would love to work on. Again, it's a great event for startups looking to introduce their product to the tech community. It's also a good place for people working in big companies to get a feel of what it takes to start your own company.
Advice for startups presenting their company?
I would sum it up in three things: Who are you and what are you announcing? Describe your product or new feature.What's your value proposition? And of course remember to be brief and to the point in your answering these questions.
It's actually a great exercise for startups and companies. It gives them the opportunity to describe their company and value and fit all this in just 99 seconds.
Why Friday?
There's a few tech events that happen at the end of the week. So what better way to end a week full of work than by connecting and having a drink with people who are going through what you are. It's the perfect friday event. Where you come in, meet other startups and connect with people in the tech community. This event might be the initiator for a fun friday night. Also the name kind of has the perfect rhyme to it: Feature Friday!
Feature Friday takes place at the Dice Cabana at SURF Incubator every last friday of the month.
