There’s not too many full length skate videos coming out nowadays, and even less physical copies. You’ve gotta get them when you can. “The Flare” is a good one... #surfzoneclassicvideomonday (at Surf Zone)

The title "Bag of Suck" is somewhat sarcastic. This movie from enjoi, released in 2006, is not a bag, and it most definitely does not suck. It is actually quite good. It has that signature enjoi sense of humor combined with plenty of great skateboarding action. I always like to watch Louie and Jason Adam's parts, but it's Jerry Hsu who steals the show with a career defining two song ender that is equal parts beautiful and brutal. I also like the children's book style DVD packaging. #surfzoneclassicvideomonday
In 2003, as the debate of fresh vs hesh, tech vs style was raging on as it always had, TNT was on fire with multiple contest wins, taking down many more technical, less stylish skaters. In the Tampa Pro 2003, he skated the park like a bowl to take the win. Shredders rejoiced and tech nerds were left crying. Remember that one guy who got second who threw his trophy away? That was classic! #surfzoneclassicvideomonday
Sight Unseen... Heath's part is magical, Dollin can flip his board really quick, the montage with Lance Mountain, Tommy Guerrero, and that Ray Barbee no comply is awesome, Tosh skates to a J Mascis song that I like, and I always liked that roof drop in where the guy breaks his tail and that Shins song kicks in... Oh, and I almost forgot... All hail Cardiel! On a side note: This one came out in the era when a lot of movies were coming out on VHS and DVD. I always like how DVDs from this time always came with an insert that had the chapter list written on it. #surfzoneclassicvideomonday

One Step Beyond from Adio footwear represents the apex in big budget video production from the era of the skate shoe super team. Released in 2001, and directed by Josh Stewart, the film features top notch skateboarding from Adio's A list team, including Jeremy Wray, Kenny Anderson, Kris Markovich, Danny Montoya, Ed Selego, Brian Sumner, Kenny Anderson, Bam Margera, and Tony Hawk, set to a stellar soundtrack featuring songs from Guns n Roses, Van Halen, Radiohead, J Mascis, Queens of the Stone Age, HIM, and more! My favorite segment is Bam's, but the whole video is phenomenal. Tony Hawk's super ramp gap segment is ridiculous, and I love the music in this one. The riff on the J Marcus song is rad, and you can't beat hearing "My Michelle"... If you want to watch this one with the proper soundtrack you have to watch the VHS, because a bunch of songs were changed on the DVD release due to the fact that all the songs had to be properly cleared for distribution to the big box stores. The DVD is worth watching for the "Making Of" feature where we get the behind the scenes on Kenny Anderson's nose manual from Vegas to LA. Check out the Josh Stewart episode of The Nine Club for more about this one. @mystaticlife @thenineclubshow #surfzoneclassicvideomonday
Here's a Steve Caballero promo video from that time when Powell was just Powell and not Powell-Peralta, that came out in 1996, which I found in the ol' VHS collection. Back before the internet took over every aspect of our lives a lot of companies would put together these promo videos and send them to skate shops, usually to hype up the release of a new video or other new product. It's cool to go back and watch these old promos because, much like watching an old 411, it's sort of a time capsule. This video features a profile featuring some interviews as well as some footage from the Powell-Peralta archives, and plenty of Street Cab. It was made by 411 productions. #surfzoneclassicvideomonday
