Well, hello there! So, I've "known" you for a loooong time; since the days of dS and TS when you were two different authors that we all secretly knew were the same person. Miss those late nights on the Squidge server's mIRC rooms, throwing fic ideas around and slapping each other with trout! My question tonight, though - what is your favorite AO3 tag to follow down the rabbit hole?
Hey there, you!! *grins!* Yeah, it’s been a long strange trip, hasn’t it?- though I tell you, I am STILL on IRC a great deal of the time, though typically in the mornings (late nights, sigh, not so much my bag anymore) and I haven’t used that trout feature in a while, I’d forgotten all about that!
There were a lot of things involved in the pseud change way back when, but being as it’s late and I’m feeling kind of tumblr-happy, and so that you young’uns out know that everyone has their moments of insecurity, I can say that ONE of the reasons I did it was that someone said something pretty mean to me at the time, which was that nobody would ever “tell me the truth” about my fic because I was a prolific writer and they would be afraid I’d “turn off the spigot.” And that made me feel like, wow, maybe it was just some Sentinel BNF thing and people were just being nice to me because I wrote so much and so I posted the first few DS stories under a new pseud, and you know, people said nice things about it anyway, and recced it etc. after which I didn’t really care about hiding so much--and here we are, whatever, 15 years later, and I’m reasonably confident that people like my work and aren’t lying to me about it. :D But you know, everybody has those moments where you wonder.
Anyway - I regret to say I don’t follow tags! I know, i’m terrible! I just read in my pairing, and I click if the summary sounds interesting, I can usually tell within a couple of paras if I’m gonna like the story or if they just write good summaries!
