they might wear knackered converse or classic reeboks*
I’ve owned probably three pairs of trainers in my life. I say three because I still own all three of them. First of all, what do you call these things? When I was little, we called them tennis shoes, or tennies. Then I grew up and there came all these different names: athletic shoes, jogging shoes, sneakers, and then trainers cos I a married an English guy. I like trainers. The word, if not so much the shoe, although I have found a few I can do business with.
I still remember so vividly walking into the DKNY outlet at Carlsbad and buying these superobnoxious bright orange and yellow shoes in the late 90’s, probably preceding a trip to Disneyland because that always makes me break out in a panic of I NEED CUTE COMFY SHOES TO WALK IN! I am pretty vain, and almost always favor fashion over function, but I cannot sacrifice the comfort of my feet on an all-day-walking type of outing. People who wear heels to the swap meet blow my mind. First of all, we’re at the swap meet. Second of all…we’re at the swap meet.
These L.A.M.B. babies (no really, the style name is “Baby”) have been my go-to’s for a few years now and I got them for crazy cheap at local heroes Shoe Metro, which is a pretty big e-retailer located right here in San Diego. I’ve gone to their brick-and-mortar place as well as shopped online because they have frequent sales and free shipping deals. They still have this model as well as lots more L.A.M.B., and they have been reduced even further now if you can believe that.
