After one week, the AO3 Demographics Survey 2024 has now received 12,200 responses (not counting spam submissions).
This means we have now passed the number of submissions to the AO3 Census 2013, making this the largest multi-fandom demographics survey ever conducted! (At least, as far as I'm aware.)
Thank you so much to everyone who has completed the survey or signal-boosted it! We still want to gain as many responses as possible - the more people take part, the more accurate our results will be!
When I said is was the season of delays I didn’t mean that as a challenge, but the universe took it as such. So I got NOTHING done during what should have been a productive time. Glorious. Hope the rest of you had a better holiday.
Did you guys know that dehydration can cause severe stomach and back pain? Because I didn’t know that.
In other news, the winner of the survey was Lurien’s backstory. Runner up being PKQ&Q: Wyrm physiology. So those will be the next two bonus content to come out between comics.
169 ACOTAR fans have filled out my ship/sentiment survey (!)
A few days ago I posted an update on the response rate of this bananas ACOSF (and beyond) ships/sentiment survey I am running ahead of the book release in 10 days (!!!).
This is very cool y'all! Please reblog or share the original post so we can increase the response number even more ✌🏻
At that time, reporting on just one of twelve questions on the quick (less than 3 minutes to take) survey, there were 123 survey responses and Elucien was in the lead between the options of Elucien, Elriel, and Neutral / I’m not sure, with the very cool data point that even though Elucien was in the lead, the three options were very close to evenly divided.
There are now 169 survey responses! Y’all rock! Want to see an update on the Elucien/Elriel question, as well as what survey responders think of Rhysand? Peep after the break for another update...
So, 168 out of 169 survey responders, as of this writing, have responded to the question: Who do you ship Elain with more, Lucien or Azriel?
When looking at those 168 responses, it is still an almost even split between the three main options, but Elriel has moved into the lead with 35.7% of responses shipping Elain with Azriel, 31.5 % of responses shipping Elain with Lucien, and 26.8% of responses selecting Neutral / I’m not sure.
The other colors in the graph now equal 6% of responses so far. They are folks who selected “Other” and then had a space to write what they wanted to. I am still blocking those out because I want to look at them more closely before I share any patterns, though this number increased from 4% the last time I shared an update.
Let's look at what responders so far think of Rhysand! The question here is: Where do you fall when thinking about Rhysand?
Then there's a 1-5 Likert scale with 1 = Anti Rhysand and 5 = Pro Rhysand.
What is really interesting here is, when I looked closely at results with a sample size of 123 responses, the results favored Pro Rhysand (but I didn't screenshot that so you'll have to take my word for it).
But now, with 169 responses, sentiment about Rhysand has evened out, with the Anti Rhysand side slightly ahead, with the following breakdown:
Anti Rhysand
1 = 23.1 %
2 = 20.7%
3 = 27.8% (Neutral)
4 = 13.6%
5 = 14.8%
Pro Rhysand
At this time, the Neutral score of 3 has more responses than all other options, but looking at scores 1 and 2 in comparison to scores 4 and 5, more folks skew Anti Rhysand than Pro Rhysand out of those who have responded so far.
Is there a correlation between shipping Elain with Lucien and being Pro Rhysand / shipping Elain with Azriel and being Anti Rhysand???
IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY 👀
The best way to help me get to the bottom of this question, and all the other questions that sparked my curiosity and led me to create this survey, is to take the survey if you haven't yet, and share it with your fellow ACOTAR stans! ✌🏻🌱
Five days into the AO3 Demographics Survey 2024, we have now received almost 9,000 responses!
We really appreciate everyone who has participated so far, sent feedback, or shared the survey. (If you haven't finished the survey yet, you can find it at https://forms.gle/2kt5J17ipzcAbnFY9)
We want to reach as many people as possible with this survey, in as many places as possible. If you use any non-Tumblr social media for fandom, we would really appreciate you making a post to spread the word! Bonus points if you send it for inclusion on our sharing page.
The AO3 Demographics Survey is now closed with a final count of 16,131 responses!
Huge thanks to everyone who took part. The level of participation has been really incredible, and we've received some really helpful feedback that we'll be writing up along with the results.
We should begin posting the survey data in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you're following this blog to see those posts!
We're now about halfway through the survey time period, and we have received around 14,100 responses. (1,900 in the last week)
Response rates have slowed down a lot after the initial rush, which we expected. I would predict that currently we're on track to get 16,000-18,000 total responses by the time the survey closes on 1 Feb.
As a stretch goal, it would be amazing to get 20,000 responses and have twice as many as in the 2013 survey - however, that would require a significant boost in people responding over the next couple of weeks!
It's been three days and there are 123 responses to my ACOSF survey 🎉
The survey I'm referring to is my ACOSF (and beyond) ships/sentiment survey.
This is very cool y'all! Please reblog or share the original post so we can increase the response number even more ✌🏻
Wanna see a sneak peek at what the responses to the Elucien/Elriel question are like? Peep after the break...
Question reads: Who do you ship Elain with more, Lucien or Azriel?
It is an almost even split between the three main options: Elucien with 35.8%, Elriel with 29.3%, and Neutral / I'm not sure with 30.9%. At this time, Elucien is a bit more in favor than the other two options.
The other colors in the graph equal 4% of responses so far. They are folks who selected "Other" and then had a space to write what they wanted to. I blocked those out because I want to look at them more closely before I share any patterns.
And also because the higher the number of responses, the better in terms of finding patterns!
Share this or the original survey post with your fellow ACOTAR fans and let's see if these numbers change at all as more responses come in.
So the month of May is already here... gosh time flies and I am not adjusted to it!!!
Anyway, thank you all for doing my survey! A lot of changes to the one around New Year’s appeared! And I am all here for it!
First of all, I am overwhelmed that you’re all happy with my blog! I’m just really glad that even with my chaos and all, you’re still enjoying your time here. Thank you! I appreciate it!
Second of all, even though I didn’t plan on making Arcane or 6 Wolves and a Fox more than just one shots, it appears that their lengths calls for a split or two.. For my conscious because most of you guys voted that it’s my choice when to split. Second most votes for 25k+ (even though I am veryyyyyy sure I’ll never create a one shot that long.. unless 6 Wolves and a Fox continues like it currently does...)
ANYWAY! I updated my schedule and reduced myself to posting two things a month. Two stories that are purely from me. Meaning: If you have requests or should I join yet another collab, there will probably be more posted than just two stories. But sadly I had to come to the realisation that I am not able to keep my pace up with my current work and stress load. So that’s why I reduced the amount.
So yeah, thanks again and I hope to get enough head space to write faster again. Also thanks for coming by and reading whatever I post! Feel free to leave some messages, even if it’s a key smash. I most likely feel the same and would key smash back.. a whole new world of communication...
Yeah, I’m rambling again. But please do drop by and talk with me.
