One roleplaying pet peeve is when people reblog ask memes without sending something to the person they reblogged it from, especially if it doesn’t involve an interaction (e.g. it’s a ‘send a symbol for a headcanon about (insert subject here)’ or something.) I get it if the original source is gone, so I can forgive that. But it’s mainly so I can try and keep my notifications tidy than anything else. Because when one person reblogs it from you, and then someone reblogs from them, and then someone reblogs from that person, and on and on, you get flooded.
I don’t really get mad over it, at least not as annoyed as I used to, if it happens to me now (even though it’s in my rules to please try and remember). I’ve just gotten to where I just roll my eyes and scroll on. I just can’t be arsed to try and remind people anymore. There’s not much point.
What usually makes me unfollow is when a mun uses Autistic people or Autism itself to insult people or Autistic traits, or saying stuff such as “oh, he’s so misogynistic, I bet he’s an autistic neck beard in his mother’s basement, ha ha!” Same for stuff like ‘Autistic screeching’ or whatever it’s called.
As an Autistic mod, I find it shitty, and I won’t be sticking around with anyone who does that. If someone does do that, they’re implying that people like me are bad or inferior and that it’s perfectly acceptable to use us as an insult.
Even if I agree with someone’s previous points, if they follow up with something like ‘put down the Autism and grow a fucking spine’ (yes, someone did post that), then I’m gone.
We’re people, we’re all different and diverse as neurotypical folks. We’re just trying to live our lives and have fun with our hobbies when we can. We’re not a joke or an insult and it actually hurts when people reduce us to that.
The same goes for using any kinds of slurs, like the ‘r word’. I find it fair enough if it’s appropriate for the muse and the time they live in (and it’s in-character), or the mod is ignorant to why they shouldn’t say it (and maybe try and advise them on why it’s not cool), but if it’s done on purpose, then I won’t hang around.
Also, when people imply that ace people don’t belong in the LGBT community (I don’t feel like I belong there anyway, but other aces do, and regardless of my feelings, gatekeeping just sucks anyway) or that we just need to shut up, stop speaking, and stop trying to be involved, or talk about our lives or experiences because they’re apparently not as important or worth listening to, or that we’re somehow faking the issues we face. I usually don’t follow those people if they speak about that in their rules or mun page (one for example said to ask to follow first if potential followers had any ace headcanons or they were ace) but if they don’t, then I end up unfollowing anyway if they do say stuff like that.
I don’t need to see that kind of stuff. Not when I’m trying to roleplay in any case.
I get it. I get that we don’t face a lot of the same struggles that other members of the LGBT community might face (unless an ace person is also trans for example), but we do have our own struggles that I don’t think we should be ignoring because we ‘don’t have it as bad’ (according to most other people). It’s not some kind of race to see who is the worst off. Also despite our differences, I still I think we should stand together in solidarity, rather than just push each other away.
