My parents and I went to Sushi Ran for my mom's birthday. Sushi Ran is a Michelin Star resturant, it is in the sweet little area of Sausalito. I didn't really care for Sushi Ran, many because their portions are too small for the price. Now, if that is the type of food person you are, then you are not a foodie. Foodies are peoplewho are willing to try any place, whether it is in a shady area, or high end. We try everything, we DARE to EAT. I ordered their noodles, and it was the size of a rice bowl. I'm not saying that the food is bad, it was actually very well exquisite. There is a lot of flavor in the few bites you have, but it can never fulfill you, unless you are willing to spend $50 per person. Sushi Ran, however was the first place I found one of my favorite ginger ale, Bundaberg.

Sadly to say, after we ate at Sushi Ran, I had to beg my parents to stop at McDonalds so I could get some chicken nuggets and a McFlurry.

Lunch Prices:

Lowest: $3.00 for Lemonade or Iced Tea

Highest: $23.00 Miso Glazed Black Cod OR Vietnamese Shaking Beef

 Dinner Prices:

Lowest: $2.50 for Fresh Wasabi

Highest: $38.00 Sashimi Plate (10 pieces)

 *That is outrageous that it cost you $2.50 for fresh Wasabi!!!

San Francisco: Escape the Fog, Enjoy the Sushi

The Spot:  Sushi Ran is a restaurant tucked away in the streets of Sausalito just across the Bay from San Francisco.  It has a creative menu that changes month-to-month and most of the fish is flown in daily from the Tokyo fish market.  The people who know, know that it serves up the best sushi in California.  Before you eat, take a walk along the Sausalito waterfront at sunset.  And enjoy 360 degree views of the Bay Area during the ferry ride connecting downtown San Francisco to Sausalito.

Logistics:  You are staying at the Hyatt Regency down by the Ferry Building.  Walk for two minutes to the water and to the south side of the Ferry Building (the long building with the big clock tower).  You'll probably want the 6:45pm ferry.  The Ferry schedule is here.  When you arrive in Sausalito, walk up the waterfront away from San Francisco about 200 yards.  Sushi Ran is at 107 Caledonia Street, Sausalito two blocks inland from the waterfront.  Chances are you won't finish dinner by the last ferry, so call 415-789-1999 for Sausalito taxi to take you home.  It should be about ten bucks.
