Finally sewing a project I cut and stuffed in a drawer a year ago. The "barrier" was needing very specific measurements and a lot of ironing. I think I'll need to upgrade to a cordless iron. I keep burning myself, trying to keep the damn cord out of the way.

All of it has to be hand-sewn.

Then I will have to do a perfect match. Perfect, so I'll just do that. But then I'll have the interchangeable sleeves for all my summer antiques. Or at least, many of them.

I'll probably have to make several in different fabrics.

But one set at a time.

Handmade: Orochi Susoyke in progress

Making a susoyoke with some pieces of discontinued cotton fabric. JoAnns released this incredibly soft organic cotton gauze some years ago. See, if more of their fabrics had this level of quality, instead of literally endless aisles of either quilting cotton or actual plastic in different colours and thicknesses, I'd probably have bought fabric much more often.

Look at those holes! Threadlines always leave such large gaps from machine sewing.

Today on Projects I've Finished: Susoyoke. This is a half-slip/wrap-around skirt thing meant to be worn under kimono. I had snagged a home-made one at one of the last festivals and really like wearing it under my kimono that don't have as much overlap in the front as I like. I took the measurements from that one and used them to... well... make a rectangle with ties. But I did it all this afternoon, and after the crafty dry spell I've been having recently, I'm feeling rather accomplished indeed. If I'm REALLY good, I'll write up something more detailed for my blog.
