Castiel pulled his cloak tighter around him to try and ward off the chill from the night air. It seemed that these late nights seemed to grow colder and colder. He paused just briefly to glance over the rolling hills before him before continuing his patrol of the armaments. It was late but it wasn’t as if he had anywhere else to be; he was the Knight Commander of the King’s Arms, he took pride in his work and nothing could pull him from it.
He paused to nod at one of the guards as they passed each other but said nothing. How long had he served until King John? It had to have been the better part of a decade and now that he had passed his son was due to take over. Cas had only met the man briefly, but it was enough to notice the Alpha’s reckless nature. He obviously had his reservations about the boy’s ability to rule but it would not interfere in his duties. That is… if the newly appointed Monarch allowed him to keep his position.
No, Castiel would be fine. Even if he were demoted, he would take pride in training his replacement. Though there was no real worry that he’d be replaced, not unless… Well, not unless someone discovered what he really was… He was sure the younger Prince had figured it out long ago. Sam was far too intelligent for his own good, it worried him some time… But as far as he knew the boy never told anyone Castiel’s secret and for that the Knight Commander would be forever grateful. He had worked far too hard to gain his title. Of course, he couldn’t take all the credit; if it wasn’t for Hannah, he would have never discovered how to hide his scent so effectively.
He offered another murmur of greeting as another guard bowed in respect as Castiel passed, a bit too lost in his own head to really pay attention where he was heading.
King Dean was a strong Alpha, he considered himself to be fair and just, just like how he runs the Kingdom. Though if it wasn’t for his brother Sammy, he would be lost. He much preferred to be out with the King’s Cavalry actively protecting his Kingdom. He was walking through the fields above the Kingdom, looking down on what he ruled. As he walked he noticed the Knight Commander walking towards him. King Dean jogged up to him. “Castiel isn’t in? I’ve been meaning to have a discussion with you. How about we have it now?” He asked, as he held his hand out to the Commander.
Cas glanced up as his name was called, intense gaze falling on the man in question. He straightened immediately, tension obvious in his shoulder. “Your Majesty.” Castiel greeted quickly, fist pressing against the thin metal covering his chest as he bowed deeply. “I was not aware you were out for a stroll. I apologize for not sending an escort.” He hurried before the man’s words sank, causing him to frown, thankful that his low bow hid the expression. The King wished to have a discussion this late… it did not bode well.
“Oh no, no. I did not tell anyone.” King Dean smiled. “I prefer coming out here alone. You can straighten, Castiel. Unless you enjoy the reflection of your face in my boots.” Dean chuckled warmly. “There is no need to worry about this chat, it’s just a formality. We may as well do it now when we are both free, then try to find time in our schedules.”
The teasing had the Knight Commander flushing slightly as he did as he was instructed, lips still pursed in apprehension. “I… Understand your desire to be alone, Your Majesty, however, I do not think its wise for you to venture the grounds alone, especially with your recent rise to the throne.” He protested gently, unsure of Dean’s temperament when it came to question his actions in such a manner; King John certainly wasn’t too fond of it. Still, he fell in step next to the King. “I will be happy to discuss whatever you wish, My King, if you will allow me to walk with you.”
“If I was not born the eldest child, I would have joined the quests to search for far off lands. I feel the safest out here.” He explained. “But now I have you, to ensure my safest. That if you are loyal to me.” King Dean asked, raising an eyebrow. “You would never conceal your true actions, nor lie to the King would you?” He asked.
Castiel glanced at him once more, intense gaze narrowing at the implications. “I am loyal to the Throne, Your Majesty. You sit upon it. I am loyal to you just as I was loyal to your father. If I have given you any reason for doubt or concern, I will do what it takes to make things right. All you need do is name the task.” Castiel reassured, avoiding a direct answer in regard to his ‘true actions’ and ‘lies’. “It is my honor to serve this kingdom and the royal family.”
“Do not be so offended, Commander, or one could read into it. These are just formal questions, I am asking of the staff surrounding me.” King Dean hummed. He knew that Castiel was keeping something from him, but he wasn’t sure what it was. He decided to change tack and continue on with the formal questioning. “Throughout this transition period, I’m hoping you’ll take some slack, that I may cause, I am still trying to juggle many things, and as such, I may not answer your queries as quickly as my father.” He explained. “During this time I wish for you to follow your gut, or think back to what my father would have asked you to do. Will you do this?”
Cas blinked at the request, unsure of what to make of it. “Of course, Sire.” He mumbled after a moment’s hesitation. “I will do my duty with honor, have no doubt in that.” He encouraged with a nod. “I have a request, however, if you will hear me?” He offered, gaze shifting back in the direction they walked leisurely.
“Of course, Commander. But I do reserve the right to waiver the request if it is not suitable for a King to do.” King Dean smiled warmly, he watched Castiel walk, noting the softest of the cheekbones and narrower shoulder’s usually adorning Omega men.
"Of course, Sire." Castiel nodded, unaware of the King's attention to detail. "Ruling is a difficult job, one that I am certain you are already of aware of. But a King is only a great as his people. You are not alone in your power, Your Majesty. We are all here to help lighten the burdens of the crown. Forgive my brash nature, but this includes your brother. He may be young but he is wise beyond his years perhaps he could be of use in your transition to the throne." He offered, tensing slightly as he waited for the backlash the was undoubtedly coming. Castiel had a tendency to toe the line of insubordination but it had served him well on occasion.
I speak with my brother often.” King Dean hummed, he stopped walking and turned to Castiel. “He is helping with more... mundane matters at the moment. Is there a reason you wish for me to use my brother more frequently? He has a job of his own, that we both wish for him to attend to, and a good wife.” Dean hummed. “I do not wish to take too much of him time away from either of those matters.”
Castiel paused when Dean did, turning to face him as was proper. “Of course, Your Majesty, I would not wish to imply that you would.” He rushed, obviously worried he had offended the Monarch. “It is just that I have watched the two of you for the better part of ten years now. King John, God rest his soul, ensured that your brother remain on a very strict path and while I must respect his wishes, I fear that your brother’s talents and intelligence may not be utilized to their fullest. If allowed, I believe your brother would gain immeasurable honor in a more productive role. While a scholar is an honorable trade I feel his talents may be wasted scribing others’ words.” He explained before flushing deeply as he realized how it sound. “Though I, of course, would not presume to know anyone in the Royal Family with such familiarity.” He rushed. “I am merely making assumptions off a few rare observations of the boy.” When had he become so easily embarrassed? Perhaps it was just how warm it had suddenly gotten. The thought had him tensing as he realized that that couldn’t be right, the night had been chilled just a moment ago. No, it had to be the way the Alpha’s scent seemed to swirled around them in the evening air that seemed to heat him, making him realize that they were particularly close and causing him to take a step back.
King Dean eyed Castiel as he took a step back, as his cheeks flustered with warmth. “As you are so keen to hand out unwarranted advice, how about you give me advice. You are the Knight Commander of the King’s Arms. These following days, I wish to receive a full report on one of the men directly under you. Each day, until you have reported on each of them. Their strengths, their weaknesses, and where you would advise to place them.” Dean stated. “At dusk every night. Or, of course, you can explain why you refused to answer my question about whether you’re lying and telling me the entire truth of your actions.” Dean offered, with a wry smile.
Castiel’s stomach twisted almost painful at the words, eyes growing a bit wide in surprise. He could feel his heart pounding against his ribs noticeable as he quickly bent low at the waist once more. “Of course, Your Grace!” He rushed perhaps a bit too loudly. “I will have those reports ready and waiting just as you request.” He offered eagerly, pausing in his bow the action helping to conceal his worried look. “Forgive me for stepping out of line.” He added. “I meant no disrespect. It was wrong of me to assume you were in need of any such advice from someone such as myself. Though I fear I do not understand what actions you refer to, Sire. I try and conduct myself as honestly as possible.” ‘As possible’ being the key words. He had never lied to the man… Merely, provided a lack of information.
“Honesty. Yes, I agree. Yet you are not honesty about your entirety. You are keeping something from me. And as your King. If you do not wish to be demoted out of the Army, then I suggest, very wisely, that you provide all the information about yourself to me, right now.” Dean’s eyes narrowed, as he tried to piece together what Castiel’s secret could be. All he could imagine was that the Commander was an Omega, but that was surely untrue, his father would have noticed.
Cas’s brows furrowed as if confused as he straightened. “Of course, Your Grace. Whatever you wish.” He offered. “I was born Castiel Novak in a neighboring Kingdom, though I could not say which, to Charles Novak. My Mother died giving birth to myself and I do not know her name. I have too many siblings to name, most of which I couldn’t even if I tried fore I was very young when I was sold to a labor camp outside the walls of the city. After a few years among the slaves I presented and managed to escape by killing my direct caretaker and made a run for it. After a fortnight of scrounging for food I was collected by a small merchant train who cared for me until they reached your Father’s territory. I was left to care for myself with no money nor skills and thus began to gravitate towards the page boys who taught me to spar. Sir Metatron took notice of my willful nature and took me under his wing, educating me and guiding me towards knighthood. When the war broke out I served as a foot soldier beneath him, quickly rising in rank and glory on the battlefield. Until, of course, Metatron proved to be a traitor and fought against your father, may he rest in peace. Discovering this I led the rebellion against my mentor, ultimately slaying him and gaining great renown. Upon returning victorious in both the battle and the war I was given the title of Knight Commander and have served your father and your kingdom faithfully since.” He explained almost as if he had rehearsed the whole thing. He managed to keep an emotionless expression during the explanation aside from the small flash of pain that tainted his icy blues at the mention of his mentor’s death. “I hand pick each of the men in your service to ensure that history does not repeat itself and that the Kingdom’s integrity remains at its utmost strength. I wake early each morning to make my rounds, ensure my men are in peak physical and mental condition and assess any security issue that may pose itself. I eat my meals among my soldiers to boost moral and end my evening far past dusk after my final inspections. I find pride and satisfaction in my work which is why I have committed myself wholly to it. I have not, nor do I plan on marrying or having cubs for that reason. I am and will remain a faithful servant to the crown and while I hope this satisfies your curiosity, Sire, I respect your decision and have a list of men that I feel would excel as your new Knight Commander should you wish to replace me.” He offered with another bow.
WARNING: Talk of Rape... Noncon... blood, violence, and a lot of smut...
Dean opened the door to Gabriel, holding a tray of food for them both. “Come on in,” he whispered, stepping to one side, “Cas is still asleep.”
Gabriel wrinkled his nose at the scent of the room but nodded, silently, moving into the room to set the tray down, collecting the dishes from the breakfast the day before.
Dean smiled softly. “I’m sure Cas would want to speak with you? Do you want to wait? You can go into the office if you like.” He offered softly.
Gabriel shook his head as he collected the clothes that were scattered about as well. “No… I need to get back to the kitchens.” He explained. “I’m sure Cas would prefer to sleep. He gets so little of it without his heats.” He admitted softly.
Dean nodded, “he’s saying he’s not sleeping well. And he’s still incredibly pale. I don’t know if he’s ill and just hiding it or if it’s his heat.” He admitted.
Gabriel paused at that, glancing towards his brother’s sleeping form before moving to Dean’s side. “The paleness is probably from the mix of infection, exercise and loss of blood.” He admitted. “All of which should make him exhausted. So I don’t know why he’s not sleeping well.” He added, thinking aloud. “It shouldn’t be his heat… Then again… I’ve heard that some Omega’s who have experience… some abuse in the past, have a hard time sleeping during heat.” He shrugged. “He seems like he’s not having much trouble now.” He pointed out as he watched the Omega. “I brought up some pretty hearty food that should help him feel a bit better. Beyond that, I would just make sure his bandages are being changed regularly. I don’t think there is much we can do about the sleeping issue.”
Dean nodded, “I- has he ever been abused?” He asked softly. “We tried a... position which affected him badly.” He said softly. “He’s only been sleeping well when I’ve basically scented him to sleep. I changed the bandages as he fell asleep and when he wakes I’ll do it again. I might let him bathe with the bandages off to let the wounds soak in just warm water.”
Gabriel gave a small scoff at the question. “I’m surprised he didn’t tell you about when he let you share his heat with you.” He pointed out before hesitating. He wasn’t sure Cas would be okay with Gabriel telling Dean about his past. Still… it was obvious Cas trusted the Alpha, even if he would never admit it. “Why don’t we move to the office and I’ll tell you about it?” He offered, not wanting to risk Cas overhearing the conversation.
Dean looked over at Cas one more time before leading Gabriel into the office. “He’s only told me that he’s had one heat.” He said softly. “I’m just trying to help him through it. He seems so overwhelmed.”
The smaller Omega nodded, taking a deep relieved breath now that they weren’t in the room. He gave a small nod moving to sink down into a chair. “One real one, anyways.” He acknowledged. “Our Father wasn’t the greatest person…” He sighed. “After Mother died giving birth to Cas he grew worse. He always hated Cas… I think he felt like he was to blame for her death.” He admitted before shrugging. “When Cas presented as an Omega, it was an excuse to finally be rid of him. Father sold Cas to the first person who would have him. A traveling merchant looking for cheap labor and a good fuck. We were both very young… I wasn’t really aware of the details behind Cas leaving but I knew something was up, so I went after him, got hired on by the Merchant’s wife.” He explained. “It wasn’t long after that Cas went into his first heat. The Merchant had sent his wife away the moment he started noticing the signs which meant I went with her. I didn’t know what to look for… I was the youngest before Cas came along. He never really told me the details of what happened…” He admitted, his own scent shifting to anger, bitter hate, sorrow, and a lot of shame. Gabriel was very good at hiding his scent for the most part but there were times that his emotions seeped through, usually when they were far too strong to contain. He lowered his gaze, but continued. “We came back about a week later and Cas was nowhere to be found, but I could smell him… The Alpha reeked of him. His wife didn’t say anything… didn’t /do/ anything… But she knew… she knew! He refused to say anything until I threatened him with a knife… I wasn’t much of a threat back then but… I got my point across. He finally told me, when he got his hands on me… taunted me with it. Apparently he had had his way with Cassie until he couldn’t move, couldn’t make a sound… Then when his heat was over he dumped him on the side of a road somewhere and never looked back.” Gabriel explained, voice cracking as he stared down at his hands. “When I was able to walk again I back tracked, searching for my brother but… It had been a few days… For all I knew he was dead… I started asking everyone I could find but… no one knew anything… Or they didn’t care enough. That kind of thing happens to Omegas all the time… What was another one?” He shrugged. “That’s when I found Hannah. A Beta who took in injured or abused Omegas. She had found Cas after two days of him abandoned in a ditch. She had managed to nurse him back to health… At least as much as she could.” He explained. “She took me to him… but…” He had to pause, fighting back tears as he shook his head. “It was bad Dean…” He admitted, glancing up at the Alpha and using his actual name for the first time. “I’ve never seen someone like that…” He sighed before continuing. “Hannah let us stay with her for a few months… I had to practically force Cas to eat and when he did he usually threw it all back up… There were a few suicide attempts as well but he was pretty weak physically so none of them actually worked, luckily.” He sighed. “Thats when Hannah suggested suppressants. She warned they could have some pretty bad side effects but they’d almost completely rid him of his heats and most would think him an Alpha. She said she didn’t recommend it to most because they could usually recover but Cas… Well… It was bad and thats putting it lightly.” He sighed. “So we started him on a regiment and things turned around pretty quickly… Soon enough we ended up here and Cas became a knight in your father’s army and I became his Omega… He… hasn’t had a heat since.” He finished, falling silent, gaze a bit glazed at the memories, lost in his own head.
Dean sighed and looked down at his lap. What has he done? He’d forced Cas into being off the suppressants, into having a heat. “I’m sorry.” Dean whispered after a long time. “I can’t change the past, and I know whatever I say about it will never be good enough.” He whispered. “I’m sorry I made him come off the suppressants. I should be making him go through his heat.” He kept his gaze low, not wanting to show how upset he was with himself to Gabriel. “I- is there any chance of him... regressing into the state of mind?” He asked softly. “Is there anything I can do to help him? Or would it be best if I... keep my distance?” He asked, finally looking up at Gabriel. “What I did was wrong, but... is there a way I can fix it?”
Gabriel gave a snort at the questions, shaking his head. “I don’t know.” He shrugged honestly. “I’ve looked for others who have gone through that sort of thing but… Well.. it’s a toss up… Some regress some don’t but… none of them are like Cas... None of them have done the things he has.” He offered, obviously extremely proud of his brother. “Helping him… I doubt it… I’ve been trying for years and get shut down faster than I can blink… As for keeping your distance… It’s too late for that. The damage is done. You back off now and you’re going to hurt him worse than if you didn’t… and I won’t hesitate to kill you, King or not.” Gabriel warned, giving him an even look. “There’s no ‘fixing’ anything… No fixing Cas, no fixing what you did… There’s only working with what you have now to try and make life less shitty.”
Dean nodded. “I don’t want to hurt him.” He said softly. “I just want to try and make his life... less shitty, as you say. We just need to let him know we’re there for him, so if he needs us, we’re there to help.” Dean said softly. “I know you don’t like me or trust me, but wouldn’t you prefer him to turn to an Alpha like me who he knows, than an old Alpha he doesn’t know.” Dean said softly. “We can try to help him not to regress, but we need to at least work together to be there for him.”
Gabriel arched a brow at that. “/We/ don’t need to let him know anything.” He pointed out. “He knows I’m here for him, leans on me to help when he needs it, knows I’m there for him because I have been his whole life.” He pointed out. “I’d prefer him to do what he’s comfortable with, which /was/ not turning to an Alpha at all, outside of his work.” He added, obviously blaming Dean for all the trouble. “As for the regression…” He hesitated. “I’m not opposed to working with you as long as Cas wants to put up with you.” He mumbled begrudgingly. “I never said I didn’t like you… but you’re right, I don’t trust you as far as I can through you and I’m a lot weaker than I look.” He huffed. “I’d do anything for Cas though…I owe him that and so much more.”
“As far as I’ve heard Gabriel, you don’t owe Cas anything. You’ve been helping him for years. With injuries or his... mini heats. You’ve protected him just as much as he’s protected you.” Dean said softly. “We can talk about it more once Cas’ heats finished and he... doesn’t /need/ me any longer. But until then, we should keep a close eye on him, is there anything I should be looking for, to see if he is starting to regress?” Dean asked softly. “I’m with him most of the day, I can look for signs.” He offered. “You can see I’m helping with his wounds, allow me to help with this.l
“I dunno.” Gabriel admitted with a shrug. “From what I understand there isn’t any sure signs of regression to look out for… I think everyone might be different and Cas… he’s definitely unique.” He sighed in defeat. “I would just keep an eye out for any odd behaviors.” He offered. “Aside from that I’m at as much of a loss as you are.”
Dean nodded. “If I see any odd behaviours I’ll make sure I call for you and tell you as soon as possible.” He promised. “Should we tell him about the regression possibilities? I don’t want to add to worries. But he does have a right to know, he could look out for it in himself.” Dean said softly. “We’ll help Cas, and if that means stepping away from him, I will.”
Gabriel considered it a moment. “I don’t think thats a good idea. Cas is… well he’s very prideful.” Gabriel sighed. “I’m sure if we brought it up his reaction would be pretty fierce.” He admitted. “Maybe it’s best we don’t let him know we talked about his at all?” He offered. “The last thing I need his him mad at me again.”
Dean nodded, “of course Gabriel. Whatever you believe is best for him. You know him better than I.” He said softly. “I trust your opinion on what would be best for him.”
Gabriel arched a brow in surprise at that. “Wow… You’ve change a bit since I met you in the barracks.” He mused. “No threats or anything.” He teased.
“I’m just trying to be a better Alpha.” Dean said softly. “Stop using my power and position to get what I want. I want to be a good, fair King, and that starts with being good and fair to the people around me.” Dean explained.
Gabriel eyed him suspiciously for a moment before he seemed he was about to say something in return.
“Dean?” Cas’ groggy voice came from where he stood, blanket wrapped around him, gaze still half closed with sleep. “Where did you-” Cas began to ask before his eyes caught on the other Omega. “Oh… Hi Gabriel.” He mumbled. “Is it time for breakfast already?” He hummed, obviously still out of it as he leaned on the door frame.
“Hey Cassie.” Gabe greeted with a soft smile, suspicion fading from his features quickly at the sight of his brother. “Yeah… You hungry?”
“Mmm… Maybe after drills.” Cas replied, making Gabriel’s smile fade with worry. The Omega obviously was out of it enough to forget he wasn’t in command of his soldiers anymore.
“You should get him back to bed.” Gabriel mumbled toward the King as he collected the dishes from dinner the night before.
Dean nodded and held his hand out to Gabriel. “Thank you for speaking with me.” He said softly. “Cas, why don’t we take another five minutes in bed? Drills can wait for the moment.” He smiled at the Omega. “We need to change your bandages first though, before you start trying to drill others.” He said softly.
Gabriel nodded, shaking the Alpha’s hand before heading out.
Cas gave a disappointed hum at Dean’s words until he drew close and the Omega returned the smile, a hand going to rest on Dean’s chest. “How about I drill you instead?” He teased, softly, leaning against him with a yawn.
“So gross…” Gabriel grumbled under his voice before shutting the door behind him.
“After we have break and a bathe.” Dean said softly, leading Cas into the bedroom. “Shall we have a bath, and we can eat breakfast in there.” He offered, kissing Cas softly.
Cas gave a small yawn. “I rather go back to sleep.” He admitted softly, looking about as tired as he felt.
Dean frowned. “You’ve been asleep all night. We need to change your bandages.” He said softly. “Let’s have a bath together then we can go back asleep. How are you feeling in your heat?” Dean asked softly.
Cas gave a small shrug before hissing a breath at the pain it caused. “Fine.” He mumbled softly, hand going to his shoulder. He was healing quickly enough that he occasionally forgot about the wound but it was still there, reminding him when need be. “Another wave hasn’t hit yet.” He offered, turning to head towards the bathroom.
Dean nodded softly. “Do you know where you are, Cas? Do you know what job you have?” He asked as he led Cas into the bathroom.
Cas scoffed at that, such a stupid question. "I am Knight Com-" He blinked and frowned, disappointment suddenly strong in his scent. "Right... sorry. Yes... Royal Aide." He nodded. "Still waking up a bit... sorry."He offered with what he hoped was a reassuring smile.
Dean frowned but gave Cas a kiss on his forehead. “It’s okay, it’s probably just your heat.” He said softly, trying to sound convincing. He started to run the bath before wrapping his arms back around Cas. “What can you remember from last night?”
“Everything, I think.” He replied, leaning into the touch. “The wave… your office… then…” He flushed a bit. “How are you feeling? Are you sore? Was I too rough?” He asked, pulling back to study him, brows furrowed in worry.
“No no I’m fine. It was great.” Dean said softly. “Did you like it? You almost seemed overwhelmed.”
“It was… a lot.” He acknowledged. “But yes. It was incredible I never… I never realized sex could feel that way.” He admitted, flushing deeply with embarrassment.
Dean smiled “it was incredible.” He turned off the bath and held his hand to help Cas in. “If you climb in, I’ll take off your bandages and let your wounds soak.” He said softly. “How are you feeling today?”
Cas nodded moving to sink into the warm water with a pleased sigh, head falling back against the rim. “Fine.” He replied. “Should still hurts when I move it, but the other wounds have stopped aching quite so badly.” He offered, glancing at the Alpha. “I’m just tired. I feel like I’m more tired now that I’ve gotten a bit of sleep then I was before.” He shifted to allow his arms to sink into the water. “What about you? Have you slept?”
“I slept all night.” Dean nodded as he started to take off Cas’ bandages. “I’ll go fetch our breakfast will you get warm in there.” He hummed. “You’re probably tired because it’s all catching up on you. You can sleep more once we’re out of the bath.” He promised.
Cas gave a hum, nodding along with the words as Dean worked, letting his eyes close once more. “Not really hungry.” He admitted softly, with another yawn.
“Come on Cas, just eat something for me and Gabriel.” Dean said softly. “I know you’re tired but you still need to eat something.”
The Omega gave a huff but nodded. “Fine.” He grumbled before pausing. “Is that why he was here? To check up on me?” He asked curiously, obviously concerned that he was worrying his brother.
“No no, he was bringing us breakfast.” Dean said softly. He kissed Cas’ cheek before going to fetch their tray of breakfast. He brought it back into the bathroom and sat it on the side.
“Dean…” Cas sighed as he watched the Alpha move about, trying to care for him. “You don’t have to wait on me hand and foot, I’m sure I can manage.” He reassured.
“But what if I want to do this?” Dean asked softly. “I know you can manage, I don’t dispute that, but I want to help you Cas. Will you allow me?”
Cas gave a small chuckle at that. "Spoiling me is not 'helping' me." He teased. "But I wont stop you I'd you enjoy it."
“I definitely enjoy it.” Dean smiled. “Do you want some fruit or pastry?” He asked softly, before putting a strawberry in his mouth.
"Fruit." Cas nodded, shifting to hold out his hand for one. "Are you going to join me in here?" He asked, leaning his chin on his arm, lazily.
Dean hummed, “would you like me to join you in the bath?” He asked, placing a strawberry in Cas’ hand.
"Only if you want to." Castiel offered with a small smile as he popped the berry into his mouth.
Dean chuckled. “I would never pass up the opportunity.” He said softly, taking off his clothes. He carefully climbed in behind Cas and held him close. “I love you.” He said softly. “And I know you don’t feel the same, but I just thought you should know.” He added on quickly.
Cas smile faltered only briefly at the words before returning, his scent dripping with affection. "I know." He offered with a hum. "You reminded me quite a lot last night." He teased lightly. shifting to reach for the bowl of fruit and setting it in the water, watching it float between them with amusement.
Dean chuckled. “That’s because you’re the first Omega I’ve been with that’s wanted to do something for me, rather than just take.” He said softly, taking another slice of fruit. “I’ve always seen sex as a... responsibility, not something you could enjoy. It’s always just been something I’ve provided rather than enjoyed, but you’re... making me think that sex can be... recreational.” He hummed.
Cas scoffed at the idea, the sound a mix of amusement and disbelief. "I don't think you realize the irony of those words." He counted lightly picking a blueberry for himself and seeming to lose himself in his thoughts.
“I know you don’t believe me Cas.” Dean said softly. “But the way I’ve always seen it, I’ve got the best medical team in the Kingdom, I know I am clean of diseases, so if an Omega is in heat and I help, then they’re being safe. And as you can see, there isn’t dozens of little Dean’s running around the Kingdom, so Omegas clearly trust me not to take advantage.” Dean explained. “How many other Alphas can you say will do that?”
It took a moment for the Omega to realize the misunderstanding and gave a small chuckle. "Thats not what I meant, Cas." He mused lightly. "I understand all that. I meant the irony of who you're talking to." He explained before shaking his head, with another chuckle. "Never mind, don't worry about it. I told you I didn't want to use you Dean. I meant it."
Dean nodded. “I know you don’t. I’ve just never met an Omega before whose wanted to... top whilst in heat. I don’t know whether it’s because you were on suppressants?” He asked softly.
"Well, to be honest I hadn't planned on topping..." He admitted. "When I said I wanted to have my way with you, I still meant letting you top but when you mentioned it... I... Well I quite like the image of you lost in pleasure." He admitted, embarrassment ebbing from him. "I was /not/ disappointed."
Dean blushed and nuzzled into Cas’ neck. “I’ve always wondered what it felt like to have someone inside you. You were the only person I trusted to ask of that.” He cupped some water in his hands and gently poured it over Cas’ good shoulder. “Can I ask something of you though?” He asked softly.
"Of course, Dean." Cas offered as if the he were confused that the Alpha even bothered with asking.
“When I go into my rut... could I ask you for the same level of help as I’m giving you?” Dean asked softly, “if not, then I’ll find an Omega in heat, and share my rut with them.”
Jealousy suddenly flashed in Cas' scent before he could manage to reel it back in; though his expression was still soft as he offered another soft smile. "Of course, Dean. I would be happy to help. Besides, as far as we know we might be stuck together because of this whole thing with Azra'il anyways." He offered. "Going to another Omega could be... problematic."
“As you keep reminding me Cas, I am the Slut King.” Dean said with a small smile. “It will not be unthinkable for me to continue in that vein even after I settle down.” He said softly.
"Oh... Right." Cas mumbled, suddenly looking a bit disappointed, his scent overwhelmingly so. "My mistake." He offered.
“That doesn’t mean I will.” Dean said softly, wrapping his arms around Cas’s chest and kissing him softly. “If you don’t want me to, I won’t.”
Cas nodded along with the words though his scent was almost hurt... "No.. no... it's fine Dean... whatever youd like." He reassured.
“It’s fine though is it?” Dean asked softly. “I can smell that it’s not alright.” He splayed his fingers over Cas’ heart feeling it beet. “I what to stay monogamous, to you.”
"Dean..." cas sighed, sounding exasperated but smelling a bit hopeful. "I'm not asking for that. I'm not even asking for a relationship. I'm just your Royal Aide... you dont have to reassure me. Its fine. It's your life."
“I hear you Cas, I honestly do. But I can also smell you.” Dean said softly, “at the moment we have to pretend to be together, and as such, I’m going to stay monogamous to you.” He explained.
The hurt returned and Cas nodded. Right... they had to pretend... Cas was the one who had decided that... this was his doing. "Right. Yeah... sounds good." He reassured before shifting. "I think... I think I'm done now." He offered, moving to try and get out.
Dean nodded, “you’ve not had much breakfast.” He said softly, as he moved the bowl of fruit back onto the side. He held Cas’ hips as he helped him to stand and climb out of the water.
Cas waved him off as he collected s towel to dry off with. "Like I said. I'm not really that hungry." He reminded softly
“I know Cas, but it’s just that you’re in heat. You need to keep your energy up.” Dean said softly. He climbed out of the bath and dried himself off with a towel.
Cas sighed before collecting a pastry and biting into it to satisfy the other man. Already heading into the bedroom, not bothering to dress.
Dean sighed and grabbed their clothes and the tray of breakfast before following Cas into the bedroom. “Cas, you know I’m only trying to help.” He said softly.
“I know, Dean.” He reassured. “And I appreciate it.” He added, meaning every word. He was simply starting to become confused on where he stood with the Alpha… and where he /wanted/ to stand. It was all a bit overwhelming.
Dean hummed softly, he laid down in bed and held his arms open, “come here Cas. Tell me what’s on your mind.” He said softly. “I can see you’re thinking.”
Cas glanced at him, obviously hesitating a bit. “I rather not.” He admitted softly but moved to lay in his arms with a contented sigh. “There are certain things I will need to figure out on my own, unfortunately.”
Dean hummed, “well I’m here for when you need to speak.” He said softly. “I’ll always be here for you to vent to.” He linked their fingers under the blankets, holding Cas close. “Your brother is always happy to listen and talk with you.”
“I know, Dean.” He reassured, giving a yawn as he snuggled closer for warmth.
Dean smiled and held Cas close. “Go to sleep Cas. I’ll get up in a little bit and continue my work.” He said softly.
Cas nodded, closing his eyes as he got comfortable. “Thanks Dean…” He mumbled softly, breathing in his scent deeply.
Dean hummed and scented Cas softly. “Dream of something nice.” He whispered, kissing Cas’ cheek.
Cas hummed softly at the words already starting to drift off. “Sorry… I shouldn’t keep you from your work.” He slurred softly.
“But I want to be here rather than work. I prefer you.” Dean said softly, holding Cas closer.
“Mm… prefer you too.” Cas managed softly before he began to snore lightly .
Dean chuckled. He stayed were he was in bed, Cas in his arms, for about an hour. After an hour, he gently got up and dressed, going into his office, keeping the door open.
Cas shifted, mumbling under his breath as Dean moved, shifting to curl the blanket closer around them.
Dean kissed Cas’ head and scented him heavily before leaving to continue his work.
Cas seemed to relax as Dean rubbed his scent on the man. The action would no doubt allow Cas a few more hours of sleep.
Dean worked on his appointing of new Aides as he kept one eye on Cas, smelling his scent occasionally to make sure he was happy.
Cas seemed perfectly content for the most part with the occasional spike of this or that.
Dean sighed and went into the bedroom after a long while, sitting on the bed. “Cas,” he cooed softly. “Cas, love, how are you feeling?”
Cas hummed, brows furrowing before cracking his eyes open. “Dean?” He mumbled softly. “Warm.” He admitted, his fever having spiked while he slept. .
Dean frowned and gently pulled the blankets off Cas. “It’s okay. Why don’t you sit up, and we can have a drink of water?” He offered as he poured a glass of water out for Cas.
Cas didnt protest, shifting to sit up silently and starting to shiver a bit as the cool air hit him. He accepted the glass, taking a small silver before offering it back.
Dean sighed. “Cas... I...” he bit his lip and started again. “Are you okay? You’re not eating or drinking, you’re shivering in a room that isn’t that cold. Should we bring in Gabriel to give you a check over?” He asked softly.
Cas shook his head, the action measured as to not make him dizzy. “I’m sure I’m fine Dean…” He offered though the words were still a bit slurred. “I’m sure its just the heat… No reason to worr…” He paused, almost falling over. “Worry him.” He managed as he caught himself.
Dean frowned and held Cas close. “Come here. I know you want to always be strong, but sometimes you have to let people help.” He said softly. He kissed Cas’ cheek softly. “Let me go fetch Gabriel. He wants to help and so do I.”
“Its not about help…” Cas protested, trying to worm his way out of Dean’s arms, but was far to weak to manage it. “Don’t want to worry him…” He huffed giving up. “Just tired.” He repeated, nuzzling closer to obviously try and get some more sleep.
Dean sighed, and pulled away slightly so Cas couldn’t get comfortable. “I need you to stay awake, baby. Just until Gabriel comes and speaks with you.” He said softly, climbing out of bed and going to the guards outside to go fetch Gabriel.
Cas nodded before Dean pulled away and he curled up on the bed already starting to fall asleep once more.
Dean sat back down on the edge of the bed. “Come on Cas. Stay awake for me please. It’s not like you to be this sleepy. Where are those drills you were going to get me doing?” He asked.
"In the morning Gabriel. Drills are in the morning." He huffed, pulling thr pillows over his face.
“Come on Cassie.” Dean said softly. “Look at me, do you know who I am?” Dean asked as he tugged on the pillow lightly.
Cas grunted before tugging the pillow back and rolling up tighten in the blankets.
Dean sighed and kissed his temple. A moment later, there was a knock at the door. Dean went to answer it and allowed Gabriel inside. “He’s getting worse.” He whispered as he allowed Gabriel in. “He’s just called me your name. He’s been asleep most of the day, only awake for a bathe. I can’t get him to eat or drink anything.” Dean whispered, chewing his bottom lip softly.
Gabriel brushed past him with barely a word, hurrying to his brother’s side. “It could just be exhaustion.” He reassured before sinking down onto the bed. He pulled the pillow back, earning a growl from the Omega but took no mind. He placed a hand on his forehead and frowned. “He’s burning up… A lot worse than if it were just his heat.” He mumbled before tugging down the blankets to look at the wound on his shoulder. “The infection is getting worse.” He commented with a huff.
“I’ve been cleaning it regularly. We’ve bathed it this morning.” Dean frowned. “Is there anything you want me to do?” He asked. “Do you want me to run him a bath?” He offered.
“Sometimes no matter how much we do it gets worse, Dean. Its not your fault.” He reassured. “You said you have doctors?” He asked. “You should probably call for them.”
Dean nodded and rested a hand on Gabriel’s shoulder. He went to his guards and ordered for them to bring the Royal Omega Doctor immediately. “He will be okay though, won’t he?” Dean asked softly.
“I’d tell you he’d be fine but we both know I’d be lying.” Gabriel sighed, wrapping his brother up a bit tighter. “Honestly… I don’t know. Infections can be tricky. I’ve done all I know how to do. It usually works… I’ve been tending to Cas almost his whole life… This isn’t the worse he’s ever gotten.” He mumbled, obviously rambling with worry. “But… We both know he’s a fighter. I doubt this does him in.”
Dean nodded, his hand on Gabriel’s shoulder. “Before he curled up like this... he told me not to get you.” He said softly. “He said that I shouldn’t make you worry. Even when he’s ill and delirious, he’s caring for you Gabriel. I’ve never seen anyone care for someone as much as he cares for you.” He whispered.
Gabriels scent spiked with annoyance. “Of course he did.” He grumbled before pushing to his feet. “The man’s a moron.” He huffed moving to dampen a rag and returning to place it on his forehead. “Always has been.”
“He loves you Gabriel. You’re his everything.” Dean said softly. “Don’t be annoyed at him, he’s just trying to protect you.” He said gently.
Gabriel shoot the Alpha a glare. “See! Thats the problem! Thats what he ALWAYS does! He tries to protect /me/, He tries to protect the /Kingdom/ and he tries to protect /you/! Thats what got him in this position in the first place! He took a fucking arrow trying to protect someone! I guarantee he didn’t even see you as King in that moment… He would have done the same for anyone… even some street urchin he didn’t know from John.” He scoffed. “He’s an idiot, trying to save the world and is going to kill himself in the process.”
Dean frowned, that wasn’t the reaction he expected from the Omega. “That’s why he has you. To patch him up. And that’s what I want to do. I want to protect him. I want to protect everyone is this Kingdom, and I need someone as wise as Cas to help me. Not fighting on the front lines but working out strategy and how to win and when to push.” Dean said softly.
Gabriel shook his head, pushing to his feet in aggrivation and starting to pace as they waited for the Doctor. “That’s just it isn’t it?! I’m always there to patch him up and he always gets hurt worse the next time! I’m not going to be here forever, and he doesn’t stop to think about that, does he? Or the fact that one day I’ll have to watch him die from his own stupidity! Sure, he’s selfless.” Gabriel shrugged. “But that also makes the moron more selfish then you could possibly realize. And I’m.. what?... Suppose to just accept that?” He growled, wrapping his arms around himself.
Dean frowned and poured a fresh glass of water for Gabriel. “Drink this Gabriel. And then go grab something to eat, get some fresh air. He won’t die on us, he won’t die on you. He’ll always be around to moronically protect us all.”
Gabriel paused, staring at the glass of water as if it were going to jump at him before he relaxed a small huff of amusement, escaping him. “I’d rather stay.” He mumbled, pushing away the offered glass gently. “Thanks though… Not really use to having someone with me when he does this crap.” He admitted. “He might not die this time… but what about next?” He sighed, sinking down into one of the chairs.
“I know Gabriel. But he’s got a 100% running rate of pulling through. He won’t die just to spite everyone around him and God himself.” Dean chuckled.
There was a knock at the door and Dean opened it, dagger in had. “Come on in Doctor Shepard, it’s great for you to come so quickly.”
“Of course, Your Majesty.” The Doctor replied with a shallow bow before moving towards Cas. “I assume this is the Omega in question?” He asked already setting his bag down next to the bed. Gabriel didn’t give Dean a chance to answer as he moved to the opposite side of the bed.
“Yes.” He rushed. “He has a number of lacerations but the wound in his shoulder is the worse. It became infected about 48 hours ago. We’ve been applying anti inflammatory salve on a regular basis but its persistent.”
The doctor eyed the elder brother evenly, obviously not really accepting his words as he pulled the blankets down to reveal the angry red wound. “And you tried to sweat out the fever?” He asked, though it was more of a statement, making Gabriel just give a nod as the Doctor began his own examination.
“He’s been asleep for most of the day.” Dean explained, “he’s not really drank anything, nor has he eaten much. He should be in the middle of his heat, but no wave has come today.” He added, “you can trust Gabriel’s assessment of Aide Novak’s injuries, he tended to Novak before.”
“Ah… So, this is the ex-Knight Commander and you must be his brother.” The Doctor nodded but said no more on the subject. “The heat is most likely being suppressed by the infection’s fever.” He advised. “There will no doubt be a wave coming.” He reassured, inspecting the rest of the man’s body before pulling the blanket around him once more. “Though it might be best to keep his movements to a minimum. He needs rest, a lot of it. He also needs water, He will most likely protest but if you can get him to drink it will help. As for food… For now, broth will be your best option. I can send some herbs to kitchen.” He paused. “From what I’ve heard, you are currently assigned there?” The Doctor asked Gabriel who simply nodded. “I can show you how to prepare them. The tea will be bitter but it will help. Add it to his broth as well. It won’t be the very palatable but it is necessary.” He reassured before glancing at Dean. “The infection has had time to settle. His fever should get worse before it gets better. I would warn against bedding in general if he weren’t already in heat. At this point it might do more damage than good. Just keep… activities as gentle as possible while satisfying his impulses.” He advised. “The high temperature can cause delusional tendencies, I advise you to go along with them, to avoid any unnecessary stress on the Omega. I’m afraid, beyond that and attempting to keep him hydrated, there is not much more I can do, Your Majesty.” He admitted.
Dean nodded. “That’s fine. Can you do a general checkup on him as well whilst you’re here. I’m sure you know he’s been on suppressants, we don’t want him to have any detrimental side effects especially whilst he’s got an infection and in heat.” Dean explained.
“Of course, Your Grace.” Shepard nodded, turning back to the Omega. His hands went to the man’s neck, pressing here and there before moving lower, pressing at his abdomen carefully, avoiding his wounds. He opened the man’s mouth, before checking his eyes. It was a few moments before he spoke again. “Well, I will admit, there are a few worrisome areas.” He sighed. “He seems to have damaged a few of his reproduction organs, though I can’t be sure how much or if they are simply under developed until I can get him to my office.” He admitted. “It could be nothing but it is something to be aware of. He also has some older scars that I would like to ask about.” He added. “Other than that he is as healthy as an Omega… More so even… Though thats probably due to living a soldier’s life.” He shrugged as he stood. “When he’s feeling better, and after his heat has subsided, perhaps you could convince him to pay me a visit?” He asked the King.
Dean nodded. “We’ll try our best. Even if I have to carry him.” He chuckled softly. “As for the scars, Gabriel is the best person to speak to about those.”
Shepard nodded as he glanced at the elder Novak. “Very well.” He acknowledged. “Would you mind walking with me, Novak?” He asked motioning for the door. “We can discussing a few things before I show you how to prep the herbs.” He offered earning an eager nod from Gabriel who pushed to his feet and hurried after him.
Dean smiled softly as he watched Gabriel go with Doctor Shepard. He sighed as he sat beside Cas on the bed and stroked his hair softly. “I love you.”
Cas leaned into the touch with a soft hum, obviously breathing in the man’s scent deeply and visibly relaxing.
Dean scented Cas softly. “I’m so sorry. You shouldn’t have taken the arrow for me.”
The Omega gave no indication that he heard the words, though he reacted to the scenting by curling towards the Alpha, and giving something akin to both a whine and a sigh; obviously taking comfort in the action.
“It’s okay, Cas. We’ll both be okay, I promise.” Dean said softly. “You’re so brave.”
There was no response as Cas continued to sleep in his fevered state, pressing a far too warm cheek against the other man’s arm.
Dean sighed and stroked Cas’ hair softly.
It was only about an hour before Gabriel returned with a small pot of tea. He helped Dean coax the sleeping man to drink a small cup before giving a small break and attempting again. When the Omega had finished off about two cups Gabriel left him to sleep, urging Dean to get some work done.
It wasn’t until just before lunch that Cas began to stir, sitting up slowly and glancing about the room. “Dean?” He mumbled softly, obviously still groggy.
Dean was in his office, his door open to listen for and see Cas. He continued to work, waiting to hear Cas call him or to see him coming out of the room.
When the Alpha didn’t suddenly appear Cas moved to swing his legs over the side of the bed and attempted to stand. He wavered a moment before falling back onto the edge of the bed. He gave a frustrated huff before trying again, this time managing it and taking a few shaky steps towards the office, where he assumed the Alpha was.
Dean saw Cas moving slowly and shot up. “You should be in bed Cas.” He frowned, wrapping an arm around his waist and taking most of the Omega’s weight. “Let’s get you back in there, and we can talk about what you want.” He offered.
For once, the Omega didn’t protest as he was pulled into the man’s arms for support. “M’fine.” He reassured though he leaned heavily on the Alpha, scenting /him/ this time. “Missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Dean chuckled. “Stop scenting me Cas. I don’t need it and you need your energy more.” He said softly. “We’re got some of that delicious tea I know you love.”
.
Cas gave a small grunt in response, but didn’t comply. He did pause, however, glancing about the room for a moment. “Did… Did I hear Gabriel here earlier?” He mumbled curiously.
“Hmm.” Cas responded as if considering the words before immediately dismissing them. “Come to bed, Dean.” He practically purred, tugging at him weakly, towards the large four poster. “Its cold without you.”
Dean chuckled. “You’ve been burning up for the last few days. We can get you warm when you have a drink.” He said softly, picking up the cup of tea and holding it out to Cas.
Cas stared out it with an annoyed huff before pressing closer so that he was still leaning against the Alpha, accepting the cup and giving a small sip before his features turned to disgust. “Ugh… Thats really really bad.”
“I know Cas. But it will make your infection go away.” Dean said softly. “If you drink up, I’ll make you nice and happy.”
The Omega only hesitated briefly before giving a sly smile and leaned in close to press a small kiss to Dean’s lips. “Promise, Alpha?” He purred softly.
“I promise, cheeky. Now drink up, before I revoke my promise.” Dean winked, as he held Cas close. He kissed Cas’s hair and murmured into it, “I love you.”
Cas had spent enough time with his men to know how to down something as disgusting as the tea… though it tended to be liquor and not herbs. So, he lifted the small cup to his lips and tossed it back, downing the liquid in just a few gulps before handing back the empty cup and giving a small cough. “That… was disgusting.” He huffed with displeasure.
“I know.” Dean hummed. “I had to have a sip the other day to get you to drink it. Now lay in bed, and let me make you feel good.”
“You did?” Cas asked, brows furrowing, obviously confused. The sensation was forgotten, however, as Dean lead him towards the bed earning a pleased hum as Cas pressed closer instead of doing as he was told; the current wave of his heat obviously about to set in.
“Lay down Cas. You need to not move, it will hurt your infection more if you move.” Dean said softly. He kissed Cas softly, pushing him into the pillow.
Cas allowed himself to be coaxed downwards as he returned the kiss a bit hungrily.
Dean pulled away and placed a finger on Cas’ lips. “Tell me what you want me to do.” He whispered.
The Omega’s breathing was already becoming a bit uneven with the Alpha so close to him. “Everything… Anything… Please, Alpha.” He pleaded.
“Cas,” Dean said softly. “I’m going to go slow and gentle and pull of love.” He explained, “I want you to feel good.”
Cas gave a frustrated huff as he lifted his hips to press against the Alpha. “I will feel good, Dean… I just need my Alpha.” He argued headily, using the possessive endearment for the first time.
“Your Alpha, huh?” Dean asked as he slowly undressed them both, pressing his bare skin against Cas’ bare skin, being careful of his wounds. “You think I belong to you?”
Embarrassment flooded the Omega’s scent, obviously worrying him as he moved to sit up. “Oh, No! I didn’t mean to imply…. I… Its just… You’re a King… You belong to no one… I…” He rushed, obviously panicking a bit.
“But I want to be yours.” Dean growled softly. “Let me show you how much I want it.” He growled as he rolled his bare hips against Cas’ thigh.
Cas cut himself off immediately at the man’s words; the flush of embarrassment still mixing with his fevered tone. The feel of Dean’s cock press against his thigh had the Omega unable to refrain from the small shiver that ran the length of his spine. “D-Dean…” He breathed almost in a moan as he leaned forward to kiss the man once more.
“Can I be your Alpha?” Dean asked. He shuffled his hips to one side and rolled his hips against the Omega’s cock. “I want to wake up with you in my arms everyday. I want to fall asleep with you by my side. I want to go out in public arm in arm.” He whispered.
“Ah…” Cas gasped arching into the touch in turn. He bit his bottom lip to try to refrain from moaning to no avail. “D-Dean please…. Just… I need you.” He groaned softly. He could already feel the sheets beneath him dampening once more as he sank back onto the desperate and needy.
Dean hummed and brought the blankets up around his shoulders before nuzzling his cock against Cas’ wet hole. “I love you.”
Cas shifted so that his legs fell open a bit wider, lifting his hips to rub against the Alpha’s cock in return, teasing it. He wrapped his good arm around the other man’s shoulders dragging him into another desperate kiss.
Dean kissed Cas back and gently pushed into him, immediately started to slowly rock his hips. “
Cas gasped as he was stretched lifting his back from the mattress with a relieved moan as his need subsided a bit. "Yes, Alpha! My Alpha!" He groaned nails digging into Dean's back as he arched. "More..." he encouraged softly.
Dean groaned and pushed down on Cas’ hips before settling into long, slow thrusts. “You’re so beautiful.”
He gave a small whine as he was pressed back into the mattress, obviously wanting to move. Still, he didnt fight Dean's hold as the Alpha kept his pace. Cas' breathing was still a low pant quickening slowly as he allowed his hands to slide against Dean's body, over his shoulders and across his chest affectionately. "So good Dean... please..." He gasped softly, legs locking around his waist.
Dean smiled and kissed Cas softly. “Just relax. I’ve got you.” He promised as he sped up slowly.
"Ah... ah..." Cas gasped softly as Dean began to pick up the pace, the new position allowing him to hit his prostate easily. "Oh, fuck Dean! Yes Alpha! My Alpha!"
Dean hummed as he aimed for Cas’ prostate. “Good boy, Omega. That’s it. You can come.”
Cas was practically a moaning whining mess as Dean continued his rhythmic thrusts. The Omega lifted his hands to cup his Alphas face as he kissed him again, this time a bit more slowly, far more affectionate than before.... He was so close. "Love you too Alpha..." He offered against the Mans lips. "Never felt like this..." He gasped softly as he grew closer to his climax.
“I love you too Omega.” Dean said softly. “I’ll make you feel this good all the time.” He promised. He thrusted hard into Cas, aiming straight for his prostate.
Cas' whole body shook at the final thrust, cumming hard between them as he clung to the other man desperately crying out his name as wave after wave of pleasure washed through him.
Dean moaned as Cas’ came between them. He pulled out quickly and came over the Omega, adding his own cries to Cas’. He laid down beside Cas, wrapping his arms around him tightly.
Cas allowed himself to be pulled into the embrace as he tried to catch his breath, burying his face in the other mans chest. Embarrassment and fear filling his scent as hs realized what he had said to the Alpha.
Dean hummed and kissed Cas’ hair softly. “What you said, do you want me to forget about it?” He asked softly. “I can pretend you never said it if you’d prefer.”
For a moment it seemed as if Cas wouldnt reply but slowly, as he seemed to relax a bit into Dean's hold he sighed. "No." He mumbled softly. He had meant the words... He simply didnt want to admit them.
“Really?” Dean asked softly, he tilted Cas’ chin up and kissed him slowly. “I love you.” He whispered.
Cas flushed, the embarrassment intensifying. "I love you too." He grumble softly, glancing away.
Dean chuckled and kissed his hair again. “Is this just you’re heat speaking?” He asked softly.
Cas tensed at the question, fear spiking. "I..." He began to argue before hesitating. "I dont know." He answered honestly. "I dont think so." He admitted his gaze glued to where his hands were pressed against Dean's chest.
“Cas it’s okay.” Dean said gently. “I just want to know where we both stand.” He explained, stroking Cas’ hair.
"I know, Dean." He reassured. "But I'm not sure if it's the heat. I dont think it is, but I've never had a heat like this." He explained, still not looking him in the eye.
Dean slowly linked their fingers together, over his chest. “I can wait. I can wait for you to think it through.” He said softly. “I don’t want to rush you.”
Cas seemed to relax even more at the words pressing closer once more. "Thank you." He whispered softly, snuggling close.
Dean smiled softly and held Cas close. “We should tell Gabriel you’re awake. He’ll want to speak with you.” He said softly.
Cas gave a small hum at that. "Can it wait?" He mumbled softly. "If I've been out as long as you say I rather not listen to the lecture he will no doubt have prepared."
“Of course. I think I got the most of it.” Dean smiled. “Do you need anything? Food? A nicer drink?”
"A nicer drink would be appreciated but it can wait. I'm good with just laying here with you." He offered.
Dean smiled softly, “I like laying here with you too.” He drew soft circles into Cas’ shoulder blades. “How does your shoulder feel?”
Cas moved it a bit as if testing it. "Still hurts a little but not as much as it was." He admitted. The would was still red and obviously infected but not quite as angry as when Cas' fever had started.
Dean nodded and held Cas close. “I’ll change your bandages in a bit, when you’re feeling a bit warmer.”
Cas gave a small snort of amusement at the words. "I was never really cold." He admitted softly. "I just wanted you."
Dean hummed softly. “You’re fever was through the roof. Even when I was beside you.” He said softly. “Shall I change your bandages and then you can go back to sleep if you wish?”
Cas' brows furrowed at the words, obviously becoming a bit distressed. "I didnt mean to worry anyone. I'm sure it would have gone away on it's own. " He reassured softly.
“Hey, we care about you Cas. You had an infection, even if it was a little infection we would have worried because we care.” Dean said softly, scenting the Omega softly.
Cas hummed in Approval as Dean scented him. "Doesnt mean I have to like it." He countered, pushing closer. "Though there are a few thing I can think of that I /would/ like." He teased lightly.
Dean smirked and kissed Cas softly. “What /would/ you like?” He asked, rubbing Cas’ shoulder softly.
"I want you to fuck me until I have trouble standing, then carry me to the bath and bathe with me." He admitted with a sly grin. It seemed that just the short time the two had spent together had caused him to come out of his shell a bit. In fact, the shy embarrassed Omega that reluctantly shared his heat was no where to be seen at the moment.
“Is that true?” Dean asked, walking his fingers up Cas’ chest. “Where is the Omega who didn’t want to share his heat, because he thought he could handle it?”
Cas shot him an even look before seeming to pout. At least as close to a pout as he could manage. "Are you denying your Omega, Alpha? While hes in heat? How could you be so cruel?"
“I’m never going to deny you, Cas.” Dean smiled. “I just want to know where my shy, reserved Omega who doesn’t like me got to.”
Cas arched a brow at that. "Would you prefer I go back to hating you?" He teased lightly.
“Do I want someone I love you hate me? Hm let me get back to you on that.” Dean smiled as he kissed Cas softly.
Cas hummed into the kiss, nipping at the Alpha's bottom lip playfully. "I think you get off on it. Why else would you have wanted me so badly?" He countered, hands moving down the other mans chest
“Because you’re beautiful, and sexy, and so so clever.” Dean smiled as he cupped Cas’ cheek, his thumb rubbing softly over his cheekbone.
"No I'm pretty sure it's the hatred thing." He countered, voice dripping with amusement.
“Of course, that’s my mistake.” Dean chuckled.
Cas pressed closer to the Alpha. "So...?" He asked softly. "Sex, bath, bandage?" He asked. "Or are you going to make me beg? Just a heads up... I don't beg..." He paused before shrugging. "Often."
Dean hummed. “You’ve begged plenty of times to me.” He smirked rolling them both over, so Cas was on his back and Dean was on top.
Cas gave a small grunt as they shifted positions, moving beneath him a bit so that his shoulder didnt ache too terribly. "Play your cards right and I might again."
Dean laughed and kissed Cas passionately, pinning his uninjured arm above his head.
Cas arched into the touch, rubbing his already hardening length against the Alpha. He returned the kiss without hesitation, humming at the familiar and comforting taste of his lips.
Dean hummed into the kiss his free hand coming up to cup Cas’ cheek. He gently tilted Cas’ chin up, biting at his neck softly.
A soft studdering sigh escaped the Omega at the feel of Dean’s mouth on him, causing goosebumps to drift across his skin. ‘Dean…” He whined softly, rutting against him again.
“Is that a beg?” He asked. Dean wrapped his lips around Cas’ good collar bone and sucked it softly.
Cas began to chuckle, the sound cutting off as Dean began to suck a mark into his skin, turning it into a moan. "N-not a chance." He managed breathlessly.
Dean smirked and bit gently, leaving a bruise on his collar bone. “I will get you to beg.0
“Mm… Is that so?” Cas mused with a hum, allowing his hands to slide lower until the were curling around Dean’s length. “And if you beg first?”
Dean hummed, he went down Cas’ body, licking and nipping at the Omega’s nipple.
]
Cas gave another small hum, shifting beneath the Alpha's large body. "Is that all you've got, Alpha? I thought you knew how to please an Omega."
“Baby, I’ve only just got started.” Dean hummed as he moved down Cas’ body, kissing and licking his skin. As he got to Cas’ naval he stopped and pushed his tongue into it, moaning loudly.
The shiver that raked over Cas' body was strong enough to leave him gasp at the strange sensation. He would have argued that it wasnt exactly pleasant but the slick that suddenly began to pool beneath him would have called him on the fib. Then again it was probably more due to the sound of his Alpha's moans than the actual feel of his mouth.
Dean smiled as he moved lower biting the soft skin just beneath his naval. “Is someone wanting me?” He asked.
"As if you didnt know." Cas scoffed. "Of course I want you but I'm not begging... yet." He countered with amusement.
Dean chuckled. “I won’t let you come until you do beg.” He smirked, going lower and running his tongue and nose down the Omega’s shaft.
“Mm… Is that a promise or a threat?” Cas teased lightly, a hand moving to tangle in the Alpha’s hair.
“It depends when you start to beg, little Omega.” Dean teased. He moved down lower, biting and sucking a large hicky into Cas’ inner thigh.
A whine escaped him before he could catch himself, lifting his hips a bit at the pleasure-pain. “Another.” He demanded a bit breathlessly one Dean pulled away.
Dean turned to the other leg, biting and sucking a larger hickey onto his inner thigh. “Was that a beg?”
His whine turned into a moan as he sucked another mark on him. There was something about the action that had Cas aching inside and out for his Alpha. “No…” He managed a bit breathlessly. “An order.” He offered playfully.
Dean smiled as he continued to mark his Omega. “No one else will touch you when they know you’re claimed like this.” He almost growled at the thought. “Everyone will know you’re mine.”
"Is that so, Alpha?" Cas purred, trying to hide the effect the sound of Dean's protective growl had on him. "You want me to be yours? Want the world to know I belong to you?"
Dean growled, “you’re mine, Omega. The entire world will know, you’re my Queen.” He tilted his head up and took Cas’ balls into his mouth.
Cas jerked slightly at the sudden sensation. Whatever retort he had in mind was suddenly forgotten... though he doubted it would be wise to anger the other man in their current position.
Dean moaned and rolled Cas’ balls around in his mouth, rubbing his tongue all over them.
The Omega's breathing became shallow and uneven as Dean Teased him. "Dean... it's not going to work." He managed in a breathless whine, losing the meaning of the words.
Dean hummed and pulled off Cas’ balls with a pop, letting them go cold in the air. “No, then what’s that whine?” He asked.
"F-fuck you." He stuttered unconvincingly, shifting his hips slightly as the cool air hit his damp skin.
Dean hummed, “do you /want/ me to fuck you?” He asked. “Nice and slow? You know what you have to do to get me to do that.”
"I could refuse you too, you know." He grumbled though he was obviously needy. "You wouldnt dare leave me in my heat..."
“Are you prepared to bet on that?” Dean asked, as he stood up out of bed to show Cas that he meant what he had said.
Cas offered an amused smile a hand sliding down his own chest to stroke himself slowly. "I'd say so."
Dean hummed and began to dress, hiding his erect from Cas’ movements. “All you have to do is beg, my Omega.”
"I'll pass." He huffed moved onto his stomach and brought his knees up so that he was presenting to the Alpha. He didnt hesitate to reach between his legs however, and rub against his hole with a soft moaning gasp for the Alpha's benefit.
Dean hummed. “When you are ready to change your mind, I shall be in my office, working.” He smiled before kissing Cas’ forehead and heading into the office.
"Cant handle it? Coward." Cas accused playfully as He rutted against the sheets. "Cant even please his Omega properly."
Dean laughed out loud. “Do you want me to please you Cas? Because at the moment, you seem adamant not to like it.” He replied as he leaned in the doorway of the office. “Do you want me to please you?”
“I’m adamant not to beg, Alpha.” Cas corrected, shifting again to face him. “No… I want you to stay and watch me please myself until you can’t handle it anymore… Unless you feel like you’re not up for the challenge?”
King Dean hummed as he listened to Castiel’s speech. “That is all very well, Commander. But I do wish to ask, one more question, it may sound... a rather odd question, but I have my reasons. When you presented, what did you present as?” Dean asked, the last comment about replacing Castiel only made him more certain that Castiel was hiding something, something large that could end his career.
This was it, the moment Cas had dreaded his entire life. He refused to feel shame however, standing tall, shoulders back, head high as he pursed his lips at the question. Castiel prided himself in his honesty, it set him apart from everyone else. He would survive this. He would manage... even if he no longer had a title. "I presented as an Omega, Your Majesty." He stated simply. The young King was far more intuitive than his father had been that was for certain... In away it made Cas proud to see, despite the cold resolve that now filled the Knight Commander.
Dean nodded. “I thought as much. This... avoidance cannot go unpunished. But I hope to become a fair, just King. So I’ll give you a choice. Surely, there are people here that know your truth. You can either keep your job, yet throw those people in jail. Or you cease this job and your way of hiding the truth, and...” Dean paused as he looked the Omega up and down. “And you become Queen.” He finished simply.
"Of Coarse, Your Grace, I shall begin preparations for my successor imm-" He rushed before the realization of the King's words struck him. He staggered a bit at the shock that washed over him. He was reeling. He couldnt be serious... This had to be a joke. Cas never did have a very good sense of humor... He just never understood that side of people, it was beyond him. "Forgive my ignorance, Your Majesty..." He began hesitantly, trying to gauge if the man was serious. " But I do not understand."
“As I’m sure you’re aware, I don’t have a Queen. Nor am I courting. One reason is because I have not found anyone suitable to help me rule, as the Queen should. With your... astute awareness, you would do well.” King Dean hummed. “It’s either that, or throw all your family and friends in jail.”
“No. No, please, Your Grace.” Cas rushed at the mention of throwing his loved ones in a cage. “I will do as you wish, of course.” He added with another low bow, he didn’t straighten however, already worried about overstepping himself as an Omega… Which was something he hadn’t fretted about in quite a long time. “I simply worry that it may be…” He paused as he tried to find the words. “Inappropriate for a King as gracious and renown as you to take a commoner as his Queen.” He pointed out. The simple idea of marriage did not sit well in the Knight Command- No… He was no longer Knight Commander… He needed to stop addressing himself as such. Regardless of what happened next Cas would be stripped of his previous title. “Surely there is someone much more suitable for such a wise and brave King.” He knew he was going a bit overboard with the compliments… perhaps even gravitating towards groveling but… Queen?! That was no small title. .
“A wise and brave King needs a Queen equal to him, or their relationship and the Kingdom will fall to ruins. You may be brash but you are wise. And I cannot think of an Omega who is as brave as you.” King Dean hummed. “And you are but a commoner. You were a commander.” He placed two fingers under Castiel’s chin and tilted his head up. He leaned down slowly, and pressed his lips to the Omega’s own.
Cas listened to the words, clinging to each one of them. Was that really what Dean thought of him? He didn’t really consider himself in such away and yet, for once the words didn’t feel false. The Omega just barely managed to keep from flinching as the King reached out to guide his chin upwards, forcing his blue gaze to meet the emeralds before him. This man… An Alpha… Ruler of an entire kingdom saw Castiel Novak, a commoner who had to fight tooth and nail to gain what little respect he had, as an equal? His mind was still reeling as Dean moved closer his scent flooding Cas’ senses as he pressed his lips to his. It was a fairly chaste show of affection and yet… the first the Omega had received in a very very long time. The flood of emotion that accompanied it had him feeling dizzy with something akin to motion sickness. He was so taken aback by the action, however, that he didn’t respond… just stared at the Alpha in shock and awe.
Dean pulled back and frowned. “Too soon?” He asked, as he stepped back. “Tomorrow morning, I wish for a report to be placed in my office, detailing who you believe is the best to succeed you. Stop taking whatever medicine you use to disguise your scent, it’s not very becoming of an Omega Queen.” Dean hummed and turned. “That is unless you wish to join me in retiring for bed.” He smirked and winked at Castiel.
The flush that washed over Castiel’s skin was dark enough to appear burned at the words. “That would be quite inappropriate, Your Majesty.” He mumbled softly as he straightened, tugging at the tunic beneath his thin armor. “I will make the necessary preparations before morning.” He nodded, clearing his throat awkwardly. “If I may, Sire… I would like to inform the men, if it is all the same to you?” He requested almost nervously. “I fear they would not take it well from anyone else. I have lived among them for long enough that their doubt would most certainly cause some trouble.”
Dean thought for a moment. “I will go with you to inform them. Alphas can be... emotional when it comes to Omegas lying to them. I do not wish to see my Queen be injured.” He stated. “But pray tell, why do you believe it is inappropriate for an Alpha to lay with his Omega?”
“Of course, Your Majesty. Whatever you wish.” Castiel agreed, though he wasn’t too fond of the idea. The fact that Dean was already becoming protective over him was a bit… unsettling. “It has very little to do with an Alpha and Omega laying together, Sire.” He explained awkwardly. “Ignoring the age difference, and the fact that I am a commoner, and meaning no disrespect, I don’t make it a habit of laying with any Alpha who asks me to bed.” Not that any had in over a decade. “Nor would I wish to imply that your…” He took a moment to force the words out. “Future Queen would be so dishonorable to do just that.”
“There is no dishonour in sleeping with someone, Castiel.” Dean stated. “But as you so wish. Just that the report on my desk by morning.” He turned and headed back to the castle. “I would also like you to suggest what... entourage you would like to have, once you have finished in the post.” He called over his shoulder before walking over the brow of a hill and back into the Kingdom.
Castiel watched him go, giving a small nod at the command before the King disappeared from sight. The moment he was alone, the breath the Omega hadn’t realized he was holding, left him and he practically collapsed onto the soft grass. What the hell just happened?! He scrubbed a hand through his messy locks as he tried to process it all. He had known losing his command had been a possibility but… becoming Queen?! Dean Winchester was utterly insane! A mad man!!! Christ, what was he going to do?! Cas wasn’t made out to rule… not like that. Soldiers were one thing but a kingdom? As an Omega?! Who would listen to him? Not to mention the backlash that would result in his men discovering the truth. How is it just hours ago he was at peace with the idea of stepping down and now… face with the prospect of stepping /up/ was terrifying? He remained there for a while, unsure of how much time had passed, trying to gather himself, to steel himself against the world.
Marriage… Something he had never considered… Now forced into his hands. That was the power of a Monarch he supposed. Threaten to toss everyone he cared for in prison if Cas didn’t marry him… It seemed as if Dean took after his father more than the staff that worked close to him believed. How could anyone be that cruel? And yet… Cas’ hand lifted to brush his fingers against his lips. He didn’t think that was everything to the man. No… there had to be more. Dean was known to bed his fair share of Omegas through the years, everyone knew that and his rise to power probably wouldn’t change that. Could Cas handle that knowledge as his Queen? Well… He supposed that it didn’t really matter… The marriage would be for the Kingdom’s benefit not for an emotional connection. Who was he to turn down his duty? That’s exactly what it was, wasn’t it? His duty? He had taken an oath as Knight Commander to serve and protect the throne and do what was best for the Kingdom… As Queen he could do more than he ever could as Commander…
The thought seemed to settle much of his worries and he pushed to his feet. He had a lot to do before morning.
The next morning, King Dean woke early, his bed empty. He sighed, he didn’t know the last time he had fallen asleep by himself, but he had Castiel to think about. It wouldn’t do the Omega’s trust much good for his Alpha to be sleeping with anyone he chooses. He gets washed and dressed. Dressing in his finest formalwear, trying to look as handsome as possible. He even tamed his hair. He moved into his office, where his breakfast and a new stack of paperwork, almost up to his shoulders was waiting for him. He took a deep sigh as he grabbed a slice of toast and the first documents to read through.
Cas didn’t bother to sleep more than maybe an hour or two before washing and dressing. He didn’t bother trying to tame his messy dark locks. For a moment however he paused to stare at his usual uniform and armor, suddenly feeling a bit naked despite his layers of formal ware. How long had it been since he had been in public without the thin layer of metal? It didn’t really matter, he supposed. He gave a heavy sigh, pulling on his cloak and taking a glance in the mirror. He looked tired and a bit worn down but otherwise he supposed he was… passable for a noble… He still didn’t understand what the King was thinking but he supposed it was best to just accept it without question. He moved to collect his reports and headed out to meet the man in question, ignoring the strange look he received from his men at the change of attire.
Dean stayed in his office, working slowly through his paperwork. He didn’t check the time, concentrating on the piles of paper in front of him. Even though his hair was neat to start with, it slowly returned to its usual ruffled-self, as he ran his fingers through it. All through his paperwork, Dean’s mind constantly returned to Castiel. How would he react, now he had time to digest his proposal? He wondered if he had come across to forceful, he would have to rectify it once Castiel comes with even more paperwork.
The guards inside the palace allowed the Knight Commander to pass without nothing more than a respectful nod, or a slight bow while the servants seemed to hurry out of his way bowing and scraping as they always did. He really did hate that. He came from the same background as them. He gave an audible huff, ignoring them the best he could. He needed to get use to it if he were to become Queen. Still by the time that he managed to reach the Man in Waiting he was already in a foul mood, shooting the younger man a glare as he announced the King was expecting him. The beta nodded, rushing into the large office to announce the Knight Commander properly.
Dean waved his hand to dismiss the guard, not looking up from his paperwork, as he read the fine print of a subsection of a clause in a by-law. He held his finger up, as he asked for Castiel’s patience, and pointed to the plush seat opposite the desk. He hummed as he grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled a note on it, before pushing it all to one side and leaning back in his chair, rubbing his eyes. “I hate Wednesdays. They’re always the busiest day of the week.” He sighed as he finally looked up at Castiel. “How was your night, anyway?” He asked, noting the bags under the Omega’s eyes.
Cas brushed by the servant, moving into the room and remaining silent at the King’s indication. He moved towards the chair but didn’t sit, preferring to stand as he waited for the man’s attention. “Pleasant. Thank you, Sire.” Cas replied simply before offering out the stack of paperwork in his hand. “The recommendations you requested, Your Majesty.” He offered. “Along with a complete assessment of each soldier’s strengths and weakness, service records and history.” He explained. “You will also find a suggested time to address the men about the… situation.” He added. “Along with a number of soldiers for your own entourage and the list you requested for my own.”
“Castiel...” Dean said gently. “Please sit. You’re making me exhausted, just watching you. I- need to apologise about how I conducted myself last night. It was incredibly wrong to push myself onto you like that. Sometimes... I still think of myself as a Prince, and what I said would have completely different meaning. Please sit and allow us to discuss this as one human to another.” He said softly, hating to see how badly he affected Castiel.
Cas pursed his lips but complied, sinking down into the lush chair but keeping his spine straight. He was exhausted and couldn’t afford to get too comfortable. Still, the King’s words were a bit soothing; was the Omega’s discomfort that obvious. “Of course, Sire.” He nodded obediently.
“I know, nothing I say will excuse my behaviour last night. I should never have given you that ultimatum. It was wrong and abusive of me.” Dean looked to his forgotten breakfast and passed over the last slice of cold toast. “I know it’s cold and forgotten, but you seem to still need it. Have you eaten at all this morning?” He asked softly, hoping to help Castiel relax around him.
“Oh, no thank you, Your Majesty.” Castiel responded. He hadn’t bothered to eat but honestly, with everything that was going on he didn’t think he could stomach it. “Though, I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself. You /are/ an Alpha, Sire, and I an Omega. It is only nature.” He offered though he still didn’t care for it much.
“Castiel I insist. Please relax. Please eat.” Dean said softly. He pushed more papers to the side and rests his hands on the desk. “What I did to you was wrong. So how about I change it slightly, if you’d agree to it, otherwise, we can discuss another option.” Dean said softly. “Does that sound... agreeable to you?” He asked, not wanting to push the Omega.
“I really rather not, Your Grace.” He replied to the offer of food once more, as stubborn as ever. Still, he listened to the man intently, relaxing a bit at the man’s sincerity. “I am always open for discussion, Your Majesty.” Cas reassured with a nod willing to hear him out.
Dean hummed, “instead of jumping straight to marriage, or anything too intimate, how about a very quiet date.” He suggested. “You can choose the time and date. And until we decide whether you want us to be serious or not, you can keep your job as Commander. If you’d be interested.” Dean offered. “Or I can promote you to being a Royal Aide, dedicated to welfare and development of either my own personal guards, or the soldiers in general.” Dean offered, softly.
Cas considered the words for a moment, falling silent as he weighed his options. “Thank you, Sire. You are very generous… However…” He sighed. “I don’t think that I can continue as Knight Commander if this is to be the plan.” He admitted. “I fear, I cannot in good conscious remain Knight Commander if we are going to court; even discretely. Rumors among the palace staff spreads rapidly and the King with an assumed Alpha could be considered scandalous. It is best to inform my men of my status and correct the assumption once and for all; and while I trust some will remain loyal the Kingdom can not rely on a divided force. Yes, it would be best to address my men and step down. Though, I be most grateful to take the role of a Royal Aide.” He agreed, the tension in his shoulders fading slightly.
King Dean hummed and smiled. “You are wise.” He complimented. “I trust you, implicitly. You will make an excellent Royal Aide.” He smiled, he watched Castiel slowly relax, his eyes starting to droop. “Is there anything you would like to ask me, as your King, or as another person. You may ask me anything you wish, multiple anything’s.” Dean smiled, wanting Castiel to relax more.
The Knight Commander seemed to consider his options once more, always reserved. “I suppose I am curious as to why your choosing me, Your Majesty.” He admitted. “There are plenty of Omegas from neighboring kingdoms that would make a strong tie and a good Queen. They are far younger as well.” He pointed out.
“Though many don’t have reservations about it, I do not like to lay with a minor. Plus, I have met and dated each of the of-age Omegas from the nearest Kingdoms and none have what you have. None are strong and diligent like you, none are as brave and wise as you. You are unique, Castiel. If you will allow me the opportunity, I would like to show you how unique you are.” Dean explains softly, keeping his hands where Castiel could see them on top of the desk, but leaning back in his chair. “My father wouldn’t approve of myself dating... someone not of Royal Blood, but I am not my father, and I promised myself a long time ago that I would champion a Kingdom where Omegas get just as many rights as Alphas.” Dean explains, “we are all humans. There is nothing separating us, bar your ability to produce a child. An ability I admire. And as equals, the law should stand up to questioning.
The words were moving, to say the least but were they true? The Omega’s gaze narrowed as he eyed the King, considering him for a moment. Dean didn’t seem to be dishonest by any means and yet the words were still hard to believe. “If I may ask, My Lord…. What made you make such a promise?”
“Before I presented, I saw how my father treated my mother. It was... not something a child should ever see. It was not pretty, or sexy, or consensual.” Dean frowned, and looked down at his hands, before sighing and looking back up at Castiel. “So... I promised myself that if I presented Alpha and when I became King, I would do everything in my power to stop that kind of... unhealthy relationship. Allow Omegas to divorce, allow them to become soldiers or Commanders, if they so wished. And certainly give them the same education as Alphas and Betas. I wish to give them every right that an Alpha or Beta has.” Dean explains. “If you were to become my Queen, or anyone who would be my Queen, I would ask them to draw up the laws, governing the rights to Omegas. With the help of my brother, to aide in the legal jargon and clauses.” He smiled softly, hoping Castiel would see the truth in his eyes.
Castiel had seen the way the King had treated the Queen and he certainly couldn’t fault Dean’s opinion; it was quite noble actually. Perhaps, he had been too quick to judge the man. “Did you know?” He asked simply, glancing away. Dean had pressed him until he was forced to admit his status… surely he had guessed or was it just that obvious that Castiel was hiding something?
“Did I know you were an Omega?” Dean asked softly. “I had my suspicions,” Dean admitted. “It was mostly the shape of your face. You have soft cheekbones and a smaller Adam’s Apple, usually found in Omegas. Plus, you are only just regulation size, I’m not saying all Alphas are well above it, but generally Omegas are shorter.” Dean explained. “Finally, it was the way you flustered, when I tried to joke. Most Alphas would laugh it off, or politely joke back, but you turned bright red.”
Cas cleared his throat awkwardly at that. “Yes well… It isn’t everyday that the King makes such comments.” He defended gently before shrugging. “I suppose if it is that simple to discover me I should be surprised that it hasn’t happened until now.” He sighed. He fell silent once more before turning back toward a more comfortable subject. “Perhaps we should discuss my replacement?” He offered.
“The soldiers you command, won’t have seen anything. They now their heads as you pass. Their jobs are to follow orders. My... goal was to get to understand you. I was observing you.” Dean explained, “your secret is safe until you tell them.” He hummed and grabbed the files Castiel had brought in. “I wish to read through these first, form my own opinions of the men, before we discuss who is the most viable.” Dean explains, “if you have no further questions for me, then go through that door.” He says pointing to a plain side door, the room will be guarded, please don’t leave until I come collect, but in the mean time, you may do whatever you please in the room.” Dean explains. The door he pointed to, lead to his bedroom. He could see that Castiel had barely slept last night, if at all, and knew he was entirely to blame. “Do you have any more questions for me, though first?”
Cas glanced up at the door, lips pursing in a thin line once more before shaking his head. “No, Your Majesty.” He answered before pushing to his feet. He supposed it didn’t matter /where/ he was. He could send one of his servants for his second. There was still a lot of work to be done before he stepped down. No use in wasting precious day light.
Dean looked up at Castiel, as he opened the first report. “And don’t think about working. You worked throughout the night. You need rest from work, or you will make mistakes.” Dean orders.
Cas paused midstep at the order. “So much for ‘doing whatever you please’” He commented before he could stop himself. He tensed the moment the words escaped him, glancing at Dean to gauge his reaction.
“Castiel...” Dean hissed, warningly. “You are neither use nor ornament, if you do not rest. Now go before I have you punished again for insubordination.” Dean ordered.
Castiel shot him a subtle glare before giving a very formal bow. “Of course, Your Majesty. Forgive me.” He replied stiff, tone even as he turned on his heel and shouldered the door open before disappearing.
Dean shook his head and turned back to the reports that Castiel had created. He wasn’t sure if the Commander had worked out which room, he had been sent to, but nonetheless, Castiel would surely work out the significance of why he was sent there.
The door closed behind him leaving the Omega facing the large four poster bed and lavish furniture of the King’s bedchamber. The Alpha’s scent clung to air heavily making the omega flush. It took a moment to gather himself before his annoyance flared once more. Still, he couldn’t disobey a direct order… At least not obviously. He moved towards the large windows, throwing them open to allow him to breath a bit easily before sinking onto the window sill. He waited for one of the servants before ordering them to collect one of his men. He’d simply have them work for him… ‘train’ them on more aspects of the job.
A few hours, and a migraine-inducing amount of reading later, Dean has finally read through all the reports, Castiel had provided for him. He stood and stretched, going to the door Castiel had gone through a few hours before. He knocked on it and opened it a crack. “Commander, are you free?” He asked, not looking into the room.
Castiel glanced up from where he had allowed his head to lean against the frame of the window as he listened to his underling read out his report. His heart skipped a beat as he pushed to his feet quickly, motioning for the man to leave in a hurry before replying. “Of course, Your Grace.” He replied after a few seconds.
Dean opened the door further and stepped into the room. He saw Castiel sat by the open window and stopped in his tracks. “Oh, I never thought. Please forgive me, I never thought just about just how strong my scent would be in here.” Dean said softly. “Come back through into the other room. We have much to discuss.” He says softly.
The Knight Commander didn’t reply as he followed the Monarch, moving back into the office and sinking down into the chair he had taken up before. “What would you like to address first, Sire?” He asked, his exhaustion underlining his voice slightly.
“Why you did not relax when you were alone. You sound exhausted, and it’s become even more evident on your complexion.” Dean explained gently. He moved around the room slowly lighting incense candle, providing a cozy warmth and a heady smell to the room.
“Alone in an Alpha’s bed chambers… Alone with his heavy scent everywhere and none of the herbs I usually use to ignore such things; as you ordered, Sire.” He pointed out simply, too tired to worry about being rude. “With very little time before I must allow another to take over my life’s work.”
“Were you working?” Dean asked softly, his voice barely a calm whisper. If he hadn’t have had a good nights sleep the night before, Dean would be finding it incredibly hard not to fall asleep, with the warmth of the room and the heady smells produced by the incense.
It was obvious that Cas was having his own problems fighting it, eyes growing heavy before snapping open repeatedly. “No, Your Grace.” He replied honestly…. He /hadn’t/ been… He /had/ been listening to someone /else/ work.
Dean hummed, keeping his tone even and deep as he spoke. “If I find out you have been lying to me, or misspeaking the truth to me, Castiel...” Dean trailed off. “But never mind, I trust you. You are to become my Royal Aide. I know you would never give me false or misleading information in such an important role. But let’s discuss your role as a Royal Aide. You will be receiving new work attire, and as you are to stop taking your hormone blockers I am curious to see whether you choose the Alpha or Omega attire. Once in the new role, you shall either address me as King Dean, or Sire. The choice is yours, but as you speak about me to someone else, I shall always be your Majesty.” Dean rambled, hoping that his voice would send Castiel to sleep. “Once a week, I will be holding a meal with all my Aides, at this you may choose to come as my Aide or as my partner.” He added on.
“You’ll punish me for insubordination… Yeah… I know.” Cas mumbled, too tired to realize he wasn’t filtering his words properly. Still, Cas listened closely to the words, doing his best to ignore the small slight about withholding information. “Of course, Sire.” He acknowledged with a hidden yawn. “New work attire… Alpha or Omega, of my choosing…. Address King Dean or Sire… Anyone else ‘His Majesty’… Once a week… meal with Aides… Choose either Aide or partner.” He nodded the words slurred as he tried to stay focused.
Dean held back a chuckle, finding Castiel cute as he babbled back to him. “Unfortunately there are also rules of how to dress and address me when we’re together. When we’re on a date, you must wear Omega, formal attire.” Dean continued with his deep, quiet voice. “When we’re in private you may wear any clothes you see fit. Whilst on a date you may call me Dean, or a term of endearment if you wish you. Whilst in private, you may call me Dean or a term of endearment again. Unless we are speaking about work, then you will call me King Dean or Sire. If we are in public but not on a date, again I am King Dean or Sire.” Dean explained, watching Castiel. He smirked and dropped his voice even quieter. “I love you.” He added, wondering how much Castiel was taking on board.
Cas gave a grunt in response but gave a small nod, leaning on his elbow, resting his cheek in his hand. “Rules about dress…. Date, omega formal…” He began each pause between the words growing longer and longer. “Private, see fit… Dean…” He grumbled out, the word leaving his lips for the first time, gravely and low. “Work… Sire… Love you.” He acknowledged, the words barely distinguishable as chin rested on his chest and a soft snore escaped him.
Dean finally gave a low chuckle as he gently wrapped the cloak around Castiel, and laid his own cloak on top of him. “You really should have slept, Castiel, then you wouldn’t have gotten so exhausted. All I’ve been trying to do is help you.” He spoke quietly as he picked the Omega up and carried him out of the room, into the cooler corridor, he carried him down the halls and into the solider’s quarters, searching for Castiel’s room.
“You should have learned not to mess with me by now, gorgeous! Then you wouldn’t have lost all your-“ Gabriel called over his shoulder as he rushed down the hall, a wad of someone else’s clothes in his arms; a large Alpha barely covered by a sheet wrapped around his lower half rushing after him. The short Omega was so preoccupied by his prank that he almost ran into the King, pulling up just short in his haste, and taking in the sight of the Knight Commander cradled in his arm.
“Gabriel! You little-“ The Alpha growled before Gabriel managed to turn and toss his clothes in his face, blinding him long enough for the small Omega to duck into a nearby room. “This way, Your Majesty.” He urged motioning for the Monarch to follow.
Dean nodded and followed the Omega, into the small room. He eyes kept on Castiel to ensure he didn’t wake up. “Gabriel is it? Will you do your King a favour and tell me where the Knight Commander’s private quarters are?” Dean asked, looking down upon the small Omega, who barely came up to his chest.
Gabriel shut the door behind them quickly, peering through the key hole to ensure the Alpha that had chased him continued on, chuckling to himself. It wasnt until Dean spoke that Gabriel's attention shifted, eyeing both him and Cas. "Honestly I rather do Cassie, here the solid and avoid you going anywhere near his rooms." The Omega replied, no hint of the usual groveling respect that commoners showed the King. "He told me all about you, ya know. Really screwed the pooch on that one, didnt ya Deano." Gabriel commented moving forward to obviously check that his friend was alright.
“Frankly, I don’t care about want you would rather do.” Dean stated. “What I do care about is how a common Omega managed to get into the private area, reserved for soldiers. You aren’t you, clearly. And even if you had managed to slip past all other officials, you contract is terminated immediately. So, take me to the Knight Commander’s room, or I will ensure you live to regret it.” Dean stated, keeping the sleeping Omega in his arms.
Gabriel's brow arched at that though he didnt seem angry or annoyed. "What, like throwing me in prison? From what Cassie told me you've already threatened that once. Besides I dont have a contract to terminate. I'm an Omega the only thing I'm allowed to do in this boring place is laundry and cooking. I'll pass thanks." He pointed out before giving a scoff. "Typical Alpha," He grumbled under his breath as he moved to poke his head out the door and glanced down the hall to make sure no one would see them. "Always throwing weight around... making threats." He huffed to himself before pushing open the door. "Well, come on then." He instructed the King. "I may not be afraid of you but if Cas finds out I did help I'll never hear the end of it."
“First you did break the law. You /should/ be in jail. And it’s not like I don’t have much weight to throw around. I am King. And you have no idea what we’re discussed or planning on doing today, Omega, so if I were you I would keep your trap shut on issues you don’t fully understand.” Dean stated. He walked past Gabriel and through the door, without looking at him.
Gabriel followed after without a moment's hesitation. "First off, I have a name and it's not Omega!" He snapped. "Secondly I havent broken any law that you can prove besides not groveling at you! I live here with Cas." He countered as they entered the small office before hurrying over to produce a key and unlocking the Knight Commander's quarters. The man in question, shifted as Gabriel's voice rose, curling into Dean a bit more allowing a small grumble to escape him.
“If you live with Castiel then there is proof you know his secret. You even admitted to talking about the consequences, /Omega/.” Dean said calmly. He looked down at Castiel in his arms As he moved and raised and eyebrow at the Omega. “I don’t he’s liking your tone of voice.” He stated simply.
Gabriel considered that a moment as pushed open the door, Castiel's heavy scent engulfing them as they entered. "You got me there Deano." He shrugged. "But how do you know Cassie just doesnt like /your/ tone?" He argued childishly moving to pull back the covers on the bed. "Let's just make one thing clear... King or not... you hurt my brother and I'll make you wish you were dead." He warned giving a feral warning growl which was a bit strange coming from such a small omega.
“I know it’s you, Omega, but you were talking when he flinched, you are the one arguing, whilst I am remaining calm, and he flinched towards me and away from you, not the other way around.” Dean explained calmly and softly. He laid the Commander down in his bed, both his and Castiel’s cloaks wrapped around him. “You can tell him whatever you wish, but I will have the guards sign that they didn’t see or hear me be malicious to either of you. The guards under his control.” Dean smiled.
Gabriel’s glare darkened. “I didn’t plan on claiming otherwise but I wasn’t talking about today.” Gabriel pointed out. “Sounds like you have a guilty conscious there Dean-o. Maybe you should get it in check.” The small man growled before kicking off his boots and making a show of him crawling into bed with the Omega. It was obvious he was trying to piss Dean off. A ‘Haha I can be in his bed but you can’t’ grin plastered on his face as he wrapped his arms around the larger Omega.
“I don’t have a guilty conscious, I just don’t trust you.” Dean stated softly. He left the room without another word and headed back to his office. To continue on with his workload.
“The feeling is mutual Asshole!” Gabriel called after him in a harsh whisper before getting a bit more comfortable in case the Alpha decided to come back. He really didn’t see why Cas was taken with the guy though it was obvious every time he spoke of him.
The next day, after not a lot of sleep, Dean sent a letter out to Castiel, asking for him to meet with him at the soonest available opportunity. He continued to work in his office, with a considerable less about of paperwork to get through than the day before. His mind kept reliving the past conversation with Gabriel, surely that hate and disrespect didn’t come from one night’s conversation with Castiel. Was it because he was an Alpha and Gabriel was an Omega, would that hate lessen, if he understood what legislation and laws he is wanting to put in place? Or was it another reason why Gabriel hated Dean.
Castiel slept late into the night, only waking when Gabriel brought in the usual over sized breakfast that Cas only picked at while the smaller Omega devoured the rest. A realization of what had transpired had the Knight Commander flushing with embarrassment, but he didn’t mention it to his brother or anyone else for that matter and as for Gabriel… He didn’t speak a word about the King, too curious to see how it would all pan out. So, Cas ate, washed and changed, still not donning the armor of the Knight Commander which would probably make the men worry but he supposed it was for the best. By the time the letter reached him, the Knight Commander was almost through his rounds. He dismissed his men and made a B line for the King’s office; this time, the Man in Waiting didn’t hesitate to push open the doors and announce his arrival.
“You wished to see me Sire?” Cas asked as he moved around the other man and into the room.
Dean nodded and looked up from the paperwork he was reading. “I thought we could find off that discussion we didn’t have yesterday.” He suggested, offering Castiel the seat he occupied yesterday. “I do hope your brother didn’t make up too many wildly incorrect stories about what happened whilst you slept.” Dean said softly as he dismissed the guard.
Castiel moved to the chair before pausing at the words, brows furrowing. “My brother?” He mumbled before realization his him and he tensed. “Gabriel…” He sighed. “I hadn’t realized the two of you met. However he acted… Whatever he said Sire… I assure you I will have a discussion with him. There is no need for any further worry. I will handle his punishment myself, I give you my word.” He rushed obviously worried that whatever the King planned was very severe and far too harsh.
“Oh no no. I believe that stopping him from annoying the other Alphas should do right.” Dean explained. “But I do have a question about him, if you’ll indulge me?” He asked, “his general... annoyance at me surely doesn’t just stem from your discussion the previous night, so I was curious as to why he acts like that.”
Cas seemed to relax a bit at that, though his brows furrowed as he considered the question. “I couldn’t say, Sire… Gabriel has always been a bit… brash towards Alphas… Unless he was sleeping with them.” He shrugged. “But he’s never been as hostile as if your words imply. Perhaps he is simply being over protective. He /has/ played the role as my Omega for quite some time now.” He shrugged, obviously at a loss for any real answer.
Dean nodded, believing Castiel. “That’s fine. I understand.” He said softly. “I hope you did sleep well last night though, you did seem very... almost delirious before you fell asleep. Can you remember any of it?” He asked.
Castiel’s flush deepened In his embarrassment. “Some.” He acknowledged. “I apologize immensely for bring so improper, Your Majesty.” He rushed. “I can not believe I feel asleep in the middle of our discussion. It will not happen again I assure you.”
“Oh do not worry, Castiel, I have been tempted to do it before now, myself.” Dean smiled. “Do you remember what we were discussing, or will I need to go over it with you? I just do not wish to have your... knowledge lacking in any areas.” Dean explained softly. His hands resting on the table, where Castiel could see them as he leaned back in his chair.
"Yes of course, Sire." He nodded as he considered it a moment. "We were discussing proper attire and terms used during events and in private when becoming your Royal Aide." He offered simply.
Dean nodded and smiled. “You were so delirious I wondered if you had remembered.” Dean tapped his finger on his desk before laying out the files on the potential new Commanders. “Which ones would you say are the best for the role? I know I have ones that I would say are the best, but I wish for your opinions first.” Dean explained.
Cas gave another nod before stepping forward to glance down at the papers. “I would say that there are really only three that stand out more than the others. “Raphael is a strong soldier, he does very well when it comes to fortification and defensive tactics though his offensive strategies are above average, they still need improvements. I have been tutoring him for some time now and there are some improvements though he has a difficult time making sacrifices for tactical advantage. Then there is Azra’il whose battle tactics are a bit… aggressive but effective. The men respect him and he is loyal. He prefers to fight among his men rather than oversee them. It is not a traditional leadership but it strengths the bond between them and causes him to become more reserved when there is a potential of losing men. His tactics are sound and he is a hard worker. Finally, Zerachiel, my second in command he knows the men and the city backwards and forwards. In a simulated environment his tactics are flawless, he’s quick to come to decisions and is ruthless when solving a problem. It is possible he could make a fine Knight Commander he is young though and has never seen a real battle. I am unsure the seasoned soldiers would follow someone such as that… Not until they see how he faces bloodshed.” Cas explained. “That being said, any man on this list would make a fine replacement, Sire.”
“I was leaning to Zerachiel, but as you said, he’s never seen bloodshed. But I do like Azra’s leading style. It could improve the moral of the men, through the difficult adjustment period.” Dean added. “Though, as you know them to best, I will follow your better judgement between Zerachiel and Azra.”
“If I may, Sire…” Cas offered. “I would suggest promoting them both. Azra’il taking the title of Knight Commander whith Zerachiel as his advisor and second. Zerachiel may not be fond of the idea of remaining second but he would be satisfied with the notion that he still has power over the pieces on the board and can prove to be a heavy counterweight to Azra’il eagerness.” He explained. “It also allows Azra’il to free more time for training with the troops while Zerachiel focuses on the more scholarly aspects of the position; and gives Zerachiel a more aggressive counterpart to push him to earn the respect of his soldiers.” Cas explained.
Dean nodded and smiled. “I’ll have my brother draw up the contract for both men. I knew you would be wise enough to become my Aide. And the Aide you are replacing will be honoured to have such a wise man take up his mantle.” Dean smiled. “I will also have my brother draft up a contract for yourself first, to read and change as you see hit. I don’t believe there’s ever been an Omega Aide before, so some of it may be... uncomfortable or inapplicable to you.” Dean explained.
“I have been viewed as an Alpha for a long time, Sire; there is not much in the way of an Alpha’s role that is ‘uncomfortable’ to me any longer.” He replied before hesitating. “Though… I would like to address my men as soon as possible. Since I am no longer allowed the herbs I’ve been using to suppress my nature I fear that if we wait much longer there could be a few… unsavory issues. I know you are busy, Your Grace, but perhaps you could spare a bit of time this evening?”
“Of course I can.” Dean nodded. “Come by here when you are ready and I shall be waiting to go down with you. I know you feel like you don’t need a chaperone, but I know how Alphas will feel if they find out an Omega has been lying to them. That an Omega was in charge. The situation may become hostile... so I’ll use my presence to keep them from doing anything reckless.” Dean explained.
Cas pursed his lips obviously still not liking the idea, though for a different reason than before. It was his duty to protect the King and now he was the reason the man would be put in a potentially unfavorable situation. He supposed he would just have to station more guards in the King’s entourage. “Of course, Your Majesty.” He acknowledged with a small bow. “Do I have your permission to discuss the promotion with the two men in question? With the confusion that will no doubt be imminent I feel it may be necessary to warn them both of their new responsibilities. I, of course, will not provide any unnecessary information until after the address.” He offered, meaning there was no need for them to know of his status before the others, just that he was stepping down.
“Of course you may, Castiel. At your addressing this evening, would you like to explain your replacements then or at a later date?” Dean asked, wanting to know the Omega’s thought process of the situations. It may make some angrier, but it’s also better to do it all in one go that twice.” Dean suggested.
“I would agree, Sire. Announcing the promotions would be wise.” He acknowledged. “At the very least it would give the two the authority needed to minimize the chaos.” He offered.
“Yes.” Dean agreed. “That settles it.” He puts the documents neatly away in a cabinet and turns back to Castiel, “is there anything else you would like to ask me? Maybe not as a friend, maybe not as your King, but as an acquaintance. Anything at all?” Dean asked
Castiel hesitated, obviously having something on his mind but not quite knowing how the King would respond. "Yes, Si-" He began before realizing he was using the man's title and stopping himself. "Dean." He corrected averting his gaze and flushing slightly. "A favor... About Gabriel... Please dont hold his behavior against him. It is my fault really for protecting him so thoroughly. He is a good man... who has been through a lot. I'm afraid he simply doesnt know better. I assure that I will ensure this is rectified before my transition to Royal Aide... I would like him to remain by my side if you would allow... As an aid of sorts."
“Castiel, He... threatened me. As the person I am, I didn’t take it seriously, but to him it was serious. I cannot trust him, with... the way he speaks, and behaves. He stole another Alpha’s clothes.” Dean explained. “I-” he shook his head as he thought. “He can still live with you, but he cannot know about the work you are doing. I am sorry, Castiel, but I have to think about the sensitive data you will be handling, I just can’t trust him with it.” He explained softly
Cas straightened looking shocked. "He threatened you?" He growled for once looking the part of an Alpha only briefly before he managed to reign himself in. Gabriel was lucky be was still alive after such treason. "O-of course, Sire. A wise decision in light of your interactions. Perhaps a simple role as a palace servant would be more appropriate? Maybe in the kitchens where he cant cause much trouble. He is quite a skilled Baker. As for the clothes... well there are a few Alphas in the barracks that are in a bit of a prank war with my brother... I assure you it's nothing to worry about. But if you would prefer I can put an end to it."
“That is a wise choice, Castiel. But no, if the pranking is consensual, then I see no reason to halt it.” Dean explained. “Plus if we put him to work in the kitchens, he may slow down on the pranking.” Dean hummed, and tapped his desk, in thought. “May I ask you a question?”
Cas blinked in surprise that the man would even bother with the request. "Of course, your majesty." He shrugged.
“I keep calling you, Castiel, but is there a name you prefer, I noticed your brother called you Cassie a lot. But then he was calling me Deano.” Dean asked. Trying not to let his annoyance creep into his voice. “Is there a name you prefer to be called?” Dean asked softly.
That was an… unusual question. No one had ever really bothered to ask him that question before. “No, Sire.” He admitted honestly. “You may call me whatever you wish. Though… I would prefer it isn’t ‘Cassie’.” He added, nose wrinkling in disgust.
Dean chuckles. “How about I call you Cas?” He asks. “I’ve always had an aversion to long names, unless it’s my brother Sammy.” He smiles. “Just one last question and then you can ask me anything you’d like. Have you given our arrangement for a date any more consideration?”
“That is acceptable, Your Majesty.” Cas offered with a small bow. With the second question however he seemed to pause in consideration. “I have… thought about it… However, to be honest I have been quite busy with the change of command. After the address this evening, however, I suppose I will have plenty of free time.” He offered.
“I understand, Cas. Tonight think about it and get some rest. I’ve asked for the rest of the week off so I won’t get any more paperwork, so until Sunday, I will be teaching you the role of the Royal Aide of the Cavalry, if that is suitable for you.” Dean explained. “And then on Sunday, I shall teach you... the rules of... eloquence, for the meal that evening where I shall introduce you as our newest Aide and the old one will officially step down.” Dean explained. “Is that suitable for you?”
“That is most gracious of you, Sire.” Cas acknowledged. “That is more than adequate time for the transition. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning of my duties. I hope to be as much of service as I have in the past.” He nodded before hesitating. “As well as spending more time with His Majesty.” He added, flushing slightly but managing to keep his expression even.
Dean raised an eyebrow at the Omega, but didn’t press. “Would you like to ask me anything else?” He asked. “About my policies I’m wishing to implement, or about my personal life. Anything at all.” He offered. “And remember not every Aide or Commander will get the opportunity to ask me anything so openly.”
“No, Sire; though I do appreciate the opportunity.” He acknowledged. “I’m sure there will be plenty of time to learn everything I’d need in the coming weeks.” He offered. “I fear that if we are to prepare for the address in time that I must being going shortly however.”
“Of course,” Dean nodded. “And if you wish to speak to another Omega about anything... Royal, then Sammy’s wife, Meg, is happy to discuss and help you.” He offered. “I know sometimes it’s just easier for an Omega to speak with another Omega.”
That had Cas hesitating once more. “Of course, Sire. Thank you.” He acknowledged with a bow. “If you’ll excuse me there is much to be done.” He mumbled before turning to go.
Dean nodded and watched the Omega go before preparing some material to help Cas transition into his new role. He thought about how much more calmer Cas was when around him today compared to yesterday. He tried to work out what he had done differently, but apart from being calmer and less forthright, he wasn’t sure.
Cas spent the rest of the day in meetings and managing paperwork to prepare for the transition; sending messengers out with orders and information about the address later in the evening. Everything seemed to be going well enough aside from the meeting with the two that were to be his successors. Naturally, they were upset with the news that Castiel would be stepping down from Command and had many questions but the Omega had some how managed to avoid answering them, ensuring them they would have their answers during the address. Soon enough, Cas stood in front of the King’s Office, dressed in his regal armor for the last time, helmet tucked under his arm as he waited for the Alpha.
