My Doubt– Suspicious Housekeeper
It’s been awhile since I last posted as I was away for a month long holiday – a much needed vacation after a year of working tirelessly. Glad Kdramas are here to keep me sane and I was expecting that while I’m on break from work, I would have a break from watching Kdrama as well as I will be busy going about the cities we have visited but I was wrong. Watching Kdramas on your vacation is the best ever. I have finished 3 I think if I remember it correctly…I got lost in counting as there are lots of activities I have done and lost track, but now that I am back to my normal life and to the daily grind then most probably I will have time to watch, remember what I watched and post my 2 cents. I will write about the above mentioned drama as it stuck in my brain right now – this means I loved watching it.
Suspicious Housekeeper is one of those drama that I saw while browsing and did not catch my attention either by their poster or plot or characters. So this drama is not new, it aired late 2013 and I remember I had someone in this site mentioned that it was indeed a great watch – so I have placed it in my list, and just believed a KDrama fan’s recommendation. It is a remake of a Japanese drama and honestly did not watch the original version so I cannot say anything about it. But what I can actually share with you all is, it is indeed great. Not your typical/usual kdrama where you know what’s going to happen already (maybe because it’s not original kdrama?).
This is about a family with four children, Han Gyeol, Doo Gyeol, Se Gyeol, and Hye Gyeol (the youngest, cutest and the best of them all). It begins with the funeral of the mom who committed suicide because she discovered her husband’s affair. Their father is a bit of a fool in the beginning as he seems like he does not care about the family at all and just loves his mistress so much. Since this is the case the only way for the kids to survive and to be taken care of is to hire a housekeeper – enter our great main lead, her name is Nanny McPhee…just kidding her name is Park Bok Nyeo who showed up at the family’s home exactly 49 days after the death of their mom, well a bit creepy eh! Now Bok Nyeo has a very interesting personality (or if she has at all) she’s good at everything, she’s smart, she can do anything that they ask of her, she acts like a robot (thought she was a real robot in the beginning) and as per the agency who sends her to the family, she will do anything and everything even if the task is to kill. Oh and by the way – she cannot smile at all.
There is of course a reason why Bok Nyeo acts like that – she was traumatized due to a stalker that pushed her to go out of the country just to avoid this guy and who eventually killed her family. We got a really psycho stalker here.
Not much of a romantic feel to this but it’s the family ties/relationship that really made this a great watch, what I like most in this drama is that each characters are really smart – misunderstandings have a very limited supply, they actually use their common sense and have good judgement and does not rely on what they see, – for once…! Another good thing about this is they have shown how each members of the family matured over time. Just a thought though – I was wishing that Bok Nyeo actually has supernatural powers-non human type, not sure why but yeah that’s just me.
Ok then I loved this drama and I do hope you give this a go if you haven’t as it has a fresh new take on the usual kdramas we have been used to…xoxo
p.s. The little girl Hye Gyeol – deserves an award, she’s seriously amazing….and the first love of Han Gyeol - Choi Soo-hyuk (Seo Kang-joon) is seriously cute – eye candy!!!!
