Cagney Carnation - General Headcanons
Note: I was originally planning to write something for either the Automaton or King Dice, but after seeing these two gorgeous art pieces of Cagney, I got hit with an intense urge to write for him. So, here’s some headcanons!

Warnings: Delusional mindsets, emotional abuse, implied kidnapping, manipulation, mentions of murder, mentions of violence, threats.
♤ Out of all the outcasts on Inkwell, Cagney is perhaps the only one whose status as such is something he actually wants. He’s never been fond of other people and prefers his solitude over everything else, so it’s no surprise that the infamous “monster flower” of Isle One isn’t too keen about interacting with others. The only real time he comes into contact with someone else is if they accidentally stumble into his garden, a mistake which Cagney is always sure to rectify by scaring them off with threats of violence. Because of this hostility, very few people dare to go near him or his home, and that’s exactly how he wants it to be. Cagney has convinced himself that he doesn’t need or want anyone else in his life, and he’s ready to chase away anyone who challenges this delusion.
♡ That is precisely why he’s so hostile towards his darling in the beginning. He’s not friendly to begin with, but his distaste for others, especially humans, really shines when interacting with them. He becomes far more aggressive than he normally is when in their presence, and he’s not shy about tossing threatening words their way. He’s even taken to grabbing them with his vines a few times, an act which serves as a halfhearted warning for them to stay away. But no matter what he does, his darling persists. Their fascination with him seems endless, and they’re quite open about their intention to befriend him, no matter how much he mocks them for having such a desire.
♧ Regardless, they’re the one who eventually wins their battle of persistence. Seeing no point in continuing to chase them away, Cagney relents and decides to give them a chance. He’s not happy about this decision, but believes it to be better than wasting his energy on constantly trying to make them leave. Besides, they’re amusing enough; he figures that he might as well get some entertainment from watching them struggle to win him over. A part of him though, however small it may be, is surprised that they managed to see past his bluff and recognise just how lonely he is, even when he himself has been unable to do so.
◇ Their “friendship”, if it could even be called that at that stage, is just as awkward as one would expect. With him making no efforts to contribute to their conversations, his darling is left to do most of the talking, which often leads to them just sitting together in silence. It’s during these moments that he takes the opportunity to observe them, trying to decipher what exactly it is they want from him besides companionship, and he finds that he actually quite enjoys just watching them. There’s something about them that, were he not so desperately in denial, he would describe as “cute”. Their kindness towards him, their interest in him and his home, their determination - yes, there truly was no other word he could think of to accurately sum them up; they’re just cute.
♤ As he becomes more comfortable around them, Cagney starts to make changes in his behaviour. The insults and catty comments he once made towards them become a thing of the past, and he actually starts initiating conversations with them. He begins listening keenly to everything they say, no matter how mundane the subject matter, and his eyes never stray from them while he does so. This ever-growing fondness for them is something he denies for a long time, until he realises just how much he’s come to crave their presence. Whenever the two part ways, he can’t help but want to indulge his more selfish side and force them to continue their stay, regardless of their feelings on the matter. It’s this greed, along with the strong feelings of jealousy that consume him whenever they mention spending time with others, that eventually lead to him realising his feelings for them.
♡ A friendship with them was already something he had a hard time getting used to, but a relationship? The concept is utterly alien to him. It takes Cagney a while to adjust to having a romantic partner, but he does put in a genuine effort to make their relationship work, regardless of how rocky the start was. Meeting his darling is without a doubt the best thing that’s ever happened to him, and he’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to keep them by his side, though it takes him a long time to come to terms him with just how deep his obsession runs.
♧ Because of how few positive influences he’s had in his life, Cagney often takes to expressing his emotions, both positive and negative, in unhealthy ways, and this is especially apparent in his relationship. His need for his darling’s affection takes the form of him hoarding all of their attention, while his hatred for their loved ones often manifests into death threats and acts of violence. Rarely does he actually take someone’s life, as most are wise enough to stay away from them, but he has no qualms about doing so if he deems it necessary. His darling is, unsurprisingly, kept in the dark about his more vicious actions towards those close to them, instead making them believe that they’ve simply distanced themselves because they disapprove of their relationship.
◇ Despite what his hostility towards everyone else may suggest, Cagney is actually capable of being kind and loving, which are two traits he only ever shows to his darling. It’s not a stretch to say that he adores them with every fibre of his being, and he makes sure they’re aware of this; he wants them to feel nothing but safe and happy when they’re with him, and he’s willing to go to great lengths to achieve this. However, that’s not to say that he’ll always be pleasant towards them.
♤ While he does possess a good amount of patience when it comes to them, Cagney is prone to reverting back to his old self if he feels he’s starting to lose them. If, for example, they’ve begun having doubts about their relationship, he’ll be sure to take care of whatever it is that’s been causing them to feel that way. Have they been feeling neglected recently? He’ll increase his displays of affection tenfold, almost to the point of being suffocating. Do they think the two of them aren’t being open enough with each other? A bit more difficult for him, but he’s willing to listen and tell them whatever they want to hear so as to make them feel better. Has someone been trying to convince them of his wrongdoings? That poor fool will be pushing daisies soon enough; Cagney will make sure of it.
♡ However, if his more tame methods of keeping them around are unsuccessful, he has no trouble using force. He doesn’t find much enjoyment in it, as he does value his darling’s happiness, but he’s not the type to put theirs above his own. If they tell him they want to end their relationship, or confront him about his manipulation or how he’s been harming those close to them, he will try to brush them off at first; he dismisses their words as them “not knowing what they’re talking about”, and insists that they forget about it. He’s doing his best to hold himself back in that moment, and it’s only when they turn to leave that he finally snaps.
♧ He seizes their limbs with his vines, as well as covers their mouth to prevent them from screaming, and pulls them back towards him. He cares about them, he truly does, but he’s done being nothing but nice to them; they’ve made a grave mistake, and they need to learn their place. He assures them, with his signature too-wide, toothy, malicious grin, that they won’t be going anywhere. After all, they deliberately ignored all of his threats and the constant warnings from others to stay away, so it’s only right that they take responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
Susu - I legit forgot who you were for some quick second until seeing the anon list, then remembered "HOOMAN!" and I was just looking at Romantic F/O's, we share some BNHA F/Os (and some you are debating) Dabi, Shigaraki (I finally got him out of debate), Toga, and Hawks. Just cuddle the Villains and a singular hero. I am on a ramble of weirdness. Idky but I'd just mess with Hawks wings bc they seem so fluffy!! And Toga's hair seems so just able to styled!! *Sobs in gaying*

Susu - Okay, that is an interesting game! I do like games that just jump 1 to 100! And Yeah, Susu is a very nice name, I found it around online whenever creating my online name. It basically means quiet, or slight noise, and it comes from China origin. Besides that, since I can ramble as well, I'll go and play some of Moko's Advice, since it does seem interesting to me!
I love games that do that as well! I don't have the attention span needed to play slow rising games! Also that's interesting, I wouldn't have guessed that! What a pretty name :)

Moko is the only playable character in a game called "Moko's Advice"! In the game, Moko has a little hut that has "Moko's Advice" painted/drawn on it where he gives out advice. It looks like this
People/shadow things come to his hut and ask questions, Moko can only answer yes or no to the questions, and when the people leave, they drop a coin in his little bag

Honestly, I’m looking forward for writing everyone but Wocky lol; I wanna spread my wings a bit here and flesh out some characters while exercising my writing abilities and I know all my stuff about Wocky (which I will force you all to learn against your will lol)
