Robot Dreams - Roller skate sequence animation

I love that canonnically Dog is good at nothing... except for roller-skating.

So I was in charge of Layout, Rough, Tie-down and sometimes Clean-up for a good part of the September sequence. The ones in b&w are clean-ups. The ones in color I only animated and someone else cleaned, I just didn't keep my version of those for some reason. I drew so many tiny wheels guys TvT So many...

I also worked on the reprise, right at the end, having to reinterpret the same dance moves without the skates.

The director Pablo Berger made a trip to film a couple of Roller Skate dancers, and that's what I had as reference for the whole dance sequence. I believe they're both in the credits!

Robot Dreams test animation

Told you guys I'd post some animations! I have a bunch more where that came from too.

This one is not an actual shot from the film. As one of the first animators hired, I helped develop the style of the film. This is one of the very first animations I did at the studio, to start getting a feel of the characters. We were trying out ways for Robot to move, to walk, ranging from so bouncy it was goofy, to too heavy and kinda intimidating. Eventually we arrived at something that would make him feel strong but graceful, and most of all friendly and full of joy.

Robot is definitely my favorite character from the film <3

"You want your reward, you're gonna have to catch it first."

Serin snapped her head back and her bow followed, aiming up.

Way up.

She could not believe her eyes. Or her ears. The dragon was suspended many yards up, grabbing on with all four feet to a great oak which already creaked ominously under its weight. And she couldn't quite see in the backlight, but... was it smiling?

"Hey!" she yelled, not really knowing what for. And then she didn't have anything better to say after that.

"Listen, I'm sorry about that tree."

Serin blinked. "What?"

"The tree, back there." The dragon nodded back the way they came, then did a pretty good impression of a laugh. "I really thought you'd stop."

Against all of her instincts, she had at some point lowered her bow. Her mind was too busy reeling to care. The dragon had fashioned itself a pretty convincing human voice. A kind of handsome voice, actually. She hated it.

But she lacked the time, or the patience, to boggle. Powering past the shock, she lifted her bow again and pulled the string taut, getting right back down to business.

"Okay, wait," the dragon said, sounding a little less merry.

Shoot it! Now!

Guess who's back, back again! Posting fanart of... Spidermen?

I haven't posted in forever, damn. I've technically been drawing LOTS, since I'm working on a movie, just nothing I could actually publish.

Anyway I saw Spiderman No Way Home and when Tobey showed up I... ohhh... I just... TwT Guys, he's 40 and still baby. Everybody yelling and clapping. I didn't like the Amazing movies but I'm totally sold on Andrew. They did him dirty.

One of the best, if not the best, movie theater experiences of my life.

So do they look like them?
